So, created text -- added warp effect. What I'd normally do is just then expand -- then unite -- then stroke it. But -- I'm sure there's a way where I could keep that text and effect editable while adding a stroke to look as if I united so the stroke follows the group and not the individual letters.

Just checking -- there's no way to directly animate the thickness of text stroke, is there?
EDIT: Ah -- by using a stroke Animator, it can be changed over time.
When I scale my artwork I have scale strokes and effects checked but the effects dont appear to be scaling. They look as though they arent even there at all after the scale. Am i missing something?

I have created a compound shape and then used it as a mask to clip an image to the shape so that the vector image is the background to the shape I created. Now, I have text over parts of the shape and I would like to cut the text out of the compound shape. I.e. A hole through the object in the shape of the text. Also, I should probably note that the object that I want to cut the text out of is considered a "Clip Group" in the Layers panel.
I have tried a number of different options that I have found on forums, etc but none seem to work. So far I have tried:
1. Converting the type to an outline and then selecting the Clip Group and the type and then making a compound path. The result: An error starting "Can't make a compound path. A compound path cannot combine a clipping mask with an ordinary path."
2. Selecting the type and the Clip Group and then using Minus Front in the Pathfinder panel. Result: An error stating "The filter produced no results. Please select two intersecting paths."
3. Selected the type and set the transparency to 0% in the Transparency panel then selected the type and the Clip Group and then tried Difference and also Exclusion. Result: Nothing but transparent type.
I am attaching a picture of the object and the text I want to cut from it and also the Layers panel.
I run a screen printing business and I recently added some simple design services to my clients to bring in more business.I have attached the graphic which is a mock up of what I'm trying to do with the text.
I'm looking to have the white knockout to the background color. it's a black text in the center, a (what should be) knockout outline of that black text and then another black outline outside of that.how to set it up, order and arrange the text so I can simply keep the look of the white knocking out to the shirt color.
I have done this a thousand times, and not had a problem. Basically I tried putting a gradient into text, and nothing happened. I tried it on a shape, and it worked fine. So I went to the appearances panel and added a new fill for the text. It worked, but even with the stroke disabled, there is still a weird glitchy outline around the text?
I tried exporting the file as PDF to check if this is just showing up in program...but it shows up in the outputted PDF too!
I want to add a black border around the text so it accentuates the text.
I have made a rectangle and added black text on top of the rectangle and applied a mask and inverted and clipped the rectangle and text.
I tried to release the mask and apply a black stroke on the text but when I remask and apply clipping and invert the stroke turns the same color as the text.
I'm creating text that will be printed on a deep gray to black tshirt.
I created text, added an offset path to it with a gradient, and a deep gray color fill on top, achieving the gradient stroke. However, I'm not exactly sure what color the shirt itself will be, other than deep gray to black. And I didn't want the deep gray/black fill in my text to appear and look awkward on the shirt. Unless that is something I shouldn't be considered about.
To be safe, how would you create transparent text with a gradient stroke? I'm using Illustrator CS5.
I have text with two strokes apllied to it. I want to cut/delete the first stroke to have the apperance of a stroke that has a gap between the text fill and the stroke. Or if there is an easier way to have the outline apllied, expanded (for lack of a better term) off of the fill?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem with Adobe Illustrator CC 17.1.0 with colors, types and groups.
If I select a text or a group and try to change its color, the Fill color stays correct a the panel, but the text or the group maintains the old color, like the screenshot below.
The only way to change color its is selecting all text characters or all group's elements.
I just thought I would ask... and it may be impossible... Is there a way to convert text to a stroke/strokes instead of a filled path?

Let's say I have some text (black) with a black stroke on it. (It creates the look I want, without using BOLD.)
How can I convert this text to include the stroke as one entire object? No stroke, just one entire vector shape?
(I notice if you import text this way into Flash, convert to a symbol and fade up from zero opacity, you see the fill as a different value than the stroke value - very annoying.)
Is there a Pathfinder command that I can use to fix this text?
How do I give Lucida handwriting a 2pt outline stroke, give it an outline path, then unite it with another shape path without the text losing it's outline stroke?? I can't bold Lucida handwriting as it only has an italic option, so need to give it an outline stroke to achieve a bold letter. As soon as I give it an outline path and unite it to other shape paths the 'bold'ness disappears and it reverts to it's original size.

