So, I have designed a logo for a web site and the site owner wants it for a business card and letterhead. Saving an image for web is easy and I understand all that but how do I prepare a file for a printer? I'm guessing this is just nipping in to the local print shop on the high street.

I have images from old photographs and drawings that I want to enlarge to A3 sent files to printers and they are only 150dpi Printer ran off 13 proofs (out of 125) for me only 6 of a quality I can just about get away with using...Is there anyway I can increase DPI on images to achieve 300dpi to give me a clear print
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to extend the edges of a number of images to give myself extra bleed room for print. The images have bits that are a little too near the edge and I need more room. The effect I'm looking for is repeating the final edge row of pixels for 1/8 of an inch beyond the original image on all side.

The obvious solution, manually repeating the row of pixels is too time consuming for the number of images I need to format.

The solution would have been simple if the imbeciles at adobe hadn't moved the "extend edges" option to the Oh-So-Useful auto lens correction tab in the lens correction filter. (how I HATE thee, Adobe)... Alas, I'm using CS5 and need an alternative solution.

I tried this method on my newest image I made a couple days ago...and this is the result. (In Order Before and After.)
I was trying to resize some images to 1080 x 1920 (tiff) using Image Processor but the resulting images came out as 1080 x 1620 and the filesize appears to have remained unchanged. Similarly, another time 720 x 576 came out as 720 x 540.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've set out to give this logo some 3D elements for some pop. I don't want to just extrude the thing as if it was a cylinder, I want to extrue the Triniti symbol, circles, as well as the black and green quadrants in some way. Not exactly sure, but I'll figure that out later. Afterwards I will possibly be dropping the logo into Aftereffects and making some kind of animated 3D intro with it. Here is the logo:
So I took a png of the logo, auto traced the image in illustrator, and used the 3D extrude effect. This was the result:

Obviously not what I'm looking for. Even if I only extruded parts of the logo, the behavior of the 3D effect would never give me what I'm looking for. Looking at tutorials, the extude effect seems to only be good for text and non layered shapes.

What I'm trying to accomplish is something that I could see working just fine in some kind of CAD software like Solidworks. I would just select the features I want, and extrude them as I desired. I do have access that piece of software, but I feel like that is a wierd work around, and I would have problems when it came time to apply the proper colors, and when I would bring the logo back into after effects for animation.

I also tried dropping the logo into After Effects directly and did the whole "convert shapes from vector layer" and using ray tracing tried extruding it there, but I can only extrude the entire logo, not individual parts.

Therefor I need to import all of the images together into Illustrator and give them a stroke. The only problem is that when I import the images all of them get created into one object with a white background, and when I apply a stroke, it applies it to the rectangle surrounding all the objects. The Illustrator artboard is 960 pixels wide and the layout fits the artboard. Similarly, the site width in Muse is 960px wide.The measuring units are in pixels in Illustrator, but something very strange is going on.in the Info panel, a grouped object - a logo - is described as 16383 pixels wide and 211px high.

It's simply not possible, not least because the logo is taller than it is wide. But when I measure it with the ruler tool, it tells me that the logo is 136px high and 122px wide.

The problem only applies to this grouped object and it's not because it's grouped with some other thing that is 16383 pixels wide - the bounding box fits precisely round the logo when it is selected.
Im ok with Illustrator but not brilliant. What Im looking for is a Graphic Style that I can just add/load into my CS5 version of Illustrator that when I select it will give me a vector drop shadow under text

Realise there are easier ways to make drop shadows but I need the drop shadow to be scaleable up to large sizes in a vector format as well as the text

I have a photo which was originally approx 150mm x 90mm
I had to resize this to nearly half its original size and it looked decent. I then saved the image as a tiff and placed it in illustrator. It still looked decent in Illustrator until i printed. when it was printed it turned out a little pixelated.
Why is it that when resizing (shorter than original) images pixelate and how can i eliminate this. Also what can i do so to avoid the problem when printing in illustrator.
I mean I always replicate most artwork via vectors in illustrator but photos as you all know can only be transferred across
I'm on a Mac working in Illustrator CS6. I went to print out of the print dialog box and after I printed, I noticed that the margins are larger on one side that the other. I re-opened the print dialog box and double clicked in the area that shows the artwork prior to print, to re center the artwork in the window, and noticed that there two dotted lines in thw window. One being the artwork, and the other is the image printable area.
Well when I double clicked on the dialog box to re-center the artwork in the prinatble area, the art works centers, but the printer image area is offset, or nudged upward. When I print the margins are larger on one side and not centered. Heres the million dollar question,"How do I re-center the image area for printing so when I print, the artwork is centered?" I'm not printing boarderless. I will try to include a pic if needed.
In the past, I've encountered the transparency issue where I've gotten the "ghosting" or discolored box around images when printing from PDFs created in Illustrator. I've always solved the issue by checking the option "print as image" in Acrobat. I noticed, however, that the colors are much less vibrant and almost "muddy" when this option is checked.

