know if there is a tool like "Ofset" in AutoCAD for Adobe illustrator CS6? I need to repeat an object(let say a Rectangle) 100 times with a distance of 1 cm. I already find the "Transform Effect" function from Effect --> Distort & Transform but this function create a None- Editable copy of the selected object. What I need intact is a independent object which can be edited in future!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI cannot remember what this is called, or where to find it in the menus. It doesn't have the word "duplicate" in it, but it should! You select an object and then go to a dialog box and set up how many times you want to duplicate it vertically or horizontally, and how far apart.
I will certainly write this command down when the answer comes through, but I can tell you it needs a name that sounds like what it is!
Illustrator CS6, menu object, transform, move: when I move an object using orizzontal value and vertical value (example 10 mm from X and 10 mm from Y) the value in distance and angle is correct (14,1421 of distance and -45° angle) but, when I want to use distance and the angle for drawing in isometric way (example: 10 mm distance and 30° angle) the orizzontal and vertical value is not correct as you can see in the attached file below

When I select an object and open the Move window (either by pressing the Enter key or selecting Object>Transform>Move), I try and move the object at a given angle and a given distance. I leave the Horizontal & Vertical dialogs blank and just fill in the information for the Distance and Angle. When I press OK (or Copy), nothing happens. In all previous versions of Illustrator, this feature worked perfectly. I can not get it to work in CS6.

Why does illustrator do this and how can I avoid that illustrator adjusts my specific X / Y values?
I am trying to color a part of an object in specific form. (see the picture below) So, I have a restangular and a circle in different color. What I am trying to achieve is only the part of the circle that is over the restangular to be visible (example with photoshop- restangular on layer 1, circle on another layer above it, alt+click to create a clipping mask and it will produce the effect im looking for). However, when creating clipping mask here (from object-clipping mask-make) it seems that either the circle or the restangular will disappear. Are there other ways to achieve this, or I'm looking into the wrong one?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSince i updated PS (CS6) the last time it has this very strange behavior when i try to position a object via the Arrow Keys.When i hit a Button very fast (3 times) the object jumps back to its very first position where i started to move it.
When it is a new "feature" - where can i turn it off?
How do you draw parallel lines with a specific distance between them? I was gonna use this function for futuristic artwork. Do you have to use the grid for this or is there another way?

What I want to do is move a line on an angle a certain distance in the direction of the line itself in this case 20mm
What used to happen is you'd simply select move and an endpoint on the line then hover over the mid or opposite endpoint of the line and enter 20 and it would move 20mm along the trajectory of the line.
The same set of actions now only seem to allow you to move the entity 100mm (the default value) along itself in the correct direction. If you enter 20 it does not move and if you enter 50 it moves 100!
I am designing perfume bottles and for that i need to to repeat a semi circle to repeat over a curved surface fo the bottle. To simplify the problem i have created curved surface and made a semi cirle as a feature, now i want the feature to repeat on the curved surface. I have tried to rectangle pattern, aswell as the circular pattern in all possible ways i can think.
P.s. I have hp I7 processor, 8 gb ram, windows 7 and am using autodesk inventor pro 2013
I have double line pipe drawings but i have to change distances between of this lines in entire drawing and i was thinking that maybe there is a lisp code which can create new double line according to my specify dimensions ...
example :
Distance between lines : 100 mm

here is what i want to do :
1. select double line
2. specify new distance ( for example 200 mm)
3. lisp will create center line middle of the selected lines ( maybe it can ask me that this center line will be permanently or not )
4. lisp will create new double line from this centerline according to my specific distance
5. new double line layers will be the same with selected old double line
and this lisp has to work for double arc or quarter circles too.

The problem is this.
The object I'm copying will have varying distances between each copy e.g. , 50, 100, 90, 150, 140, 100, 190 so on and so forth.

Is there a key command to do what you just did? For instance, I build charts and sometimes I need to rotate every piece of the chart by 90 degrees... one piece at a time. Is there a key command that will just let me repeat this over and over? I'm using Illustrator CS6 on a Mac.
I don't want to rotate the whole chart, just pieces of it... that's why I don't just select all and rotate at once...
When selecting a tab in the tabpalette for "repeating" ("repeat tab" in submenu on the right of the palette) Illustrator (CS3) simply puts tabs all over the place (not repeating the original tab you selected - unlike INDESIGN which does it right!).

QUESTION: I have a circle. I want to make a copy of this circle for, say, 80 % of the original size. I'd like to repeat the duplication so the next copy have the same distance to the second circle as between the first two circles (in other word the percentage would change between tranformations) - and so on.
Hopefully there is some easy way to achieve this so I don't have to do it manually.
(Btw, I use CS5)

I often need to repeat an action, such as resize an object proportionally from center (using alt+shift) or rotating for example. I get same object resized or rotated in same place and maintaining it´s center.
But when i repeat the action with control or command D on second object, it does not respect it´s center, while it seems to do it from first object´s center, so it moves.
Is there a way to set the center point for repeat or duplicate?
I have an ellipse (blue shape in screen shot) 120mm tall / 135mm wide;
and then I have ELEVENT tabs (magenta in screen shot) that will be attached to this; these tabs need to step and repeat evenly around the ellipse.

I was given an image of a painting by my boss and told to isolate the figure, then use said figure in a standard step-repeat print.

the image itself is a high resolution because it needs to be, so not surprisingly it keeps making illustrator crash. the print needs to happen, and it needs to become a swatch so I can apply it to tee shirts, hats etc. so far this has been completely impossible.
I am trying to create seamless pattern repeats. Most of the time when I do this I get thin lines between the tiles (I place the original pattern and move>copy it to exact measurements). I have read in other forums that these are 'ghost' lines which don't appear when the design is printed out, but I've had fabric samples printed that do contain a line. Also sometimes the motifs on the edge of each tile don't match up - see the slight line down the orange / white cups here:
I move>copy the motifs using the exact measurements of the artboard, I line up my clipping mask with the artboard and they are exactly the same size, and they have no stroke width. I can't work out why it still does not work.
Even before I copy and tile the design I sometimes have a thin white line down one side - see below.
Having trouble with object snap tracking. At times i am given distances from other objects to work with- which is what i am after.
However in some instances only the model space coordinates are displayed- not distances. Is there any way to ensure that only distances appear?
When I want to move an object a certain distance from the original location, I go to long winded trouble of drawing a line and attaching it to say, for example, the centre of a circle. Then MOVE the circle, selecting the base line as the centre to the end of the LINE using OSNAP.
Is this how you Pro's do it, I'm guessing not.
