Illustrator :: How To Evenly Distribute Objects On Circular Path
Nov 6, 2013
When I use "object/blend/replace spine" it will distribute the objects evenly around the circle, but with no rotation. My issue is that I have objects shaped like people and would like them evenly around the circle, but rotated correctly so that their feet are all touching the circular path and their heads are always facing out. How can I achieve this?

I am fairly new to Illustrator, currently working on a project involving circular return address lables. On the labels, the address text follows a circular path with bullets between the name, street, and city/state/zip. Now that I've entered all of the text onto the curved path, how do I distribute it evenly along that path? In other words, how do I ensure that the same amount of space exists at the beginning and end of my line of text? Right now, there is "leftover" space at the end of the address.

I am working on a personal data visualization project but currently stuck and can't go forward. As you can see below in the image, I created all my data bars and tried to distribute them on a 360 degree path myself.
But clearly, I couldnt able to create a perfect 360 path.
All of the bars are each group objects on their own. I am sure there is a way to distribute them perfectly on Illustrator but I cant find it. There is a option on Blend>Replace Spine but it is not active.

Is there a method to evenly distribute objects around a circle? I understand the horizontal and vertical alignment tools, but I'm not sure how to apply them in this situation. Attached are a sample picture of what I want to accomplish and the .xar file (XDP7).

How can I distribute multiple objects without distorting them on a circle path?
I have a few objects that I want to distribute to a circle line. I've tried scatter brush (looked horrible) , pattern brush (what you see here). No matter what I do, those objects are distorted.
Clients may want objects to be as many as 30 or 40, so I hope to avoid switching the objects manually.

I'm working in Adobe Illustrator CS6 and neither the Distribute Spaces Option nor Distribute Object Option are working. It doesn't seem to matter if it's a print or web document. Doing the same thing to the same document/graphics in CS5.1 works perfectly.
Copypasteing the correctly distributed objects from CS5.1 to CS6 works ok, and if i then repeat the Distribute spaces option nothing changes and it stays correctly distributed. (read: it doesn't badly distribute like before)

I love the function in Photoshop in which you can stroke a selection with a brush. Was wondering if that was possible in CorelDraw X4 as well. I know that we can put text on a path, but is that also working with objects?
Since I like making patterns, I would like to place and distrubute objects along a circle or hexagon shape (and other simple shapes).

I need distributing horizontal strips of images into a 720x480 canvas. The images vary in heights and constant in width= 720 pixels. For example, i get a set of 17 horizontal strips. 10 strips with height of 8 pixels each, and 7 strips with height of 13 pixels each.
I need to figure out a math formula that will give me the spacing in between these horizontal strips that would allow me to put them evenly onto a 720x480 canvas.
they can not overlap.

I need an Illustrator script for distribute a collection of diferent symbols along a path. The symbols should be distributed from the beginning to end of path and separated a proportional space each other. Additionally each symbol should be rotated pointing to a "look at" object.
Please look at the attached image for further info.

Say I have a group that consists solely of five triangles. Is it possible to use simultaneously align or distribute functions on while selecting just those five triangles? It seems like I can align up to four triangles at a time within the group, but when I select all five Illustrator interprets that I'm trying to align the entire group with another object outside of that group. Key objects don't seem to be supported in this situation.

VERSION: Illustrator CC Mac
I've always assumed that the order of the layers determined the order and position that shapes are moved in the Distribute function.
I'm having a wierd problem today and the order seems to be defined by something I can't figure out. I'm trying to vertically distribute a set of the same shape and instead of counting the shapes in order from left to right or vise versa the distribute function seems to be randomly picking the order of the shape, not basing it on location or layer order.
In both examples I have used a Vertical Distribute Center and both groups of shapes are ordered from left to right in the layers palette with the left most layer being the first layer and the right most shape being the last.
What is causing the shapes to be distributed in this order? How do I specify what the order is if it isn't based on layer or position order?

I am trying to create a logo with curved text at the top and bottom of a circular image, with spaces at the sides.
So, Curved text along the top of the circle and then curved text along the bottom, alinged and with the same amount of empty space between the text at each side of the circle.
I am struggling to get the text to be symmetrical and aligned evenly

So i've got a stroke in a circular path. I use the scissor tool and cut a segment of it out. Now, i want to move one of the end points up and have the anchor points after it follow the movement to keep the smooth line. I think Flash had a tool like this. It allowed you to manipulate one point that would affect the whole path depending on how extreme or what direction you went.

