The first image has a brick pattern and the second a grid. In the first you can clearly see some lines. I do not have any stroke on the objects and no other objects on the artboard. Is there anyway to get rid of these lines?
View 1 RepliesI played with the feature a bit and understand how to create the patterns. Problem is when I go to fill in my 12x12 space there are seams. I have chosen different sizes in the pattern window but all show up with seams when I fill the larger space. Am I doing something wrong or is the largest size you can create with this tool seamlessly only 9x9?
View 8 Replies View Relatedi create a pattern with the pattern maker, fill a square with the pattern swatch and rescale it, i always get thin lines inbetween the tiles. It is definately correctly aligned, and when i print it, you can see them too. I tried as well expanding the object, to enable "align to pixel grid" in the transform panel, I tried to uncross "anti-aliased artwork" under general preferences, i don't know what else I could do.

If you look at this example below, the pattern (behind the hands, log, etc) looks completely random. How would I go about recreating this effect? Would I need to draw the whole thing manually?

The small image at the bottom (just the area inside the artboard) is the spacing I want between the characters, but the pattern at the top is what I get.
I am fluent in Photoshop and semi fluent in Illustrator. I run CS6 for both.
No what I want to be able to do is create a repeating pattern that can then be printed as wallpaper and pasted to the wall. As you can imagine there are lots of hurdles to get your head round and I can find any support anywhere.
Traditional wallpaper is 53cm wide by 10metres long per roll.
The wallpaper will have either a 1/4 or 1/2 drop.
I need the pattern to repeat seamlessly top and bottom and left and right because its wallpaper! I have been experimenting with the pattern tool in illustrator but with no real luck. I can create a pattern that drops by 1/4 or 1/2 but it gets all weird on the vertical repeat so its unusable.
How can I create a tileable line pattern like the one on the image? (Illustrator CS5)
Is there a more practical way than drawing and duplicating lines? When I do that, and fill a shape with the pattern, I see gaps between tiles. Do you remember the same pattern on Microsoft Word? I want to create that, on Illustrator. Which method should I follow?
I am trying to create a seamless pattern brush in CS6 .When I use the no fill/no stroke bounding box placed behind the object to define the repeat, instead of cropping the object for the brush, it overlaps it. Here is an example:
When I do this in CS5- the bounding box works fine and crops out the space outside. Was there an update in CS6?
How can I create this verticle pattern within a circle? I have tried using pathfinder tools to stamp out the repeated verticle lines but that doesnt work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm on the brink of insanity with creating my diagonal line pattern. I've tried everything I can think of but the pattern is an absolute mess! I want to create a diagonal line pattern but I want the lines not to be uniform. Basically I've made a group of 3 lines and then one separate line on its own, then to repeat this as the picture below. I've used the distribute function so the distances between the lines is identical everywhere. I've then rotated the whole thing exactly 45 degrees and aligned the lines to fit the bounding box in the "make pattern" mode as shown. Yet the resulting pattern is just a mess of overlap ugliness. All I want is for the pattern to literally look as it does in the image on the left, how to sucessfully do this in CS6?

The pattern brushes that are already installed with illustrator have very smooth corner points that blend well, even around quite sharp inner and outer corners. But when i create my own pattern brushes, i just dont seem to get it right.

When i migrated to the CS5, the exactly same pattern always have a fine line in between the pattern swatches. After i export the artwork to jpg in 300dpi, they are still there.

I have a circular part on which I have created a linear pattern (using the rectangular pattern feature) of holes, 6 in total listed as 3 ccurrences. if we number the holes 1-6, I would like to make a circular pattern based off holes 2 and 5. I have been unable to figure out how to select the individual "occurrence" related to the hole once in the pattern feature. If I create the circular pattern first and then the linear and try to suppress the others it supresses both holes in the occurrence.

If, for example, I create a line which I want to duplicate, I hit Cmd + Shift + M and I select the distance, then I hit Cmd + D to duplicate. There's no problem here.
But if I want to duplicate the line progressively, in which I want to add 1 cm each time I hit Cmd + D, is it possible?
For example, I create a line, duplicate it 1 cm horizontally, and then I want the third one to be 2 cm from the second, the fourth to be 3 cm from the third, and so on.

