CorelCAD :: LOFT Command Fails With 3D Polyline Objects

Jan 10, 2013

There is a major bug with CorelCAD LOFT command - when used with 3D polyline objects, it fails and errors out with the following error:

Specify cross-sections in lofting order»1 found, 2 totalSpecify cross-sections in lofting order»Selected cross-section is not a valid type.

The workaround is to set the CCS to the plane of the 3D polyline object and then use 2D polylines to recreate it, move the 2D version, delete the 3D version, Align the 2D version with where the 3D version came from and then repeat the LOFT command.

Has been logged with Graebert under ticket: #12458

To repeat the error, see the test file. There are two radially aligned triangles in each set. The set on the left are 3D polyline. The set on the right are 2D polyline.  Attempting to loft the set on the left will cause the error.

Both large and small triangles are respectively co-planar.

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Circular Hollow Sections - Thickness Constraints

Aug 22, 2013

I am trying to make a Dynamic block for Circular Hollow Sections. So i have a block properties table with 3 columns.

SIze (description)   |   Outer Diameter  |   Thickness

i can add a diameter constraint to the OD no problem but how can i add a thickness constraint? i cant pick say a linear or horiz between the quadrants of each circle it does not let you.

Now clearly i could convert all my tabular data to Inner Diameter instead of Thickness but i was looking to see if there is a way i can do it like described?

Also - i think i could also do this with an equation in Parameters Manager but for some reason that does not open, every time i click it the dialog does not display nor does it show anything at command line, i know this means its maybe corrupt but i can afford the time to reinstall just now.

AutoCad 3D :: Can't Perform The Loft Operation On A Path

May 9, 2012

I am a newbie just start learning how to use AutoCAD in both 2D and 3D.

I have drawn a 3D polyline, and putting two circles with different diameters on both end, trying to loft it and create a horn-shaped like object.

For some reason, AutoCAD keeps complaining the path I selected is not valid, and so I can't do the loft operation. However, I have 'tested' the path with sweep function, and it works.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Loft Command Not Working For A Cut

Oct 8, 2012

I am following the U-Tube exercise called "Emergency Light (Cabinet) volume 1". I am at time stamp 1 hour 26 minutes, exactly.

In the video they use a Loft command in order to cut a shape out of two sketches numbered 10 & 11. I have been copying exactly and am having difficulty at this stage of the model.

Is there any reason why I am managing to use the Loft command earlier perfectly but not at this point.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Loft Triangle Around Path Of Helix?

I am trying to loft a triangle around the path of a helix. I want the top point of the triangle to be facing in such that the ouside surface is flat (in the veritcal direction) for the entire helix and I have the two triangle cross sections oriented to do as much.  Whenever I try loft it, autocad associates sides of the triangle that aren't supposed to connect causing the triangle to twist along the path.  Is there a way that I can easily tell autocad which sides I want to connect?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Display 3D Polyline In Cross Sections

Nov 21, 2013

I am working on a project which has numerous existing conduits laid out on the site.  The location of the services has be picked up by a surveyor on the surface at numerous location and provided as a 2D polyline.  The lines are quite long with a large number of nodes.

I wanted to represent the conduits as say a 100mm pipe and locate it about 0.6m below the surface to get an idea of how it impacts my works.

I tried converting it to a network fails as there is >70 nodes.  I really only need to see the conduit on the cross section as I will definately avoid it.

Is there a way to display 3D polylines in cross sections?

AutoCAD 2013 :: Turning Bunch Of Points Into Solid Object - Loft Command

Mar 16, 2013

I have a bunch of points that I am trying to turn into a solid object. I am doing this by using the 3D poly command and then LOFT, UNION and CONVTOSOLID. this has previously worked well, but this time when I use the LOFT command it does not produce a 'closed' surface, but rather a grid like surface which wont convert to a solid. Are there different settings for the LOFT command, and if so, How do I change them to produce a closed surface?

3ds Max Modeling :: Loft Command Aligning

Jan 31, 2011

I am trying to loft 4 circles onto a straight path it seems as if they are turning somewhere in the middle, and the shape ends up looking like several 8:s stacked on top of each other instead of the cone-like shape I'm after.

