We've just installed CS3 on a new computer and in Illustrator the text that should be in the slug line will not print. All the text in the art and separations prints fine but no color separation info is printed.

This is what I did(You can find it under tutorials on my site):
"Create a new picture, 400 x 400 pixels, CMYK colour. Fill it with a medium blue colour. Then create a new layer and use the airbrush tool, size 65 pixels to create some red lines on the edges of the picture. You do not have to be very accurat on this... The red colour will be the aura around the gel. Another cool effect is to use the same blue as the background.
Run Gaussian blur with a radius of about 100 pixels, and set the layer to colour dodge. Choose Airbrush again, and set the size to 200 pixels. Drag it diagonally across the picture and you will have the gel effect."
I have two layers. One is set to red color, the other to blue color (using ctb). I have both layers defaulted to 1 mm line weight thickness. Blue is continuous and Red is dashed.
When printing the blue layer prints at the correct weight of 1mm, while the dashed red layer prints at a much smaller thickness. All line properties are set to default or bylayer (this is not being caused by the lines having individual special properties).
My company is exporting Postcards in Illustrator CS6. What we do is have a large data set imported into the Variables applet and use the Actions applet to record and export action and play it through the whole data set. We later combine the PDF files and print them as a batch.
My question is: Is there a way to create an action that will automatically print the data set while avoiding the print dialog box? It will make the process simple and move faster.
Also, what are your was of creating postcards? Catalogs?
How do people create a catalog with over 60 pages and keep the file size low?
I have a Samsung Laser printer. THe passive USB hub went bad yesterday, and I re-installed teh printer drivers. Everything prints fine from my on-line E-mail, Microsoft Word, etc. However, when I attempt to print from Adobe Illustrator I get a "Print to file" WINDOW that comes up, I never got this before I don't want to print to file (!!!!). I want to print to the printer.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am using live paint to paint cartoon character illustrations. The artwork is brought into Illustrator CS3 and live traced. Then I convert it to a live paint group and use the paint bucket to fill. Everything looks fine no matter how much I zoom in. If I bring the AI file into Photoshop CS6 I can see a thin white line between the black line art and the fill. This is most noticeable where black meets black. I can also see this sometimes in file previews while browsing through files. If the white line cannot be seen in Illustrator is the file ok? I did just upgrade to CS6 if that would make a difference.

I use CS5 and have now a small arrow on my line segment tool (as shown in the picutres):
Ever since that when i click shift, it just allows me to draw vertical lines, rather than vertical or horizontal.
when I (try to ) use Pencil and Brush tools, (cross-hatching), some lines get erased/replaced by the lines drawn close to them. It must have something to do with the preferences, but I am not sure what to change/adjust.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to export to pdf so that the lines match closer to the original drawing? I've tried using different pdf drivers, using trueview, exporting to a larger paper size (which improved output, but still not good enough). I know there has got to be a setting to increase the rasterization quality but the obvious ones don't work.
The firest image is an example section of the exported pdf and the second image is what it looks like opened in autocad.
I can't print with Photoshop (CS6). My printer (HP iP6700D) works correct with every program, except Photoshop. When I choose File>Print, there appears only an error-message. And the command-line turns into grey.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an issue with plotting line thickness, when I use the company setup using a d-size B&W.pc3 and mono chrome.ctb files, i can't seem to get the plotter to show line thickness. But using the same setup with a customer border, I can get the line thickness.
Also I not sure if this makes a difference, but the company plots from model space and where most of our customers use paper space.
Since switching to 2007 our company logo, a png image, plots with a line down the right side the image. It does not show up in plot preview or when plotting to pdf or dwf. I have set image frame to 0 and 2 with no change.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm doing some building drawings for Uni using AutoCAD 2010 and what is the best way (and process) to set line weights and types (dash, dot) for printing. What I’m currently doing doesn’t seem to be working and seems a bit inefficient.
The way I am doing it at the moment is that I have put all the various drawing elements on different layers with varying colours. I am then going through each layer in the layers dialog box and setting the line weight and line type as required.When in paper space or plotted the lines all come out solid/continuous and with same weight. (Note: I have used LTSCALE so that the dashes are viewable in model space). So here are the questions: Does the line weight and line type you set in the layer properties equal what should be printed? At the moment it does not for me. It is best to create all your layers and individually edit each layer for line weight and type, or is there a quicker way to assign line properties? I think I read that you could assign different properties to colours, but not sure what this means.
I have an object that I need to print . It is a cartoon man and a cartoon flag with text next to it . I have printed the whole thing without a cut and it worked fine .
But now I need to print it with the images cut out. I believe I will be able to put a contour around the font easily however the problem is putting it around the flag with man in front of it . right now it makes contours on the inside of the image. Its hard to explain ..... the flag is supposed to be white with blue and red in it . and when I printed it on a big sheet with no contour it was fine .. but now that I need to do it on its own the contour goes inside the flag because there is no rectangle shape around the flag .(no outline around flag) How do I put the rectangle around the flag as well as put a smooth contour around handyman?
I set up my line weights in layer properties. When I print in color, the line weights show up. When I print monochrome, the line weights are all the same size. I've messed with the LWT button but that doesn't seem to work either.
View 8 Replies View RelatedWe are facing the problem of some object/line missing while ploting/PDF for the Autocad 3d drawing.
We also tried for "HIDEPRECISION=1" command , even then not displaying it.
Then we use "OBSCUREDLTYPE=1" then the missing object display but other all lines get too dark in the same drawing .
For sample , I have attached one pdf , in which you can see the missing line and object marked with bluecolor box.
any other solution to display the missing object.

