Nov 2, 2012Is there a way to make all the text in the palettes of illustrator larger?I know you can do it as a setting in photoshop.Is that a program feature or an OS feature?

Aug 30, 2013Sometimes I have to subtract some outlined text from a larger shape. Usually I just select the shape, and the text group, and execute a compound path. Works fine.
Occasionally, this method is not so convenient If I need to knock out additional outlined text into an object that has already been compounded with some other elements. For this, I use the Shape Tool, minus-ing out the additional text,
What I've noticed is that as I do this, the process gets slower and slower as each path is minus'd out with the Shape Tool. Eventually it can take as long a minute or more to remove more areas. Then I discovered something. I uncompounded the final result to discover that the Shape Tool creates hundreds and hundreds of duplicate paths. And very specific duplicates at that. Here is what I discovered:
I can only draw the conclusion that there is something seriously wrong with this tool. Surely all those extra path copies hidden within the resulting compound path can't be right.

I have an image that is 1600 px wide and I want to trim the sides to 1260. When I start to even type in the smaller size, the file size indicated is larger (that was my first suspicion that something was not right). And sure enough, it is making the image larger?

Jan 4, 2014I am using Photoshop elements 10 with windows 7 on my Toshiba laptop.
I am trying to make a slide show of photos for my brother's funeral. The photos will be shown on a screen at the church and on a TV monitor at home. I was used to Photoshop 4, but had purchased but not really used Photoshop Elements 10. I am about 1000 miles away from home so I cannot go back to try to using Photoshop 4 which is not on this laptop. I don't think I want to change (i.e. resample) the pixels, etc.
I have put into order all of the photos. However, the photos are of varying sizes. The photos taken digitally are fine. However, I have a lot of photos take a long time ago for like 3X3 or 2X3, i.e. like in the 50's - 90's, which were scanned. Then provided to me in a variety of ways. Coming to me they are small on the page. ie like in one corner. I am not trying to shrink these photos. I am trying to resize them larger. And probably get rid of most of the white background.
Illustrator :: Layers Palette Disappearing Text And Icons?
Jun 12, 2013I have CS6 and I can not see the names, eyeball icons, lock icons and arrow icons in the Layers Palette. I see that the layers are there and when I hover my mouse over the layers the names and icon show up but they disappear once I click off the layers palette.

Aug 28, 2013I could edit an existing PDF made by another company, just change a few lines of text. The original file was around 3 mb. I add in a website, extension to the phone number, switch out the fax (That's it!) and save as a new version. It's now almost 30 mb. Why?? My work email won't let me send something of that size.. I tried saving as smallest file size w/ preserving editing and it came out to be 15+ mb.

Jul 24, 2012I re-opened a drawing this morning and found some text to be different height from the rest. When I attempted to adjust all of the heights to be the same using the properties method, they all became bigger. Instead of all of them going to 6", the 5" text went to 6" and the 6" text went to 7-3/16". So, I checked the formatting size and the properties size and they did not match. See PDF.

May 29, 2013in CS6 13.0.4 x 64, the PDF process is iffy for me. Sometimes it's fine. But other times, an incomplete image results. Is this related to the overall type bugginess that Adobe recommends we fix (which I've not yet done)...?

Layers sometimes stick to my curser and I can't unstick them until I go back to the palette and try to place them back where they orignally were. (I'll be really embarrassed if this is a new feature of CS6 that I've not figured out yet...)
Photoshop :: Making Color Palette And Pantones?
Sep 3, 2013I am wanting to select all colors from a certain image and have a color palette. I need this to send to a fabric printer, which will be printing digitally.
When I load the image into either PS6 or AI6, what is the easiest way to sort these colors? When I use a color table, I am getting too broad of a selection of colors.
Also, I will need either the pantone or RGB #s of each color in the image. I've been making a swatch palette and then selecting each image with an eyedropper to write down the numbers.

Illustrator :: UI Of Gradient Gets Much Larger
May 6, 2013I've used the Gradient Tool many, many times and I just now noticed this. I don't know if it's supposed to do this or not but I don't ever remember this happening before. As you can see when I use the linear setting and I change the angle to anything other than 0, the UI of the gradient gets much larger. This makes it difficult to edit especially when the angle is set to something like 45 degrees. The sliders are almost unreachable.

The text height & the width factor are the same since i created the attribute default by copying the mtext. when i close the block the text appears longer than the mtext it was created from.