I have a pretty basic knowledge of Photoshop and I am trying to change fabrics on curtains I have managed to do this but now I am trying to use pattern maker to create a tiled pattern with a fabric so it repeats correctly I have worked out how to start this off but every time I generate a pattern and tile it it becomes distorted I have tried increasing the sample detail but this just seems to distort it more.

I'm having a couple of problems: 1) if I put the network lines on the map it looks too flat so I think I need to apply them to a slightly larger invisible sphere; 2) when I add a blur/outer glow to the lines they do not wrap cleanly on the sphere, they kind of break up and distort. Plain lines do not seem to have this problem but objects with effects do.
What I need to do correctly, I'm sure the picture will explain better. I know I could use multiple masks stacked on top of each other or some similar method, but I'm looking for something less convoluted and neater.

How do I get my wide polylines to show correctly? Is there a setting I should know about?

I'm trying to create a star icon with lines through it. I used the star shape builder tool and then the line segment tool, but the lines are not being recognised as part of the star shape. For example, when I try to turn the star, the lines remain in the same place. This is pretty much exactly what I am trying to make, but I can't form the segments into one cohesive, editable shape.

When I create a pattern that is NOT tiled in Grid (i.e. Brick), it usually works without any problem. But once I save and re-open the file, opening the pattern in PM again will show this message:
A clipping mask was created around the pattern tile bounds to preserve legacy pattern appearance. For best results, release the clipping mask when changing the tile size or editing art that overlaps the tile edge. I would then find that, instead of a single motif layed out in a Brick tile, I would have one complete motif in the center and four quartered motifs on the corners of one clipping box. This is tiled in a Grid pattern to emulate a Brick appearance.
So long story short, what's supposed to be a Brick tile turns into a Grid tile that's faking a Brick tile.
Is there a way to keep the simple Brick tiles?
today I had opened my photoshop file which I was coloring ( a comic page) I allready spend 3days on this comic and I just don't wanne start over .I was working on it in CS6, As friends suggested I had opened it aswell in CS5 to try if it works there but no it didn't. I also placed it in AI, but sadly again the ugly line picture shows up .

I tried the command "spline" and paste the coordinates and "pline" + paste; the result consists of two straight, collinear lines.That's not going to fly.
I tried to set the "units" in meters and the precision to 0.000000 thinking the values were too small and had been rounded which lead to the lack of curvature but the result was the same; then I reduced the number of points but to no use.
create a PNG that when overlayed on an image only shows when its on top of black.
ie the image underneath is black and in some spots there is color. Wherever there is black I would like the overlayed png to show. Wherever there is color I would like to the overlayed png to be transparent.
i'm using illustrator cs5. making a pattern containing a pattern. i have some illustrations that i've put a simple polka dot pattern behind. in order for illustrator to accept it as pattern, i've been expanding the polka dot part before dragging it over to the swatches panel. however, when i do this it slows everything down tremendously and usually makes the system crash.

Problem with command from Home tab - Draw panel - Curves drop-down - Create Curves Between Two Lines OR Create Curve on Two Lines.
If you select the Degree option, it draws a zero length curve when you type in a valid number for degree of curve. I have tried entering it in decimal format and as ##d##'. NOTHING WORKS!
I would LOVE to know how to do a diagonal line pattern where the lines' width are bigger than 1px.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIm printing a file that has multiple images within it. The file is a PDF created out of indesign. the images within indesign are PSD's and High Resolution. When printing this file at work on a konica Minolta biz hub, everything is fine. I take it to the professional printer and just 2 of the 12 images appear with what im going to call screen lines..? Im sure there's another name for it. Ive seen these lines before on the screen and if u zoom in they disappear.
The image is doing this over a fine fabric pattern. I feel like its a problem when their printer is ripping the file...? or is it in the image and my printer doesn't have as much quality and misses these?
Ive attached a file to show the effect thats printed on both my printer which is ok and theirs which isn't.
when copying a linked model in the host file to multiple levels, why the detail lines are showing in my level from the other levels?
