Illustrator :: Creating Gradient With Own Color
Sep 3, 2013how do I create a gradient using my own colors? I've recently upgraded form CS3 where I was able to just drag a colour swatch onto the gradient slider to set the colour. Now I can't do that. If I try with one of the default colors it works no problem but if I create my own swatch then I get a circle with a line through it saying I can't do it.

Feb 24, 2012I've been looking for scripts online that would create a color swatch legend to list the colors used in my illustrator file. I found this (see below) and tweaked it to place properly on my particular page, but it adds everything in my swatches panel to the legend. Ideally, I'm looking for a piece of script to add that would only add used swatches to the legend, or a script that would only add spot colors to the legend.

Photoshop :: Creating A Color Table For Print, Color Standards
Mar 20, 2007I was wondering what is the best way to save a photoshop file such as a business card or stationary labels so they "KEEP" their color you see on screen.
I am already building in CMYK mode. My Client has a nice gray scale scheme but I am worried that the print shop will mess up the colors.
How do I create a custom set of colors and adhere to that scheme throughout the clients stationary and media.
ie. Cards, Labels, Signs, etc.
Is there an option to print a color scale along with the image, sorta like when you calibrate your printer?
Photoshop :: Creating Color Fade
Jan 25, 2013I would like to take a photograph and apply whatever effects are necessary to have it appear to have full color in the center, fading to black and white at the edges (think gradient black to transparent, only I want the fade to be gradient color to B&W).
I'm having a difficult time wrapping my head around the best way to achieve this goal. I work with PS CS6 Extended (v 13.0.1 x32) on a Win XP sp3 platform.

Sep 8, 2012How to make a Spot Color Channel on Photoshop? I am using this image as an example. The blue color in the background needs to be printed mostly with a spot color that is close to the original painting color (ex: Pantone Blue 072C) . But the CMYK color still should be present in within the blues to resemble the subtle nuances of the brush strokes. I can’t figure it out on my own.

The reason I am doing this is because the artist’s works were represented on many publications over the years from many different countries. And we found out that CMYK color alone cannot duplicate the blue color very well (I mean the blue only, no problem with other colors). I know, it is hard to believe, but if you see all the publications and compare it to the original art, you would see the huge difference in color saturation and luminosity. That is the reason, I think it is necessary to use a spot blue for an upcoming catalog of the artist.
Photoshop :: Creating Text - Cannot Seem To Get Any Color But Black
Dec 23, 2012When creating text, can not seem to get any color but black. Grab text with text tool, chose a new foreground color, foreground color will change, text color in options bar will change, but text stays black.
If trying to gradiate the text. Again, I choose a color, pick the gradient tool, set the type of gradient, all looks good, new color with white background, but still it comes out as new color and black. Have try making the foreground white with new background color, but still only get black.
CorelDRAW X6 :: Creating Custom Color Palette
Apr 24, 2013I am having trouble creating a custom palette in Draw X6. I am trying to import (or create) a palette of a range of threads I use. There are around 300 swatches to create. I had this palette in Illustrator that I created from a CSV file using a script. It is in RGB colors. I need to have the swatch and thread number in the palette.
First, is there a way to convert a csv/xls/txt file into an palette xml file to make the palette automatically as I did in Illustrator?
Second, doing it manually is giving me trouble. I am following the below directions from the manual:
To create a custom color palette from scratch
1. Click Window Dockers Color palette manager.
2. Click the Creates a new empty color palette button.
3. Type a file name in the File name box.
4. Click Save.
5. In the Color palette manager, choose the custom palette that you created.
6. Click the Opens the Palette editor button.
7. In the Palette editor dialog box, click Add color.
8. In the Select color dialog box, choose a color, and click Add to palette.
I've gotten to Step 7, but there's where everything goes badly, When I add a color, the Select Color box comes up, and I choose the Models tab and choose an RGB. All my thread colors are in RGB. I can then input the RGB values in the cvs table, however, when I try to name the color with the thread color number (say "2005 - Petal Yellow"), it changes the RGB values to something else and changes the color in the preview box. It's like there is no way to give the color my own custom name. If I just bypass the naming and try to Add To Palette, it either tells me the color is already in the palette or I can't add any more because I've reached the maximum allowable entries....in a blank new palette file? Any color I choose from any of the pickers, or anything I enter in the value boxes just ends up with an error message.
I've checked the xml file of the new, supposedly blank, palette, and there are no colors or code, so what am I missing? Why can't I just input the color RGB values, name it, and add it? I can use the color picker to add colors to the palette, and after saving, that does show up in the xml file, but I don't have a document of color swatches, only a CSV. There's got to be a better way then making all the swatches in Draw, and also using the color picker on each one to make the palette.

Sep 3, 2013I'm trying to create a test font where the font changes to an opposite color than the stripe running 'through' it. Problem is I don't know if there is a specific name for this style, so all my searches have failed. I have attached a sample image and will explain.
The image has a phone cover with alternating red/blue stripes. There is a white cursive script font running vertical but the script is white. What I would like to try and do is make the script red where the stripe is blue and blue where the stripe is red. In effect, the font become a negative of the color it touches.

Illustrator :: Spot Color Swatches In AICS6 And AICC Do Not Match Color In Design
Feb 24, 2014Some of the lighter, saturated colors in the PANTONE+ swatches library appear to be a different color in the swatch list than they are when applied to a design. see below for screen shots.
i can duplicate this situation on calibrated NEC MultiSync monitors and uncalibrated laptops. We are running on Mac OS X.8x and above.
Designers are complaining about not being able to pick a color from the Swatch Library in AICS6 or AICC. InDesignCC does not seem to have the same issue.

Jan 6, 2013I have a question regarding illustrator. Let's say I have a circle with blue fill and red stroke. And I place an image in the illustrator file. Now I want to change the red stroke of my circle to let's say a purple color by sampling the color from the image.
How can I achieve that with a eye dropper tool? Every time when I try to sample a color from the image, the whole circle will change to purple instead of just the stroke? I have tried multiple key combination, shift, alt, ctrl but they all don't work.

Apr 7, 2011I want to create and name my own colors. To start with, I put the default RGB palette into "show color names" mode, and I then intend to add to the palette colors which I have named for my own purposes, and then delete the colors I dont need.
I have put the palette so it floats, which is more convenient for me, and I want to extend the palette down so that I can see most of the color names immediately, for example this is easy to do in CorelPainter.
I find that I cant extend the floating palette window beyond the default size, even though, when I select the window, arrows appear at the edges and corners of the palette, as if it is possible to move them. I find that the whole desktop turns grey, and a sort of secondary palette window appears momentarily and flutters on and off.

Jun 6, 2005I create or load an image it is always darker than it is actually supposed to be. When I go to save a created image, it will always be lighter. What I want to know is how to make the image on the screen the same color as when I save it to my computer.
Example: I was following a tutorial to create a banner and when I finished (without saving) it turned out like this. Now, the image from the tutorial is actually suppose to look like this when finished. Then, after I saved the image it looked like how it was suppose to look.

I loaded it into to gimp to have a closer look, and all the artist has done really has used lots of different greens, usually a different color on each pixel. How do you think this person went about creating the grass? Do you they colored each pixel individually then saw what they had done and adjusted it until they got it right. Which would probably take a really long time. Or do you think there is a quicker way?