i would like to ask about plotting in autocad 2013. at the page set up i change my line weights and i put also the colour of each layer but the colours don't change when i create it in pdf and print the drawing and also the thcikness of the lines are not changed. what can i do?

View 8 Replies View RelatedThe lines apear with different width, but they have the same properties (layers, pen , thickness etc...). AND THERE s NO supperposed lines. The only thing different is one have vertex z, and the other only x and y.
Have tried following solutions:
match properties,
flatten image (all z with 0),
repair archive with audit, regen
copies past theses line in a new archive,
print with different printers...
nothing change.
Something more strange there, when i draw line they are with x and y vertex. When i draw circle it have also z vertex, wich made another apprarence... .
I've been killing myself with trying to get the following (acet-getvar '("BNS_EDITTIME_TOTAL")) in standard time format
rather than julian and then printing it to a file. I never found a way. So I'm figuring the next best thing is to just run the edittime command and then set a custom variable to report the last line of the command history. Then I can open a file and print it to the file. But alas my skills are lacking.
A plotting issue that has never been addressed perplexes me! When working in a paperspace layout and trying to plot or print by window or display, I get a partial print or nothing at all. Typically, I will get a partial print showing the drawing above a diagonal line. This has plagued me through many versions of Autocad.

why is it when i cut and delete a line from an object, after the line is deleted, there is another line appear automatically , and i can not select the line itself. how do i keep the object from closing??
View 2 Replies View RelatedUsing AutoCAD 2013 and TOL command to generate feature control frames. We set our lineweights based on layer assignments.
Problem is that when printing, AutoCAD seems to randomly assign a lineweight to the feature control frames. It can vary from what it's supposed to be (such as lineweight set for the dimension layer) or thicker than even what the object lines are set at. Seems to pick a random linewieght at time of printing for these elements (just the boxes, not the symbols/text itself).
Is there a setting we should be defining somewhere to force it to follow the lineweight of the layer that it has been assigned to? Known bug?
In LR4 print module the print and print one tabs are greyed out and I can't reset.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOur company prints large format graphics, an we like to use PS eps files as the file size is much reduced. However, the images fequently will not print until the file is closed and re-opened again, no matter what we are printing to, or even if a PDF is saved from the file, vector data is output, but not the eps images. This is putting a serious strain on our Graphics dept. as the files must now be revisited, and steps repeated.

The problem I'm having is when I try print something from Illustrator it crashes but when uninstall Adobe Acrobat it allowes me to print but still the top menu is a bit funny, file, edit, etc. could I down load a new copy of CS4 and us my serial number?
I could work with it but I work like to be able to us Adobe Distiller cause where I'm getting my stuff printed say thats the best way to say a pdf for better quality.