Any way to distribute a set of variously-sized 2D objects on a 2D surface in Photoshop or Illustrator? Illustrator lets you align objects evenly along a 1D line, but I want the objects to basically fill a surface evenly.
A simple way of phrasing this is: I have a set of X objects of different size (or shape). I want them to be as close to each other as possible, but without overlapping. It should be easy for software to find the perfect composition to minimize "air gap" between them.
As a result, If I feed the program with shapes of various shape and size, I should get results like this:
wholesale-fabric-discount-store.com/images/Giraffe_Fabric.jpg (air gap between the objects is approx. mininal)
(air gap between the objects is approx. minimal)!

I'm trying to get the distribute tool to distribute some text objects (for a website menu) evenly. however, using the distribute section of the alignment tool only enables me to set an offset that measure the distance between the left, center or right edge of each object. if the objects are different widths, they will have varying distances between their edges.

I would like to write some sort of AutoLISP program to evenly space objects across a given distance. I have attached a .pdf file showing what exactly I mean.
I would like the program to enable me to either enter or measure (via the selection of two points) the "z" distance, to enter or measure the "y" distance, and to enter the number of objects, "n". I would then like the program to evenly space "n" objects across the "z" distance.
A program like this is, I have to be honest and say, way beyond my current capabilities.
Perhaps some initial guidance to get me going?

I could be wrong though it seems Illustrator only has centre points of objects and not midpoints of paths or paths on the side of objects. Can this be?
If there isnt one, how to locate accuratly the midpoint of a rectangle (which is on a 10 degree angle) on one of the short ends?
I have also tried to draw a path leading from the centre point of the rectangle running parrelell to one of the long sides, although it's not like Sketchup that works out your trying to keep the line running parelell.

Most seem to be for versions earlier than CS6, or they omit an important step or mention some function I can't find.I'm creating a state seal, with a blue band around the design. Inside the circular blue band, I'd like to type the words "Great Seal of" at the top and "Washington State" at the bottom. But I actually need two separate sets of text, because I don't want "Washington State" to be upside down.

I have a variable number of text lines I would like to arrange along the path of half a circle. I would like the text to look like each text-string is radiating from the circle (the path I have as half a circle).
I would like to do this in adobe illustrator
I would like the text to be evenly spaced along the path dependent on how many lines of text I have.
I have seen other discussions suggesting either the blend-tool or the brush-tool. But no luck. The blend-tool would make distorted shapes in between, and would twist and distort the text. The brush tool would make each text a little bit 'cone-shaped', and I would prefer having the text without such a 'cone-shape'.
I am attaching a picture that halfway shows my intentions. In this diagram I have started rotating the first 4-5 text-lines. I have more text-strings (just above the half-circle) that I also would like to include along the path the half-circle is indicating.
The final goal is to get each of these locality-names raditing from the tips in the little red tree.
Is it possible in illustrator to align the text along a path like this? It is almost similar to the normal align objects and distribute objects.
I am working on a Mac OSX 10.5 Adobe Illustrator CS3.

Like in a Circle I need to make the compound path the inner area or negative space of my objects. I have expanded letters and joined their paths so that there are negative space, I was wondering if it were possible to fill in the negative space with a clipping mask? (like one would with an object like a circle or rectangle) The letter that I am using is an A and I have connected two A's together like a diamond reflecting each other... Is it possible to create a clipping mask to cover the negative space of the inside of the letters...?

I am trying to animate a car to follow a circular path thus performing a burnout.
The problem that I'm having is:
1) when I push the car along the "Y axis" it's good up until the very end of the bend (after the first quarter of the first circle), then it just stops. and when I use the green, blue, red gizmo to get it around the bend, it pretty much skips to the overlapping path so it doesn't actually drive along the path.
2) I can make the back tyres rotate faster than the front tyres, however I'd like to keyframe the tyre rotation so it looks like a proper acceleration and burnout. How do I achieve this? The tyres rotation parameters' are wired up to the percentage of the path constraint of the position of the car rig (which is linked up to follow the path). So if it's possible I'd like to pretty much keyframe in different amounts of rotation ratio with some biezer effect so that the tyres can look like it accelerates into the burnout and then as it comes out of the burnout it gains grip again and goes back to having the same rotation speed as the front tyres. (once I learn how to achieve this to the front tyres then I could essentially apply the same effect to the front ones to make the animation look more realistic.
