I'm trying to make a circle with the radius of 200*sqrt(3). Is this even possible? Or will illustrator round the equation to the thousandths? If illustrator will just round the equation to the thousandths, I can enter the number myself, but I was hoping it could find the point.
View 10 RepliesI'm trying to plan an access road which must run at least 2.5m away from an existing fenceline. I've put a few parallel road lines in at 3m distance, but at the fence bends I decided to put some circles at the bend points to give me a 3m radius. When I did this I was suprised to find that the circle extends further than my access road. I've dimensioned them both up, CAD is telling me they're both 3m away but they're clearly not at the same distance.

If I draw an arc using the "Angle" rather than length or radius, entering the angle as 11.1601, then label the arc, the delta angle is converted to hms or 11.0936 . The template and labeling style are ones we've used for several releases. I've compared the feature settings, units and the curve labeling command and can not find where this is being changed.

How is it possible ? C3D can detect the type of geometry poinr, so it would must to know R, Lenght,. A, etc....
In addition I 'd like to do it using the aligment label set.... sci-fi , isn't it ?
When you have to create plans, the aligments need to show a lot of information. Doing it manually is so boring..... (and in XXI century ...... )

I am trying to create a blend radius between a Line and a Circle, the Blend command does not accept the circle as a valid object.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI need my users to pick a point p, enter a distance r and a direction v. A new point should be created r units away in vectorial direction. Therefore, the new point is located on an imaginary circle with radius r and center p.
Currently, the user picks the first point and enters a distance. Then, he has to pick another point (Editor.GetPoint with UseBasePoint = true), I calculate the vector between both points, create a new point (with location = BasePoint.location) and translate it d units in vectorial direction. This works of course, but the problem is, that the user doesn't see directly, where his new point is located, since he may pick a point closer to or farther away then r units.
Naively spoken, I want to restrict the line between BasePoint and new point while prompting the user to a fixed length. Native calls to ObjectARX-methods would be also okay.
Octagon inside a circle... The circle cannot be dimensioned off the octagon?
I need it to have, say .25" clearance and I mean I can just make the circle the right size... but Inventor/I really should be able to do something this simple...
A circle inside a circle, same center point, you can click both and get the distance between the two?
(R-click and set circle to Radius does nothing, it still wants to dimension it from the center point)
Is there any way to quickly measure the perimeter of a part, and also measure the length of any circles?
Our estimator is taking the drawings supplied from the customers and needs to quickly know what the cut length is around the part, and then also know the cut length of all holes or internal openings.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI made a circle. Moved it up about 300px then used the rotation tool to > move the center point to intersect with the art board's center point > alt clicked and set a 45* rotation. Then duplicated around.
I moved to AE and created a simple rotation animation. However, I need to exspand the the radius of those objects or create more space between them.
Is this possible without rebuilding it from scratch in Ai CS5? Is there a way of exspanding the radius in Ai?
I want to change the radius using (Right Arrow) but now it's only letting me choose to 1 radius and nothing in between.

I'd like to make the line a MINIMUM length of X" (I haven't decided how long yet--but know I'll need a minimum). But then after the user fills in the attribute, I'd like the length of the line to change to the length of the attribute plus a small amount (again, I haven't decided yet how much extra).
I was wondering if there is a way with DB's to have a line "follow" or "grow" with the content/value length of an attribute. Maybe some method of linking the attribute width to length of the line? Essentially, it would work just like turning on the underline setting when typing in mtext editor (or any program with an underline option for that matter), expect that the line could be placed anywhere, and would not have to reside directly below the text.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a fuculty member that is prepping a document in illustrator. The image is a ruler. On the screen the paths show up as 48 inches long with 48 1 inch lines 1 inch apart. each line / path length in the w-vlaue in the inspection bar showing the correct lengths. the main backbone of the ruler is a black box that is 48" long.
When we print this at 720dpi on an Epson 9900 the Ruler prints at just under 49" we did another test with just 4pt think lines.
5 inch prints at 5.1" 10 inches just over 10" 24 inches print at 24 1/2 "
on and on. so why the values in the w-value are different when printing?
I was able to check this agains my HP laserjet in my office, and again, line lenghts versus the w-value are not the same.
I'm working in laser cut and very often I need to know how long is the path I'm going to cut with my laser machine. It is very useful to know the length (and the area) of each path while you're designingin Illustrator. I know you can already measure lines or whole objetcs, what I mean is to know the exact path lenght of the lines included in a logo, for exemple, or in a complex drawing.
How I could get this informations in Illustrator CS6?
How can I select a path by it's legnth? I am trying to clean up a photo I traced/converted to paths in AI5 or 6.

If you can see it, towards the left side of the circle where it says "path" in green. Thats where I clicked, but as you can see the actual text would start a little further on the right side
How can I change this...Also I will add. Once I do type my text it is no longer selectable. After typing I switch up to my direct select tool, and as I hover over the text nothing happens. I cant select it, I can only select the blue bars on the sides of it. I want to be able to select my text also. Shouldnt the blue bars be at the end and the beginning of the text, not so far away from it
