I want to take a blue color and make some monochromatic colors out of it.
1. I know how to add white/black through the brightness value in the color picker, though how do you add gray?
2. Are there some guidelines to how much white, black and gray you add to a color (in this case blue)or do you just pick any amount you like?
I was mid-project when I realized my greys had mysteriously become tinted blue. I then continued messing with every color setting I could find, but nothing worked. And I'm sure it's not a display issue, because my other projects appear just fine. My whites are now (3,0,0,0), in both the document and swatches.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm running Windows 7 64Bit running Adobe CS5 Master Collection. But ever since I allowed CS5 Photoshop to control my printer (HP Photosmart Prem 310-C) to do a test print of a graphic that I created all of my Blues print a violet/blue color, no matter what color blue. It has even affected MS Word & MS Project when I try to print blue colored font or Gantt Chart blues will no longer print blue, but will print the same blue/violet color. I've even tried a brilliant blue which will all view great, but prints the same shade of violet blue! All my colors and Blues will view great! I've calibrated my monitor and I've reset my printer several times and still the same thing! I never had this problem before I downloaded Adobe CS5! A strange thing is that I can run check printer test and the data & image that is stored in the printer will print blues perfect, including running a copy direct from the scanner bed and it will produce perfect blues. I almost feel as though Adobe CS5 has possessed my PC and printer, how do I get it back to printing like it did before installing CS5 Master Suite?

for years I used Epson r1800 on printer management it usually matches the monitor image quite well I had not had any success using adobe color mgmt in the past
the images I am printing are sRGB and now they don't match at all they are too dark and cool (bluish) If I change the monitor to the match the printer then all of my files will look bad on screen changing the printer setting did not seem to change the actual prints
I understand the technique for changing colors of an object (New Adjustment level | Hue and Saturation). The question I have is I am trying to change a t-shirt color from Blue to a white color. I have used all the adjustments and cannot get close to white.
View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently we have been having this issue at work, We have a line of packaging that uses the same pantone color (375 C). When we go to create a new document and use that same pantone the color onscreen looks more saturated then its predecessor. The only think I can think of is that I've upgrade to the pantone plus system but have since uninstalled and reinstalled the old color books. Both documents are in CMYK color space and both use the same ICC profile. I know it wont appear this way when printed but we make a lot of PDFs for approvals and the colors come out more saturated in the PDF as well. See sample image below.

I been through tons of pantones, art books, etc... All the pinks look like pastel or extremely dull, not bright at all, like that hot pink, neon pink type of color.
1. is there a certain pantone/color/etc that will give me that hot pink color that will look hot pink on a website? if so what is it?
2. if there is no color for this, is there some way to simulate it?
Everytime I select a color in Illustrator it has the "Out of gamut" warning and the color I want appears darker and different then how It looks in the preview of color picker. It is making the colors of my design really ugly. This problem also seems to be happening when I select a color in Indesign, but I'm not sure if this is caused by the same thing.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been looking around for a script that will take the used spot colors in a document and place them in a predetermined spot. I've came across several posts about this, such as the COLOR CHIPPER although I think it's focus was on swatches. What is confusing is the part of making New CMYKColor or RGB or if I even need to do that. I've looked at other posts and the Adobe docs, but none seem to work. Adding the text isn't difficult, it's getting these spot colors to reflect what's in the document that is. From what I'm seeing now:
I may have to use some other type of script such as Applescript to get rid of unused swatches first throught the actions panel, but I'm not sure.I could possibly use the getByName method to call out the specific rectangle and the and relative callout with the appropriate color instead of having to position everytime.
I'd like to make it easier for our 100,000 designers to use AI to make custom products using a laser cutter.
Current Practice
Designers open our AI laser cutting design templates, add their designs using the AI settings our online pricing system can read, then upload their designs to our website for instant pricing, making and shipping.
The Problem
Designers have to manually setup AI with settings that can be read by our online pricing system. If they get these settings wrong, our system can not read their designs. So they are rejected and can not be priced or made. This happens more often that you'd imagine.
The Solution
Designers do not like design rejections. So I'd like to eradicate them by providing our designers with a version of AI that provides the following settings only:
* Set document to RGB
* Stroke weight = 0.01mm
* Stroke colors = RGB 0, 0, 255 and 255, 0, 0
* Fill color = RGB 0, 0, 0
This will mean designers have a very limited number of AI choices, with nothing to distract them or to get wrong. Which will result in less (or zero?) design rejections. And products made faster than before. Rejoice!