How do I get it so that the end of the line segment doesn't show over the black stroke of the object? If I try to put the line segment behind the object, then the object fill hides it completely.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen designing for the web, I often like to give text boxes a thin, 1-pixel stroke of a slightly darker color than the box itself. I've noticed that when using the Stroke layer style options, setting the position attribute to "Inside" and the blend mode to "Multiply" has the undesirable effect of multiplying the border color with the background, instead of multiplying the border color with the box color (see figure 1). This seems like a bug to me. The only way I have found to achieve the result I'm looking for is to create a duplicate shape above my box layer, set the fill to 0%, and then apply the stroke effect to that layer (see figure 2). Any way to accomplish this all in one layer? I know I could just set the blend mode to "Normal" and choose my darker color explicitly, but I want the layer style to be portable, so I can use it on boxes of any color and have the resulting stroke a darker shade of that color.I am currently using Photoshop CS4 on a Mac.

I'm looking for a way to use Photoshop or Corel Painter to "draw" an alphabet, while capturing the strokes as they are done in real time. I don't want to see the application's screen cursor. I also don't want to take the completed letter(s) and reveal them with a matte. This doesn't look real, and is also problematic where lines intersect. So, I'm thinking there must be a way to do a video screen capture, but I'm not familiar with applications that do this.

This example appears to have been done with real media, ink and brush. I'm guessing the artist may have shot video from behind a translucent substrate as the letters were drawn, and then flipped the video (so the letters weren't backwards). It looks great, but I'm hoping there is a way to mimic this effect on my Mac.
I'm trying to figure out a way to automate a simple, yet repetative process I do countless times a day. Ideally, I'd like to tie it to a keystroke to speed up my workflow.
I work on line art and colorways for footwear, so the way I'm coloring these shapes and strokes break apart the different materials and pieces of the shoe.
While coloring line art, I work with Pantone spot colors as fills for closed path objects. I then have to manually apply that same color to the stroke, set the stroke to 0.5px weight, convert that spot stroke color to CMYK, and add 15% to the K value.
I found some code in an older post for applying the actively selected object's fill color to the stroke, but I'm having but I'm having trouble with the next step of figuring out how to take that spot stroke color and convert it to a CMYK build that I can then add 15% black to. Is this something that's even possible? I've spent about an hour playing with the script and have only had luck matching the fill color or turning the stroke white.
Layer effects are enabled for the affected layers and the layers show the stroke effect active on the shapes, in a colour and size that would be very visible.
Is there some other overall setting I may have accidentally triggered?
I'm attempting to animate a stroke similar to the the new Siri interface in iOS7...The stroke is fixed at both ends but bounces relative to the users voice. How I could possibly recreate this in Ae or even tutorials that exist that follow this same idea?

I have an image that has a black stroke around it. I'm wanting to make that transparent and add a stroke to the outside of the black stroke, so it will basically be an invisible space there. Is that possible or is there an easier way?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've made a fabulous Smoke Text effect that I then insert the .mov file into Final Cut Pro. The smoke effect I downloaded from the tutorial has a black background and therefore when rendered out, it's a basic white text against a black background. Once in FCP, I have to turn the file's opacity down in order for it to layer over a video file and not black out what I layer over it.
How can I make the file transparent? A simple toggle of the transparency grid isn't going to do it. I need to make or find a video of smoke that is transparent?
I’m trying to add some text effects over my video, but I’m really stuck right now getting After Effects and Adobe Premier to work together.
From the tutorials I’ve watched online, I’ve been trying to create a dynamic link between the two programs so I could easily create texts and other effects in AE that immediately show up on my timeline in Premier. I've been able to create texts, but whatever I create in AE is not showing up on the Premier timeline. Am I missing a step? Also, when I load up my sequence into AE, all of the color correcting that I’ve done with Looks inside Premier goes away, and the clips appear as they did right out of the camera.
I have placed a text on a dwg file and placed a polyline around the same text.
But now I want to make both the text and the polyline as a Group, so that once we select text, the polyline should automatically be selected and vice-versa.
The attachment shows the Group, the Polyline and the Text.
I made a red rectangle and then positioned white text over it. I'd like to repeat that a dozen or so times in the image, just changing the text.
I assume I need to 'group' the text and rectangle so that I can move them together (I don't want to have to repeat the tricky positioning every time). And then just edit the text - but so far it's eluded me!
I'm using PSP8 but hopefully the approach is similar in later versions.
Even better, any script I could download that would make this sort of 'boxed label' simpler?
