Oct 23, 2012I am working with a vector file that was created by someone else and am unable to get a hold of that person. It is of a logo and when I applied a colored background to the logo or import it into another file, the color of some objects of the log becomes very pale and "desaturated."

I create view representations with gas name and color the flow path for each gas in the named view. Is there a way to turn on all the colored overrides in one view to see all the various colors at once? I thought MASTER would show all colors but it does not. If not the only way would be to create the view of all gasses on and re-do all the work from all the prevous views.

Nov 8, 2013I'm printing some spot colors on colored paper, and wondering if there is a way in illustrator (CS6) to approximate the ink/paper interactions. Im worried about the ink color (greens) shifting to brown on a yellow/peach paper. I've approximated the paper color in Illustrator, and designated the pantone colors. I tried Multply- and the ink color definitely shifts to what I think it would- but not sure if that is the best way.

Nov 30, 2013I've been trying to make consistent gradients for a while now with no success. What I would like to do is make one gradient - say a dark red to light red - and then have a way to change the colors of that gradient without having to search for the correct hex colors for each one. So say I do the red gradient, then if there was some way to overlay something over it to change the colors instead of trying to find them myself.
I know you can do this in Photoshop, but I haven't figured out how to do it in AI. Perhaps there's an easier way I just haven't found yet. I've spent a long time trying to make gradients of different shades (reds, blues, etc.), but the problem is getting each color of the gradient to be about equal to the other ones.

The magic wand doesn't seem to do anything in illustrator. I did it in Photoshop and saved it as a PNG with trnsprnt background opened it up in illustrator and it was all jagged. Mar 6, 2013I want to create a right-angled triangle (just the three sides, no fill) where each side is a different color (say red, blue, and green). For generality, let's assume it's a scalene (rather than isosceles) right triangle. I want the weight of each line to be about 3pt. (But I guess that's not a crucial number. Let's say I'd like the sides to be 20 or 30 pts thick, for the thrill of it.) I know how to draw the three lines of specified width, make them different colors, and arrange them into a triangle. My problem is how to make the vertices (corners) look miter-joined rather than have them overlapping each other, which obviously looks terrible and like something an infant drew in Microsoft Paint. ;-) If I join the 3 paths into a single shape, they all become the same color, so I'm thinking I have to keep it as 3 separate lines (paths). The only solution I can think of is: Instead of drawing three lines of 3pt weight, draw three extremely thin rectangle shapes (about 3pt wide), one of each color, and rotate/position them so that they form the sides of a right-angled triangle. Then go in and do some visual surgery at the vertices to make the vertices look miter-joined.

Apr 10, 2007I'm using Adobe Photoshop 9.0 cs2 and I need help with a large color replacement project. I'm an amature video game designer making a level for the classic P.C. game Doom 2 and I'm creating a new weapon and monster for the level I'm creating. For the monster I plan to alter the colors of the frames of the original monster and change the dimensions of key features.
use an indexed color mode that were extracted into individual .png files.
Today I made the big mistake of changing the frames over to RGB mode so I can use the color replacement tools available in that mode. I should have done one frame first then convert it back to indexed color mode because the frames look terrible when converted back from RGB mode. What it is doing is using all the colors of the RGB color spectrum to replace various colors. Unfortunately what this means is that its using colors that are not in the color palette I loaded in the original pic and when I convert it back it looks terrible. There are enough colors in the doom color palette to produce the look I'm after but the automated conversion process from RGB to indexed colors does not pic the best matches in most cases. By doing this I am taking an image consisting of about 150 different shades of color down to about 75 different shades of color. I cant find any color replacement tools for indexed colored images and its going to take me forever to do all frames pixel by pixel so I need one of two things to be able to accomplish what I need. Either a better way of converting these images back, or some tool I can actually use in indexed color mode. If there is a way to select a pixel and change all other pixels of that exact color to a new color then I can just do it pixel by pixel that way. I need something here or I'm going to lose hours of work. If there is a way to load my color table into RGB mode to limit what colors it uses that might work too.
I would just leave the pics in RGB mode if the game im editing for could use that format but unfortunatly anything I convert to RGB will have to be converted back to 256 colors for it to work in the game.

Feb 28, 2012I have a PSD file that has a logo in white against a black background. I know how to change the black background to another color but I do not know how to change the white logo to another color and maintain the existing fade effect. The outer edges of the white logo fade into the black background.
If I was to change the black background to a green background (#808A53) then I would like to know how to make the white logo fade into the then green background.
Ultimately I would like to make the white logo a red color (#7d110c) that fades into a green background (#808A53) but I do not know how to do this as I am a novice with Photoshop.

Oct 23, 2012How do I create the swatch set and I can't get the logo layers colored in?
Choose the Magic Wand tool , making sure "contiguous" is checked in the Options bar. Select the rectangle under "Monochromatic (Single Hue)". Press Alt+Backspace (Windows) or Option+Delete (Mac OS) to fill the selection with the foreground color.Â
#Open the Color Picker and select two values of your base color. Apply your color selections to the "Values" swatches.
Next, select two intensities, and apply to the "Intensities" swatches.
Now that you've got your color palette, combine the colors into a swatch set. Use the Rectangular Marquee tool to draw stripes and fill with the colors you've selected above. This is a space to experiment with how the colors look next to each other.
Ready for the fun part? Make a selection around the client logo using the Rectangular Marquee tool. The logo has been separated into layers to make color application easy. First, apply color to the "bg" layer. Sample a color swatch using the Eyedropper tool , then press Alt/Option-Backspace to fill with color.
Keeping the selection active, click the "top curves" layer. Sample a color with the Eyedropper tool, then press Alt / Option-Backspace. Move on to the "middle curves" layer. Select a color, and fill.
