View 4 RepliesI'm trying to place my ordinate dimension to a theoretical sharp corner and the dimension will only go to the end of the arc (see pict). I try and drag the dimension end point by selecting the end of on line and dragging it over, select the other line and drag it till the two yellow dots meet at the intersection.
When I let go of the mouse button to place the dimension it pops to one side or the other of the arc.
I have a banner heading that is more or less outlined text. I want to give all the corners a rounded corner and at the moment would just do it all by hand, one at a time. So I want to go from a to b:
But I would like to find an easy way to make all corners the same diameter regardless of the angle too.
I draw square. The 1st point and last points are left-top and finally set 5 points. The direction is clock-wise and made closed path.To get smooth-curved polygon shape, I used API 'PointsToCurves'.But, the first and last points are connected by cornered (not smooth) point. Here's result.
Maybe, I must set that square is closed path, to API, but it seems to be no parameter to set.So, I want to know how to get smooth corner shape every corner.I use SDK CS5.
The printout of my AI CS6 file on my Canon Pro 100 is pixelated. Is there a solution to retain the sharp edges?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am using Illustrator CS5. I am trying to put an outer glow on text that I have done the 'create outlines' to. My settings are Normal color is white opacity is 90% and blur is 10mm. I hit OK and nothing shows up. If I change the color I use then I get the glow. The thing is I need the white glow. Can I not use white or am I missing something else?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI need to create a glow around the brush in the attached image.
I have created this with (Effects > Outer Glow > White (Screen 90% opacity) > Blur 3mm
I can't say I am particularly impressed with the result. I wanted more of an obvious glow around the image.
I have put an effect on a path: stylise > outer glow. The pass is partly over a bitmap. The part of the path that's not over the bitmap has a normal glow, but the part of the path that is over the bitmap has a glow so weak , it's almost invisible. check the following link for a picture that shows the problem: [URL]
View 3 Replies View RelatedWorking with complex vectors is much better in Illustrator than in Photoshop but when I create my vectors in Illustrator and then pull them into Photoshop, they always end up being more blurry than when I work in Photoshop alone.
Is there some sort of trick in working between the two to retain pixel perfect bliss?
I have created a sphere shaped logo for a client in AI. I've used the 3D revolve function and mapped clouds over the top of it (the clouds were drawn initially as a shape).
The client is suggesting that the sphere is not perfectly crisp and that you can see some slight stepping in the curve around the sphere and the curve around the clouds mapped to the sphere. I've not come across this before (not sure if she's just being really picky, blowing the logo up too large for scale, or I'm just missing something really stupid!).
Anything to tighten the curve of the sphere so that it is crisper?
I can definately see her point in the clouds mapped on top of it - perhaps if I try more anchor points on the clouds path, that may tighten the curve on the clouds? Is this something I can do automatically?
Also, what are the best settings to export out for the crispest format (ie, Progressive Compression + 300 dpi resolution + Art Optimised sampling?).....

I am trying to create an object with inner glow but no fill (like the knockout option in the glow effect in Adobe Flash).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI applied an outer glow to my objects in illustrator but it just won't display.
I've hit some kind of hotkey that turns raster effects off or something, but I dont even know where to start looking. I've used glows in the past and its always a bit wonky but now it just wont do anything.
I've been using spot colors, but have tried it without to no effect, and I run windows 8. I want to apply it to the compound shape hammer time, I thought maybe it was not working because of the compound shape so I tried getting rid of my inside shapes, but its not really changing.
I did just notice that there is a weird haze around the top hammer time on this image, but ONLY if you turn your head and look at the monitor from a strange angle can you really see it. So it might just be that I screwed up my glow settings here.
I'm trying to get the glow to be very strong for about half an inch and the fade out.
I want to design letter S like following image with sharp edges and in vector, So that I will not loose quality if it made into any big size.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with copy paste from illustrator to photoshop. The pasted picture/element is rasterized and not sharp. I have this problem with vector element too.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSince upgrading the AI CC (17.0.0), when applying an outer glow effect to objects, the effect sometimes expands its appearance involuntarily after saving and closing the file. The outcome is similar to selecting "expand appearance" from the Object menu.
When the saved file is reopened, the outer glow effect has become is its own object, grouped with the original shape. You can no longer adjust the effect in the Appearance panel.
I keep trying to apply the same drop shadow to warped text, but AI automatically makes the text glow instead of having the drop shadow. I have tried retyping the text, copying the text from another file, and expanding the appearance befor using the warp and to no avail-- it always turns my drop shadow into a glow.

I've seen in other posts that the CornerEffects.jsx script should work. But every time I select my rectangle, go to File > Scripts > CornerEffects.jsx I get this pop-up.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI saw a vid a little while ago that showed me how to easily round one corner of a rectangle and I can't remember how to do it.
View 33 Replies View Relatedi would like to know how to measure the angle of this shape/radius i think it might be is there a corner angle i can see using some tool.
View 12 Replies View RelatedUsing Inkscape, I can easily create an hexagon with rounded courners. The result in below in yellow (the right hexagon). It's possible to see that not only the corners are rounded, but the entire shape is (the lines around the hexagon aren't completely straight). I am now trying to acheive the same effect with Illustrator CS6, but I can't find out how. The closest I got is the white hexagon below (on the left). The corners are rounded but the lines are straight.
How can I create an hexagon identical to the one in yellow above with Illustrator?
Specify the corner radius of a rounded rectangle?
View 13 Replies View RelatedI have a bent path, standard 90 degree corner. Illustrator CC is not allowing me to align the stroke to the inside of the path/corner. The inside and outside options are grayed out when this path is selected.
Of course, I can create a shape and then all three options for path alignment are usable. But if I cut a gap into the path of that shape it instantly reverts to a center aligned stroke. I can create what I need manually. But this is a time addition.
I'm working in Illustrator CS3. Recently the program has begun to do something I have never notice before. If I use the round corner's filter: Filter>Stylize>Round Cornors then every box I create after using it has rounded corners that I cannot get rid of. Things drawn with the pen tool also have rounded corners I cannot get rid of. The only way to stop the problem seems to be to open a new document and then the tools are set back to their default without automatically rounding corners.
Who do I use the rounded corners filter on a single object at a time and not get to automatically be applied to all subsequent objects created.
InDesign CS4 has a "Corner adjustment for dashed stroke" feature which allows corners of a dashed stroke to have the dash part instead of a gap or a small part of a dash. Interestingly, I cannot find this feature in Illustrator CS4. I believe it is included in Illustrator CS5.Is this feature indeed absent from Illustrator CS4?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am aware of 'round corners', but I can't find the command or tools to round individual corners. I searched the manual but can't find anything. Perhaps it's so obvious I'm looking right past it.
View 26 Replies View RelatedI have created a pie chart and ungrouped the slices. When I use the white arrow to select the slices, two of the shapes are missing a live corner widget in one corner. So, when I move the corners, some of the corners remain unchanged. Also, the large blue shape on the right will not change at all.
View 3 Replies View RelatedA friend asked me to create a logo similar to The North Face by using a song name. The upper right corner needs to be rounded allowing the color fill between the two silver parts. It looks somewhat ok, but as you can see it is not very proportional. I tried the aics_scripts file that I found from searching, but i can't get it right, most likely because the curve in the logo is not perfect. I have linked jpegs of 2 possibilities - the third image is made from creating a border in the appearance but then i cant get an additional outline around it with the silver color