How do we program our AI laser cutting design templates so that when they are opened in AI, they auto set AI settings as defined above?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using a mac running illustrator cs5 and have about 4 thousand eps files (all vector paths filled with black) that need to be assigned colors randomly from a defined color palette (25 custom swatches). The first 2 swatches should be omitted- they aren't relevant to this task.
The script should open the file select all vector elements and assign a random color form the defined custom swatch palette then save the file and move on to the next.

I am trying to use the Pantone Fashion and Home / Paper color library provided by the Pantone Color Manager, specifically for using the Radiant Ochid 18-3224 TPX (Color of the Year 2014). I saved the named library to a *.ase file and opened it in Ai. From the number of colors I guess, that all colors are imported but I can't find the 18-3224. BUT there are lots of "Unnamed Global Colors" with some of them wich might be the one in question. Using 'xxd pantone.ase' in the terminal I can find at least the name "Radiant Orchid 18-3224 TPX", which means, that it is saved in the given file.
I am trying to make business cards in Adobe Illustrator using the Pantone Color System. In my logo, the middle circle is a dark grey: C20 Y20 M20 K80. I can't find a suitable Pantone grey that is this dark. Pantone 425U is too light. Also, which Pantone Black is the darkest?

The color pallette is also appearing with the same blue-purple colors. In the layers pallette - the icon of the image appears in the normal colors and no filters, etc. have been applied. It's all starting from when selecting the photo to be opened in photoshop.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently installed CS5 on my laptop after first removing it from my previous machine.All licences were validated so no problems there.Now when using paint bucket in Photoshop, the colors that I select in the color picker are not the colors that result when I use the paint bucket.
If I create a new black canvas then the colors selected in color picker work with paint bucket.But if I attempt to recolor the background in an existing image that I import into Photoshop, I get the mismatch with colors when I use paint bucket. My method for selecting colors is the same in each case, I select 'set foreground color' and set the color using html values entry at the bottom of the panel.
I was wondering if there is a way to make a color image monochromatic, not necessarily gray scale, but for instance using a range from white to blue to black, or maybe just scales of blue?

if it's possible to create a brush that uses two colors rather than one with transparency.. I know about the foreground/background color jitter within the brush options, but I need it so that when I paint using this brush it actually lays down two colors per "stroke".
Actually, I imagine what I'm trying to do would be considered cloning rather than brushing. I messed with the clone stamp tool a bit, but couldn't achieve the desired effect.
Lastly, this is what I'm trying to do:
I am trying to duplicate a large amount of dollar bills, and I want them scattered and at random angles.. something the brush dialog offers the right options for of course. Manually placing them and rotating is definitely not an option. When I paint them in using a custom brush, all the dollar bills I've painted in already show through because the white areas of my custom brush translate to transparency - the result is an indistinguishable mess of black.
I'm using Illustrator CC (on a Win7 Pro machine) at a beginner level, probably halfway to intermediate. I'm trying to learn how to blend colors together for highlights of various types (skin tones, clothing, light on objects, etc.) so that when I'm making a graphic for a project I'll have a decent idea of which tool/technique is best for the specific effect I need.
I'm trying to use the Smooth Color option in the blend tool. Late yesterday afternoon I recall creating two ellipses (one of which was a solid fill and one of which was a gradient going from black to transparent) and getting a smooth color transition between the two. It was a much harsher effect than I was looking for so I didn't keep it. This morning, while trying to replicate the same thing, I seem to be unable to use smooth color between two objects if one or more of them has a gradient applied. I only get what you see below, which is a step between the two objects.
I've done searches and found multiple references to blending gradients in this way and have followed those instructions (create the shapes, fill with the gradients, then either click on the Blend tool and click on the center of each shape, or click on Object -> Blend -> Make) but I can't seem to get a Smooth Color blend if either object has a gradient applied. Am I missing an important step somewhere? I'm 95% sure I accomplished it yesterday and nothing has been changed since then.
Is there an option or a workaround that will eliminate the white boarders in a Corel trace? Whenever I do a trace, when I move the trace off the top of the original image, I see a white boarder around each color. Is there any way - when tracing - to tell Corel to use the fill color as the border color for each element of the trace?This would make the trace immediately usable without hand selecting each color cell.
