Using Illustrator I've developed an alphabet of letters that I'd like to turn into a font (otf file). I'm wondering is it possible to accomplish this with Illustrator or any of the other software in the Adobe Creative Suite? take these Illustrator SVG files, and make them into an Otf?
View 4 RepliesI followed the steps to create a font outline, manipulated the selected font, then moved to a new page-project - I inserted new type - it looks fine at 11 pt, but when I enlarged it, it still has the outline effect - also, the font becomes nothing but a black blob the more I increase the size - seems like the create outline command is still working on a new page.
How do I turn off the create outline command so I can return to regular fonts on new pages?
I tried Nexus font (finally) and don't see why people have mentioned it. I don't like it and uninstalled it quickly.Which font manager do you think is better than Font Nav?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to 2.8 and when I want to add some text this tool appears on top of the text box. No matter where I move the text box it chases my text box around. It is annoying as it covers part of my image and I don't need it there. How do I turn this thing off?
Also why when I choose New Toolbox I get this super long tool pane. I resize it to what I want. Then when I close it and do it again it comes back again. Any way to set this up correctly?
After opening a file from another designer, this Chinese font has taken over my "omens – regular" font file. Anytime I use it, it converts to this font and each time I need to change a font weight, I must do it manually. As you can imagine, I use our company font all day so this slows me down quite a bit. Have you heard of this? It seems like some sort of font virus. I've researched removing it, yet can't seem to find the original font file to get rid of, which is even weirder."
We tried moving the font family to the trash, emptying the trash, rebooting the machine, and re-adding the font family and it still is happening.
Is there a way to specify a given system font that should be substituted for a given missing font? For example, the document I'm working with contains CourierStd and CourierStd-Bold which are not installed on my system. I would like to set Illustrator so that any time a document that contains these fonts is opened, Courier New and Courier New Bold are substituted automatically.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI keep getting the error message "For the Photoshop UI to display correctly, open System Preferences, click Appearance, and turn off text smoothing for font sizes 8 and smaller." I go into preferences and into general but there is no setting to turn off text smoothing for a specific font. I'm in osx mavericks and all it says is "use lsd font smoothing when available" and when I uncheck it, the error message in photoshop still pops up.

How to bypass the print preview?
When I create something with an outline, the outline will increase or decrease in thickness as I resize the image. So if I have something at say 10" X 10" at 4pt outline, when I resize it to 2" X 2" the outline is like 5X thicker and messes everything up.
Is there a way to combine or something with a vector so the outline auto changes or never changes thickness when resizing the graphic?
I have CorelDraw 11. and I want to turn the Auto Caps off.

I've never used bullets in Corel Draw 12 before until today - regardless - they are not working.
Issue: When I select a bullet, the first one works - I then hit return and the next bullet is a ? with box around it. Looks almost like the program lost it's source path for the bullet to me?
Im new to X6 from version 9 so I'm pretty clueless (and I'm self taught at that). How do I turn off the "auto edge detect" or whatever its called? if you have something selected and you press the minus key on the numberpad, you get a copy and paste of your selection. Unfrotunatly, I do not see a place to change this ANYWHERE under customization. how this can be turned off?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a rather weird problem. I am using .dxf files as digital overlays on a new optical comparator we recently purchased. The problem is, the cad files we used to create our old mylar overlays is both 3d and comprised of text/curves/dimensions. I figured out the flattening and turning the text into lines and curves, but I cannot find a method to change the dimension graphics (profile boxes, length dimensions, and angle dimensions) into lines and curves.
When I import them into the comparator program only the lines and curves can be displayed on the comparator. Is there any way to flatten and make all of the dimension graphics lines and curves?
It's concerning the font SF Movie Poster
Two machines, both with XP, Corel Draw X3 13.0.0.576 and SF Movie Poster installed - BUT two different outputs.
Both Corels open the file and the characters with SF Movie Poster (I checked it by clicking in the words)
e.g. figure 1:
The first machine shows the number one as The other machine shows it like 1
I am new to Corel Draw. How do I arc font? I have a customer that wants some writting arced above her logo and below her logo. The only way I know how is to creat a circle and "Fit Text To Path". But then I can't seem to delete the circle without erasing the writting as well.

I have more than 1000 installed on an xp system. I know I don't need this many. I'm sure I could get by with 400 or less. How do you thin down your fonts? How many do you try to keep on your system?
What are you using for font management? Bit stream? Something else?
Current System: i3 3.07ghz, 3gb ram, Windows 7 32 bit with all updates and X6
I am trying to set the cut lines around a font that is an outline font and I can't get it to work - the outline just turns into the cut line and doesn't cut the font that I need.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have had this problem since I loaded CorelDRAW X6 (64-bit) in June, 2012 but was busy learning all that was new since the ancient version running on my equally ancient Windows98 machine. Up until this point, I have tried all of the directions in the manual, this forum and on the website which includes, "Save Settings As Default". (These instructions do not differ from those I use in the old CD package only where I make them.)
These are the steps taken:
Open CorelDRAW X6 starting a new file.
Go to "Text Properties" Docker & choose the font, size, etc.
Under Tools, select "Save Settings As Default", close CDX6.
Technically, these steps should have saved the new font with associated choices for all future files until I change them again, but it does not. When I open a new or existing file, my new font changes do appear on the Text docker so I choose the outlined A on the toolbox bar, my choices are still showing on the Text docker and now, also on the Property bar. As soon as I click on the workspace where the flashing cursor awaits input, the text properties change to Arial, 24 pt, which has appeared since I first loaded the package. Should I redownload and reinstall the software? If so, where are the preference files so I can save them?

My font navigator used to install the font automatically if I have it on the system but it wasn't installed. It has quit doing that. It tells me I'm missing the font then I have to manually go to the navigator and install it then open the file again. I've had this happen on multiple systems and versions of corel. I'm currently running X5 on Vista-64.
Just to clarify. When I open a file that I don't have the font installed for it will bring up a dialog box that says missing fonts. See screen shot below. The part that says install from Font Navigator is Grey and I can't select it no matter what. I have to take note of what fonts are missing then open font navigator, load them in and then re open the file. It worked fine a couple of weeks ago and then just quit.
