I'm having some problems properly opening an Illustrator Template file in CS3 that I saved when I was using CS5 (I use CS6 now). My co-worker uses CS3 and can't open the template I made using CS5. I haven't found an option anywhere to be able to downsave the template file to an earlier version. allow my co-worker to open the template file without having any compatibility issues?
View 1 RepliesOur company recently upgraded to the Creative Cloud, but our problem occurs with our customers who have yet to upgrade from CS5. We provide the files in PDF format, but unlike with .ai files, I can't find a way to save a PDF in CS6 making it fully compatible with CS5. It's of course possible to open the PDF in CS5, but the text gets fragmented into clusters of sometimes words, sometimes a few letters, which makes it unwieldy for customers who need to edit the original.

Is there any way I can save a PDF in CS6 so it retains the text as in the original, when opened in CS5?
I have cdx5 (fully patched) running on a windows 7 pro x64 machine (c++, directx, updates all current) that has an issue when saving a file to a mapped network drive. The file will save error free but when you try to open the file again at a later date it gives a c++ runtime error (this application has requested the runtime to terminate in an unexpected way).
If i save the file locally then move it to the network share it seems fine. It can be opened and edited with out issue.
CDx5 needs to save to the mapped drive as the server runs onsite and offsite backups. There is a large volume of files that are changed/created daily. Saving locally and then copied to the server manually is also not an option as the user cannot be relied upon to ensure the files are copied to the server.
I made this two different small project yesterday. Now, opening them and I see nothing in the content area and no time line at all, no assets or symbol shows. It is as a new satring file. I tried opening the html file as well but got the same result. I still can run the html file and see my project but can not open them in Animate and do any modification.

I am on a Mac and installed all the software a few days ago.
When I open a .dwg file from a saved location auto cad crashes about 35% of the way through loading. I did not have this problem when I was running Windowws XP but now I am running Windows 7.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've always in the past brought a logo file that a graphic designer provided into Illustrator and then exported a psd so that I could bring it into Photoshop on layers and get the exact size, etc that I've wanted and since Illustrator CC I've not been able to do this with any .ai files that I've been given. It always gives me this message after I've gone through the process: "Photoshop file could not be saved" no matter what the settings are. This means I have to use the eps file that was provided which is not nearly large enough and when I try and resize it ... what a mess

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have filled a dot in the "I" of a logo with a radial black gradient to represent a ball. When I save as a pdf, the once gradient ball turns to solid. I tried saving the file in ai first and then saving that file to pdf, but that produces the same results. When saved as a jpeg for web, th eimage is perfect. Must be something I am missing in the pdf settings...?
View 12 Replies View RelatedMade a simple type and shape design with a solid backdrop. When I tried to export via save for web to jpeg with high settings, it came up online with subtle but visible alterations. Behind my shapes are speckled like dust, it looks super low quality.
I tried using ps to save instead, I even tried removing the backdrop and remaking a whole new document and just moving select items over, then recoloring..which was not the best attempt but same result.
I'm not exactly sure what her color settings should be to avoid this. Im working at 6500 x 6500 right now. Here's a visual of the up close issue. All over its less quality. And Im saving at top jpeg settings in RGB. I really don't want to tell her she has to begin all over again.
When a raw file badge shows that the file has been changed, I use Metadata Save to File & for the large majority of my images, the badge goes away and Metadata Status Changed does not show the file. For some of my files, however, the Save to File command doesn't work properly. If I am only displaying files with changes, the file briefly disappears, then returns. Even if I go to Windows Explorer and delete the xmp file, then again Save metadata to file, it pops up again with the badge saying it needs to be saved. I'm using Lightroom 4.3 64 bit on Windows 7.

After saving the file as a PDF in Illustrator using the [Smallest File Size] setting, closing the file, and opening the newly saved PDF in Illustrator - the 6.5 pt. text is now 5.53 pt. with a vertical scaling of 117.65%.

This PDF is for client review purposes - on screen or laser print - not for reproduction. We try to keep the file size as small as possible to make downloading and e-mail attachments manageable.