Jan 21, 2014I've been working on this project in Illustrator for a day or two now. All of a sudden, all objects, both preexisting and newly created, have a very large purple bounding box.
In order to alter the size of the object, I have to find the corner of the large bounding box. I have a feeling it may be a setting I hit as this began happening after I was fiddling around with adding more artboards.

Jan 30, 2013When I create a new file in AI CS 6, the artboard is larger than requested size, which shows up as a box within the too-big artboard. For example, when I create a new file, I set the artboard size menu to 1200 pixels wide by 750 pixels high, but the artboard created is about 6,000 pixels high and wide, with a black outline of the 1200 x 750 artboard that I tried to create.The actual artboard is much larger than the white area; I just cropped most of it in my photo software to show it here. What setting in the preferences or other menus fixes this problem? I didn't have it until today, so something got set incorrectly somewhere. I usually just see the 1200 x 750 white artboard against the dark background. It also seems to be happening now when I simply open an existing file. The artboard has suddenly increased to an enormous size.

I now have the official release of CS6, and I am still seeing this issue. And for clarification, here's what the issue is:
- I start off creating a text layer with a font size of 20px.
- I then transform this layer to make it larger.
- I copy the layer over so I have identical text layers.
- When I select each individually, I am shown the new, larger font size, we'll just say 40px. But when I select both together, it shows the original font size of 20px in the character palette. When I increase the font size with both selected to say 30px, it actually makes the text more like 60px.
Will this bug actually get fixed?
Illustrator :: Transparent Edges In PSD - Larger Than Size Of Art Exported
Nov 26, 2012I have something going on when I export from Illustrator as a PSD using the artboard. It ends up with a line of transparency around the edges, and is larger than the size of the art exported. It gains about .01 inch around the edges, and when I use 'trim transparent pixels' in Photoshop, it trims it down so it has only gained .07 inches around the edges, but doesn't lose the last line of pixels that are semi-transparent. I am using a script that exports it, then re-imports it and places it in the Illustrator file, effectively swapping the vector for raster. It's part of a larger process I have no control of, so the process is not something I can change, otherwise I wouldn't do that.
Why is it exporting with this line of transparency on the edges? It's causing white lines to show up in the file that it gets reimported to. Until now it was ok because it only shows in the bleed, which gets trimmed off. From now on, though, this process is supposed to be used for non-bleed items, and the white lines are showing up.

When I expode or burst them, the dims text and arrows grow larger than is required for the block and I cannot find any adjustment in the properties to bring them back to the correct size for the detail. Also the leaders lose their point and association with their text and become just a line.

Dec 29, 2011the expression in question is part of larger lisp routine to create and rotate text based on the object selected and the viewtwist variable (we use dview twist to rotate our views when needed)
So the expression in question:
(< (/ pi 2) ang (* pi 1.5)
where ang is the total angle used to determine proper rotation of the text.
Now the problem. In most cases where ang = 90 (or 1.5708 radians) this works fine. the two exceptions i have encountered
in testing are a line at 70 degress, viewtwist 20, and line at 50, viewtwist 40. For whatever reason at these two conditions the expressoin evaulates True instead of nil and rotates the entire text object incorrectly (180 degrees). So question is how exactly is this being evaluated? i know its comparing ang (* pi 1.5) to (/ pi 2). is there some sort of rounding error? or maybe the expression needs a wee bit more definition? attached image and full lisp routine for reference of what is happening, blue text is angle of the line as created by routine at viewtwist 0.

Apr 12, 2013I want to make flyers for my band. I used to put text onto jpeg images using the Microsoft PAINT program but I want to get better at GIMP.
I really like some of the text(s) I make using the word art function in Micrsoft Excel 2010 but it seems I can't cut and paste them onto the image when using GIMP.
Is there a tutorial on putting text onto an image and making the text glow like a light saber?
AutoCAD Map 3D :: Text Properties In Palette
Sep 10, 2013I'm working in AutoCAD Map 3D 2014, just upgraded in fact. I'm working with older drawings that had their text added by a trained chimp in simple text (Command: TEXT as near as I can figure). In updating these specification drawings, I'm making fonts the same size, updating material lists, correcting typos and just generally wiping off the banana chunks and drool.
Unfortunately, the properties palette no longer populates with all the text info like it did back in my 2010 version. In fact, the displayed values won't actually change when I select ANYTHING. Except it does go blank if I select something and then hit Ctrl 1 to get the palette.
I've hunted through Customize Palettes and Options under the Tools Menu (Map Classic workspace customized).
