Illustrator :: Overlapping Pattern With Repeat

How would I be able to create an image like this where the highlighted section completes in sequence. i.e - the overlapping sequence stays correct?

I'm trying to make a repeat pattern tile (using CS5 on Windows 7), but when I crop the pattern, the expanded paths underneath become visible as on the flowers. This is what I did after creating the artwork:
Used the rectangle tool to make a box with fill/stroke directly on top of the artboard.. Select all > Expand (selecting stroke only, not fill) Deselect the cropping box and grouped the remaining objects. Reselected the cropping box and grouped all objects Pathfinder > Crop I'm guessing it may have something to do with the fact I used a gradient on the flowers but how to resolve it.
My image is overlapping artboard borders,is there any easy way to cut/trim all overlapping objects??

Also, I am wanting to print this design on fabric but the lab keeps saying that when they repeat the pattern, there is a white border that shows up around it. I've searched everywhere. View 6 Replies View Relateds there a way to make patterns (repeat symbol) along paths? Something like using Artistic Media > Brush, but I'd like it to repeat symbol. It's possible and simple in illustrator, but in work I have to use Corel Draw.I need to make something like that: [URL] ..... can't use line style, because the pattern is too complex. View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a key command to do what you just did? For instance, I build charts and sometimes I need to rotate every piece of the chart by 90 degrees... one piece at a time. Is there a key command that will just let me repeat this over and over? I'm using Illustrator CS6 on a Mac.
I don't want to rotate the whole chart, just pieces of it... that's why I don't just select all and rotate at once...
When selecting a tab in the tabpalette for "repeating" ("repeat tab" in submenu on the right of the palette) Illustrator (CS3) simply puts tabs all over the place (not repeating the original tab you selected - unlike INDESIGN which does it right!).

QUESTION: I have a circle. I want to make a copy of this circle for, say, 80 % of the original size. I'd like to repeat the duplication so the next copy have the same distance to the second circle as between the first two circles (in other word the percentage would change between tranformations) - and so on.
Hopefully there is some easy way to achieve this so I don't have to do it manually.
(Btw, I use CS5)
I can't find a way to do this
I often need to repeat an action, such as resize an object proportionally from center (using alt+shift) or rotating for example. I get same object resized or rotated in same place and maintaining it´s center.
But when i repeat the action with control or command D on second object, it does not respect it´s center, while it seems to do it from first object´s center, so it moves.
Is there a way to set the center point for repeat or duplicate?
I have an ellipse (blue shape in screen shot) 120mm tall / 135mm wide;
and then I have ELEVENT tabs (magenta in screen shot) that will be attached to this; these tabs need to step and repeat evenly around the ellipse.
how I could achieve this effect?
I was given an image of a painting by my boss and told to isolate the figure, then use said figure in a standard step-repeat print.
like that :
. . . .
. . .
. . . .
the image itself is a high resolution because it needs to be, so not surprisingly it keeps making illustrator crash. the print needs to happen, and it needs to become a swatch so I can apply it to tee shirts, hats etc. so far this has been completely impossible.
know if there is a tool like "Ofset" in AutoCAD for Adobe illustrator CS6? I need to repeat an object(let say a Rectangle) 100 times with a distance of 1 cm. I already find the "Transform Effect" function from Effect --> Distort & Transform but this function create a None- Editable copy of the selected object. What I need intact is a independent object which can be edited in future!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create seamless pattern repeats. Most of the time when I do this I get thin lines between the tiles (I place the original pattern and move>copy it to exact measurements). I have read in other forums that these are 'ghost' lines which don't appear when the design is printed out, but I've had fabric samples printed that do contain a line. Also sometimes the motifs on the edge of each tile don't match up - see the slight line down the orange / white cups here:
I move>copy the motifs using the exact measurements of the artboard, I line up my clipping mask with the artboard and they are exactly the same size, and they have no stroke width. I can't work out why it still does not work.
Even before I copy and tile the design I sometimes have a thin white line down one side - see below.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI played with the feature a bit and understand how to create the patterns. Problem is when I go to fill in my 12x12 space there are seams. I have chosen different sizes in the pattern window but all show up with seams when I fill the larger space. Am I doing something wrong or is the largest size you can create with this tool seamlessly only 9x9?
View 8 Replies View Relatedis it possible to have overlapping slices? For example, I typically start a web design in illustrator, then like export pieces to use in in my build. But, I tend to have a lot of overlaping pieces that need to be exported (full static background image for the webpage and banner overlap for example). I find myself, hiding pieces, drawing out a slice, export it, then go back, delete that slice, create another slice . . . as you can see, it gets pretty tedious. Everytime I try to overlap a slices, they just create new slices and I end up with a bunch of rectangle slices all over the artboard.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI love the new Pattern Maker in CS6, but I keep running into a problem:
When I create a pattern that is NOT tiled in Grid (i.e. Brick), it usually works without any problem. But once I save and re-open the file, opening the pattern in PM again will show this message:
A clipping mask was created around the pattern tile bounds to preserve legacy pattern appearance. For best results, release the clipping mask when changing the tile size or editing art that overlaps the tile edge. I would then find that, instead of a single motif layed out in a Brick tile, I would have one complete motif in the center and four quartered motifs on the corners of one clipping box. This is tiled in a Grid pattern to emulate a Brick appearance.
So long story short, what's supposed to be a Brick tile turns into a Grid tile that's faking a Brick tile.
Is there a way to keep the simple Brick tiles?

So I'm working with type, and I want to place a very thick outline around the type it's self.Creating a thick outline unfortuantely doesn't just work, as it aligns it over the text strokes themselves.
Corel has an option to place the outline behind the object (see below)...but alas, illustrator does not... they have the align outside option (far less effective).I want this style without having to duplicate the text, and placing one with an outline behind it:
So when I convert the text to outlines, and apply the outside aligned stroke I get an overlap from the other charactersis there a way to combine objects that aren't overlapping into a single object, so when I align the outline around the text I don't get the above problem, or is there a way to place an outline behind an object without duplicating the object and adding a thick outline?