In this case, my client is opening the PDF in Illustrator to double-check the text point sizes for legal & regulatory purposes.
If I save the same Illustrator file as a PDF using other settings like [High Quality Print], the text size is unchanged.

 I was able to repeat the issue using Helvetica LT Std in place of Helvetica Neue LT Std.

I just started using the CC version of the design products this weekend, and yesterday I spent all day working on a design in Illustrator. Today if I try to open it, Illlustrator just hangs - and eventually I have to force quit. I get no error messages at all.

I can open the file in my old version, CS5.1. And really, I shoudl be able to open it where I created it.

This is not a particularly large or complicated file.
When I open my .max file I always get the Missing External Files message: glare_streaks_star_camera_filter.tif. I've already tried to re-link it but where the .tif file is and why its added to my project..

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have Windows Vista (not sure if that makes a difference) and when I save jpegs as a new jpeg (or even if i just click 'save'), the new or improved jpeg does not show up in windows explorer. It's as if they don't even exist.However, I can find them if I open them through CS3. I've tried 'save as'. i tried saving as a copy, renamnig it, saving for web and devices as a jpeg, saving, yeah. And I'm not saving them as progressive jpegs, either.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having a bit of problem with my CS6 Illustrator and it started in illustrator CS5, I can create an eps file within Illustrator save it as CS6, but when i go to open it again i get an error " Can't open the illustration. The illustration exceeds an implementation limit. I get an option to click ok and when i do i get a blank artboard with nothing on it.

I can see the artwork preview in the finder window when i select the eps file, I can open it in photoshop, convert it in preivew and if i place the file back into illustrator i can see the artwork and click embed to edit it.
I have come across an odd issue! I have an object built and saved as an illustrator file, which has some knockout type (transparency). When I placed this object in another illustrator file, all is well, and I save this new file. When I reopen the new file, I noticed that illustrator has moved the placed object very slightly. I have looked at other placed files and objects in this new file and illustrator doesn't seem to affect those. Every time I resave the file, illustrator adds the same shift to the objects current position. If I just open the file without saving, the position stays as is. The shift is added by illustrator when I save the file!

what may be causing this issue and how to prevent it? (I suspect it might have to do with the knockouts but I can't figure it out).

PS: Another strange thing is that when I tried to save the object-with-knockout as an EPS file from illustrator, the EPS file discarded the transparency.
Why does my illustrator file open in outline mode? Why won't it allow me to switch the view mode to preview instead of outline? It is a larger file but my computer should be able to handle it. It recently froze on me and now I can't get it to preview when I open it.

Normally Illustrator would show the last directory I used. For that matter, Illustrator also does this when I want to save an Illustrator file. It's a bit annoying when I have several documents I want to save into the same directory or folder and I have to click to the right directory for every document I made, because normally Illustrator shows up the last directory I used.

I use Illustrator CS5.5 on an Imac running iOS 10.8.2.The second problem I have (with Illustrator as well as InDesign) is that after my iMac hasn't been used for a while and it goes to sleep, after waking up, both Illustrator and InDesign crashed. This problem doesn't occur every time, but every now and then.
I have several book cover designs that I've been working on in CorelDraw saved as CDRs, but now when I go to open them, they open as CDRs in Corel Photo Paint, I don't understand why? I've tried the Open from File Menu and then Save As CDR , but it doesn't work either. Is it possible I clicked on something I shouldn't have? Also, I need to separate the background from one of the designs in bitmap, the image is as if its all grouped together and won't ungroup or let me edit it, I did not save in layers or masks (any other way I can still try and edit it?

I work with several files at a time and it can become annoying when you open several files and a minimized file keeps opening after each one. I don't want to have it open in the background, I just want it to stay minimized until I'm ready to work with it.

It was working perfectly fine over the weekend and then Monday I open illustrator and try to open a drawing I was working on and it closes on me everytime. Now I can't open or save files without it closing itself. I would uninstall and reinstall it but i lost my code. I have to make vector images for a couple of clients of mine!