I am trying to create a graphic style that will give me a frame that has the 3d rounded effect. Bevel and Extrude isn't what I am looking for... I have a pic here with a bevelled edge effect, but it has a flat surface...and I want it to look round...

the image itself is a high resolution because it needs to be, so not surprisingly it keeps making illustrator crash. the print needs to happen, and it needs to become a swatch so I can apply it to tee shirts, hats etc. so far this has been completely impossible.
URL....I have a green vector background in illustrator and then I placed psd image over it and created PDF for press and under Color bitmap images I selected no compression.After viewing image in Acrobat all seems ok, I even checked with picker, but after I send this to printer (xerox in thsi case) I end up with this: Both .psd and .ai are in CMYK color space. For this particular case I could use mask to cover up that transparent space but my original project has shadows which I cannot mask by vector :S.

how to set color profiles or whatever is neccessary to avoid this issue. One thing I was using was, opening PDF in Photoshop and flatening all. Problem is that sometimes I need vector files and cut lines for cutter. Don't want to have bitmap, if I can have a vector? Also when I flaten image I do get same CMYK values in photoshop (with picker) than I have in Illustrator on vector object, but when I print this they don't match at all.
My company is exporting Postcards in Illustrator CS6. What we do is have a large data set imported into the Variables applet and use the Actions applet to record and export action and play it through the whole data set. We later combine the PDF files and print them as a batch.

My question is: Is there a way to create an action that will automatically print the data set while avoiding the print dialog box? It will make the process simple and move faster.

How do people create a catalog with over 60 pages and keep the file size low?
Was printing 4x6" from LR 5.3 fine. To an Epson 3880. Then went to Page Settings (MAC) changed paper size to 8.5x11". The preview responded with a larger page. I scaled the image up to 8x10 via lightroom cell size. But when I printed to the Letter size paper, LR printed only a close to 4x6" top left corner. This was not a full image like the 4x6. It was just a corner.

I have a Samsung Laser printer. THe passive USB hub went bad yesterday, and I re-installed teh printer drivers. Everything prints fine from my on-line E-mail, Microsoft Word, etc. However, when I attempt to print from Adobe Illustrator I get a "Print to file" WINDOW that comes up, I never got this before I don't want to print to file (!!!!). I want to print to the printer.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI use the histogram feature in PS to figure out how many square feet of yarn I will use in a rug that I am making (I work as a rug designer). I am running into a problem with this which is scary because my numbers have to be accurate.

As an example, I may have a 9x12 (inch--this is later blown up to feet using a transparency) drawing. In the drawing there may be 45 organic looking shapes that will be green. I use the magic wand tool and choose all of these green shapes. What I am noticing is that once I get to a certain number (not always consistent) in the histogram reading it will all of a sudden change to a different number and go to (for example) Cache 3. Because of this I have no idea if my histogram reading is accurate.

Is this some sort of memory issue? How do I prevent this from happening so that I can get an accurate heading?
I am trying to learn what has been done to the top photo to give the look of the bottom photo.Black suit looks navy, but not too much of the original photo is different. White seems brighter and blue seems bluer.
I tried using colour match in photoshop but it didn't look the same.
Can we interrupt actions in between and give input??
View 5 Replies View RelatedI shot a photo yesterday which has a reddish tint to it. This “warm glow” is very important to the image and I put a lot of work into getting it right. The image was shot as a DNG and manipulate in Photoshop, I saved it as a .psd for further manipulation or correction.
Now that I got it right I lowered the bits from 16 to 8 and saved the .psd as a .jpg and it looks great in photoshop, can’t see the difference on my humble monitor. But when I open the same jpg file in another viewer like irfanview, that warm reddish glow is gone and there is slightly green cast over the picture which is totally wrong.
I tried it including the ICC and without, with save for web and save as jpg, always the same greenish tint which I don't see in photoshop.
How do I get a jpg with the same colors? I want to offer it as a print on redbubble.com, so I need a high quality JPEG with the right colors.
