I know that to merge different sections they have to be on the same layer / sublayer then you should cut them so they merge or rather it's not closed. That is exactly what I did and the little gap you see in the image, I can't get those two to merge together as one seamless object ?

I can't tell illustrator to select same color, the way it does with fills and strokes? I want to change the color and I have to click on every single point again? Ridiculous.

Whenever I work with layers to try and achieve an effect I want, I have 2 or more layers. Then when I try to merge them to get the desired effect, "nothing happens!".
The other layers in the layers menu disappear and my picture remains unaltered, it's like whenever I draw in GIMP, all that editing is seen on my image, but when I try to merge my layers to get say, a glow effect, nothing happens to my image. It's like I didn't do anything. So frustrating!
Basically, what I do is this:
1. I create a new image.
2. I beginning stages of my image on whatever I want to do.
3. I create a new layer (or more than one, doesn't matter) to tinker around to try and achieve a certain effect (doesn't matter what effect I'm trying to achieve, always has the same results).
4. Then when I'm done tinkering around, I go to "Image--Merge Visible Layers"
5. Nothing happens. The multiple layers I had in the layers box vanish, but the effect I was trying to achieve is not merged with my image!
Layers are useless to me because I can't use them, yet I need them to achieve the things I need to have in my art. I am not looking for how to merge two images together in one, I want LAYERS not images.
Merge to Panorama no longer works in CS4.
I have reinstalled CS4 to no avail and am using the latest LR 3.6. OS is Win 7.
All works up until I get to the Merge window in CS4 where I can select any options and then select the "OK" button and nothing happens.
I have a map. I would like to remove small islands without having to rub them all out manually (its a very big map).
I'm not too bothered about the criteria for selecting small islands - I would just like to specify an approximate threshold diameter or something.
The sea is one uniform color. And this color doesn't appear on land. Sort of like a noise removal filter, but I don't want the coastline of surviving islands to be smudged. I.e. islands that are not removed must not be touched and the removed islands must be removed completely.
I have tried selecting all the sea and then growing the selection to swamp small islands and then shrinking the selection again but this didn't work very well.
See attachment to clarify. I have colored islands that I would like to get rid of in red (very roughly). This is part of the full image. The actual image has just water round the boundary (no land touches the image edges) (Also there are some islands within lochs - ideally these would be selected also, but the majority are within the sea,)
I am trying to create islands of surface by multiple enclosed polylines as boundaries.
Each enclosed polyline has several 3d lines as drawing objects.
After creating the surface from the 3d lines I use "Select similar" to select all boundaries(enclose polylines) and add them as boundaries using the "Show" option.
However, it is not working and I do not see the islands of a surface.

I have two polygons in my sample-sdf, one having an island. I start the command _MAPFEATUREMERGE to join two polygons. Having done that the island is lost. I can't believe that this (losing the islands) is "as designed".

There's a layer in the drawing we received from the surveyor that doesn't match the client's standards. When I try to merge it with another layer or delete the layer, the command stops as soon as I pick a line on the layer. There are no objects visible on the layer so it may part of a style. I don't think it's part of a block as the surveyor used the client's blocks.

The reference points are not displayed on a current line (or any other figure) when I want to join another figure with it, what I mean is that the little green x or square figures won´t appear when I want to join two objects at a point. I need the anchor points to snap to whatever I have my gridlines and subdivisions set to in preferences along with guides I place. When I make the initial anchor points, they snap, but moving them after that, they don't snap. I see the new snap vector to pixel grid, but for the majority of my projects, that will not be used.
I have snap check marked and snap to all selected. Never had this problem before CS6.
I am unable to delete points from my survey database. What could be preventing me from performing this task?

Points, edges, etc. are available but not faces. also, when I change to textured view mode, no textures appear, it always shows as shaded mode. finally, xsi always opens with the layout messed up and on robot mode.
I 'm running it on administrator mode on windows 7 x64 also I tried disabling windows desktop styles etc.

I want to know why I can't change coordinate of points while importing points from Points menu?
I created new file, assigned any coordinate system to the model. Opened Import points windows there, created new file format which there I assigned Coordinate zone transform to the coordinate system of the text file and imported my text file. But the coordinates of points didn't changed or transformed. When I do it by Survey in Toolspace its works good. I want to know whether I did any wrong or it is problem of software.
I use AutoCADCivil 2013 64 bit in Windows 7 64 bit!

Why cant I save a cdr job with all the merge fields setup so that next time I open the file I can go straight to 'merge to new document'.
So Ive set up a 10 to view raffle tickets job. Inserted 20 numerical merge fields, positioned, resized, applied font size color alignment etc etc etc.. Takes ages..... So then merge to a new document, works nice and I can save it fine.
There are a hundred reasons why i may have to close the 'master' merge file before the job has been successfully printed. It may be a repeat print job.
Any which way I really dont get why the live merge data fields are lost on closing the file.
Whenever I try to trim or merge a gradient it only divides it, but when it's solid it works. Why? I'm trying to trim/merge some artwork with a lot of gradients and it's making it impossible. Any way to do this with gradients. Here is an image of what I'm talking about showing it working with solids, but not gradients.

I have to use the same spec box on all my documents to relay info to my printer which is in it's own Illustrator doc. BUT when I copy it and paste it into any file I am working on Illustrator always asks me about merging the swatches even tho there is only ONE color being used in my spec box file. My printer is losing patience b/c they think my files are a mess when I send them but my swatch pallet is clean and tidy on my end!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have this image, which came in the form of a jpeg or similar pixelated format, and I opened it in AI CS5 and did a live trace to vectorize it. it came out with a billion points. I had to add some "shading"--the black facets of the diamond--so I direct selected the facets I needed and then filled them black. Since then I've been trying to make the whole damn thing one shape so that I can put a stroke around only the outside of the diamond, but haven't been able to figure out how to do it. While I definitely started out with a diamond that was mostly white, with the outline in black, it is acting as if there is a black outline base layer with some white layered on top. I also don't know how that happened. I understand that I could use the pen tool and redraw this easily--that's not the point..

I created a piece of artwork for a t-shirt. The artwork is on the top layer and the t-shirt outline is on the bottom layer. How do I merge the two layer so that all the artwork outside of the t-shirt lines disappears? I don't want to see any of the artwork that sits off the t-shirt. I have been trying to do this with Pathfinder but I am not having success.

I have extracted a svg model from a PDF map, which leaves me with a lot of complex shapes that are not optimised.
For example, these shapes are all composed of a lot of unneeded sub shapes. When trying to merge them together via Pathfinder > Merge, I get :