I've tried aligning the first vertices with the "make first" command, but it didn't work. If I go to subobject level of the lofted object and choose Shape > Compare (as I read in some thread I should..), the pop-up window shows nothing (blank, with the pointer in the middle, doesn't matter how much I zoom).

3ds Max Modeling :: Changing Loft Profile Part Way Along The Path?

May 23, 2012

I'm building a test track to use on a driving simulator.I'm trying to apply banking to the corners. The track's path is a loft with it's path defined as a line, and the loft shape is a rectangle to represent the cross section of the track. I'm trying to apply banking to the corner by using a different shape part way along the loft... however, the result is that the track twists the wrong way so that the top of the track becomes the side and vice versa.

3ds Max Modeling :: Loft Command Reports Invalid Shape?

Jan 31, 2011

I am having multiple problems creating a loft. Firstly, it seems as if the "loft" command remembers and uses history of the objects to be lofted, which in my case meant that instead of lofting the scaled down (correct) version of a shape, it insisted on lofting the former, out-of-scale version. It would be great to know if there's a more conveniant workaround to this than redrawing the shapes (as I ended up doing).

Secondly - and this is where I'm stuck now - 3ds will not let me do a loft with the new, redrawn shapes. The loft accepts two of the shapes, but will not let me select the remaining three, claiming that "the shape has a different number of curves than others in the Loft". My question is thus: What should I do to be able to see and edit the number of curves in the shape, so that my Loft will be valid?

3ds Max Modeling :: Acad Loft Command To Model Veins

Jan 7, 2011

I'm going to be creating a 3d visualization for an existing network of gold mining tunnels and ore veins. What I have are scans of 2d hand drawn pages showing mining tunnels and ore veins. There are a couple hundred of these, each representing a 100' thick slice which get progreessively deeper. My intent is to trace these in autocad and stack them up, create solids, import them into 3ds max. One issue is that the ore veins are in some cases continuous from level to level so I'm thinking of using polylines and the loft command to connect the veins between levels.

how to model this efficiently so the import into 3ds max goes smoothly. Or is there an easier way than the acad loft command to model the veins within 3DSMax?

Illustrator :: Distribute Text Evenly Along Circular Path

Oct 14, 2012

I am fairly new to Illustrator, currently working on a project involving circular return address lables.  On the labels, the address text follows a circular path with bullets between the name, street, and city/state/zip. Now that I've entered all of the text onto the curved path, how do I distribute it evenly along that path?  In other words, how do I ensure that the same amount of space exists at the beginning and end of my line of text?  Right now, there is "leftover" space at the end of the address.

3ds Max Animation :: Animate Car To Follow Circular Path Performing Burnout

Oct 26, 2012

I am trying to animate a car to follow a circular path thus performing a burnout.

The problem that I'm having is:

1) when I push the car along the "Y axis" it's good up until the very end of the bend (after the first quarter of the first circle), then it just stops. and when I use the green, blue, red gizmo to get it around the bend, it pretty much skips to the overlapping path so it doesn't actually drive along the path.

2) I can make the back tyres rotate faster than the front tyres, however I'd like to keyframe the tyre rotation so it looks like a proper acceleration and burnout. How do I achieve this? The tyres rotation parameters' are wired up to the percentage of the path constraint of the position of the car rig (which is linked up to follow the path). So if it's possible I'd like to pretty much keyframe in different amounts of rotation ratio with some biezer effect so that the tyres can look like it accelerates into the burnout and then as it comes out of the burnout it gains grip again and goes back to having the same rotation speed as the front tyres. (once I learn how to achieve this to the front tyres then I could essentially apply the same effect to the front ones to make the animation look more realistic.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Customize Sub Command Shortcut Polyline?

Jun 14, 2012

I want to know how to change subcommand shortcut

When I do a Polyline, after i done an arc section, I would like to be able to press "F" instead of "L" to do a line section...

Is there an easy way to do that or do I have to reprogram a new Polyline command in lisp with the subcommand shortcut that I would like? (would prefer to avoid it as sometime I have to work on LT)

The reason behind all of this is that I remapped all my command to keys that are on the left side of the keyboard ... it work really well and I almost never have to lift my left hand except for the case with the polyline... the L key is miles away ..

Right now I remapped a button on my mouse to "L" but its not as natural as just using the keyboard.
