How can I make the second shape like the one with circles.I tried to use 2 shapes with different scales but it doesn`t fit perfectly.I need a constant distance between shapes.

I would like to use a vector object made in AI as a custom shape to be used as a cookie cutter in elements.. I imported the AI file in photoshop but the "define custom shape" entry under "edit" was grayed out.

The command function is basically to allow me type the value of the scale and based on that, adjust the properties of the scale. (Name appearing in scale list - Paper Milimeters - Drawing Meters)

I cannot remember what this is called, or where to find it in the menus. It doesn't have the word "duplicate" in it, but it should! You select an object and then go to a dialog box and set up how many times you want to duplicate it vertically or horizontally, and how far apart.
I will certainly write this command down when the answer comes through, but I can tell you it needs a name that sounds like what it is!
Is there an easy way to measure the distance between shapes, lines, type, etc. in CS6? I could use the artboard ruler, though I'm looking for a quick way to give me a precise measurement?

I've tinkered with a script I found for measuring the length and width of a selected object and placing those values in a specs portion of the file. It works great, I'm very excited about how much better my life could be if I conquered scripting, and now I'm struggiling to get another one working but I'm a little stuck.
What I need to do now is measure and print the distance from the right edge of a selected object to the left edge of another object named "repeat" in a designated "specs" area of the page. The idea is to show the distance between a print impression and when it will print again (repeat), because it is printed using a print cylinder that rotates to print over and over on a continuous film.
I'm a little fuzzy on how I call the value of the left side x value of an object, but basically what I want is to use that value and then subtract from it the width of the selected object. The difference is the distance between impressions.
I'm trying to move an object a certain distance at a certain angle. I select the object and hit Enter to bring up the Move dialog. I enter the angle and distance, and instead of moving the specified distance, it moves some other distance. I don't get it. Am I doing it wrong? I can't imagine how else it's supposed to work. Here's a simple example:
Based on the angle and distance I entered in the video, the duplicate square should have been placed so that its lower right corner touches the upper left corner of the original. Instead, it only moved half an inch or so.
I have a circular path where I've got 5 words of text that I need to have equal distance between each word.
What I've done is create 5 text paths overlaying each other so I can move the text around the path but is there any quick way to creat equal gaps?
Illustrator CS6, menu object, transform, move: when I move an object using orizzontal value and vertical value (example 10 mm from X and 10 mm from Y) the value in distance and angle is correct (14,1421 of distance and -45° angle) but, when I want to use distance and the angle for drawing in isometric way (example: 10 mm distance and 30° angle) the orizzontal and vertical value is not correct as you can see in the attached file below

When I select an object and open the Move window (either by pressing the Enter key or selecting Object>Transform>Move), I try and move the object at a given angle and a given distance. I leave the Horizontal & Vertical dialogs blank and just fill in the information for the Distance and Angle. When I press OK (or Copy), nothing happens. In all previous versions of Illustrator, this feature worked perfectly. I can not get it to work in CS6.

I've gone to Preferences>General>Keyboard Increment and changed the amount, but the line moves the same distance no matter what I put in. Neither Snap to Grid nor Snap to Point are turned on.

The problem is when you have irregular shapes, (or in this case, an oval). I know I've seen solutions to this in the past, but I just can't think of how to word this question and find them again.
I know you can create multiple strokes for an object in the appearance palette, but I'm looking for something more effective than just having colored stroke > white stroke > colored stroke> white stroke > etc.
Here's a couple examples of the kind of effect I'm looking for.

My distance is not horz., so I want to enter the Vertial angle and the slope-distance, in LLD the command was AD VD.

I am trying to paste 3 shapes from Illustrator into Photoshop. The shapes are layered; I need them to be separate layers in PS. I am copying the shapes from AI and pasting into PS as separate Shape layers. The problem is that when I paste the shape layers, the position in which they land on the canvas is not consistent... they don't line up properly. This means I will have to manual reposition the shapes in Photoshop?
(as a side note, I'm baffled that there is not way to export my AI document as a PSD, and retain the layers as vector shapes... exporting to PSD requires I rasterize the artwork. Has this been added to CS6?)

But I want to make a 5 petal flower and cannot figure out how to do that. let's say I have an elongated oval and I want to rotate 4 more copies at 72 degrees. And I want it to be "mathematically perfect / evenly spaced, using the black dot as the point of rotation. how would i do that? On the right - you can see what i am aiming for, but there's no way to be perfect doing it by hand.

The rectangle will not to the circle correctly or evenly. This has been happening too much recently and I move on and find a way around it. I've had enough though.
I've turned off and on Snap to point, Snap to grid, Smart guides. Everytime I drag the rectangles edges to the circles, they magically somehow snap back to the original spot or further than I wanted it.
Nothing fixes it. I'm extremely furious! Why is the edge of my circle able to be there but not the edge of the rectangle? I've even tried to increase and decrease the shapes. Still, nothing.
I'm new to illustrator and having trouble with changing the background color of the working board. I'd like to see how my very simple shapes look under dark conditions (black background).
So, while I was able to change the color of the background, my shapes, along with their fill colors, just disappeared. They're there, "behind" the background and I can't / don't know how to bring them to the front.
How can I accomplish such a simple task ?
I have 3 rectangles all stacked up. I just want to select the top 2, how can I do that?
In general, how do I select certain *multiple* shapes if they are all stacked? I know how to select them one by one.
Is there a way to darken the color of multiple shapes all at once? Eg, If I had a number of shapes all in different, pastelle colors and wanted to see how those shapes would look in more prominent, darker vertions of themselves, how would I do that?
E.g., turning the light purple of the shape below to the dark purple in the image.
