AutoCAD Inventor :: Repeat Semi Circle To Repeat Over Curved Surface For The Bottle
Feb 4, 2013I am designing perfume bottles and for that i need to to repeat a semi circle to repeat over a curved surface fo the bottle. To simplify the problem i have created curved surface and made a semi cirle as a feature, now i want the feature to repeat on the curved surface. I have tried to rectangle pattern, aswell as the circular pattern in all possible ways i can think.
P.s. I have hp I7 processor, 8 gb ram, windows 7 and am using autodesk inventor pro 2013

Aug 14, 2013Is there a key command to do what you just did? For instance, I build charts and sometimes I need to rotate every piece of the chart by 90 degrees... one piece at a time. Is there a key command that will just let me repeat this over and over? I'm using Illustrator CS6 on a Mac.
I don't want to rotate the whole chart, just pieces of it... that's why I don't just select all and rotate at once...

Jan 24, 2013I made an illustration to show what I need, I guess it's easier to understand than my explanation below...
QUESTION: I have a circle. I want to make a copy of this circle for, say, 80 % of the original size. I'd like to repeat the duplication so the next copy have the same distance to the second circle as between the first two circles (in other word the percentage would change between tranformations) - and so on.
Hopefully there is some easy way to achieve this so I don't have to do it manually.
(Btw, I use CS5)

I often need to repeat an action, such as resize an object proportionally from center (using alt+shift) or rotating for example. I get same object resized or rotated in same place and maintaining it´s center.
But when i repeat the action with control or command D on second object, it does not respect it´s center, while it seems to do it from first object´s center, so it moves.
Is there a way to set the center point for repeat or duplicate?

May 28, 2013I was given an image of a painting by my boss and told to isolate the figure, then use said figure in a standard step-repeat print.

the image itself is a high resolution because it needs to be, so not surprisingly it keeps making illustrator crash. the print needs to happen, and it needs to become a swatch so I can apply it to tee shirts, hats etc. so far this has been completely impossible.

Sep 5, 2012I am trying to create seamless pattern repeats. Most of the time when I do this I get thin lines between the tiles (I place the original pattern and move>copy it to exact measurements). I have read in other forums that these are 'ghost' lines which don't appear when the design is printed out, but I've had fabric samples printed that do contain a line. Also sometimes the motifs on the edge of each tile don't match up - see the slight line down the orange / white cups here:
I move>copy the motifs using the exact measurements of the artboard, I line up my clipping mask with the artboard and they are exactly the same size, and they have no stroke width. I can't work out why it still does not work.
Even before I copy and tile the design I sometimes have a thin white line down one side - see below.

Nov 30, 2012I'm trying to make a repeat pattern tile (using CS5 on Windows 7), but when I crop the pattern, the expanded paths underneath become visible as on the flowers.This is what I did after creating the artwork:
Used the rectangle tool to make a box with fill/stroke directly on top of the artboard.. Select all > Expand (selecting stroke only, not fill) Deselect the cropping box and grouped the remaining objects. Reselected the cropping box and grouped all objects Pathfinder > Crop I'm guessing it may have something to do with the fact I used a gradient on the flowers but how to resolve it.

Feb 27, 2014I am fairly new to Illustrator, although since I'm pretty good at Photoshop (I have used it exclusively for graphic design for 10 years) I have been picking up Illustrator fairly quickly. I created a design but would like to put a white stroke on everything so that it will look good on both dark and light colored shirts, but I can't figure out how to do this. It's SO simple in Photoshop, but I need the vector capabilities of Illustrator more and more these days so I really need to learn how in Illustrator.
All of my objects are in separate layers so I have tried to combine them and merge them to create a new stroke around them but all this does is group them and still create new strokes on each individual object. How do I literally MERGE them as they are (front object stays in front, back object stays in back, and they retain their coloring) so that I can put a white stroke around them?
Illustrator :: Making Changes To Design Files
Aug 28, 2013I'm having an issue with the save feature in Illustrator CS5.5 (15.1.0 for mac). Typically when making changes to design files, we will save the Illustrator file first, then save as a PDF proof to send to the client. Our issue is that the file appears to save correctly, but when opening the Illustrator document a few days later, we find that only SOME of the changes were saved. Now keep in mind that I've only saved the document once, why would only a few changes save from one single save point?
On top of this, our PDFs come out without any problems, and all changes save just fine.
This is a major issue for us, as we need to be able to trust that ALL previous changes save, as we use the Illustrator document to create subsequent versions. We don't have the time to check through every minute detail to make sure that the file saved properly. This should be a very basic function of the program, yet it is creating big time headaches for us.
Could it be that we are saving as PDF first, then as AI? Would that somehow affect the ability of Illustrator to save properly?

Then in Inventor I create a 2D sketch and click the ACAD button to import it. It works, but not in the way that I want. Only the outline shows up. Is there a way I can design it in illustrator.. save as an interactive pdf and then they can edit it with acrobat? I know with acrobat you can make edits to type but can you make edits to colors, photos, etc? Any other application that they would be able to use without having adobe?

Jun 9, 2013I worked on a design saving it about every 10 minites and also saving a copy every hour. Later, when I try to open any of the copies of this file, Illustrator gives me this error:
the file opens but most of the objects are gone. I managed to open the file with Adobe Accrobat and saved it as eps then open it in Illustrator but the paths are mess and all effects converted to embeded images.I also placed the file but if I try to edit the link it gives me the same error and when I embedded the link it was a little bit better but similar mess like the eps saved from Acrobat..I'm using Illustrator CS5 Design file Windows 7.
Illustrator :: CS4 Design Suite Not Working After OSX 10.7.5 Upgrade
Jun 7, 2013I recently upgraded my Mac OS to 10.7.5 from 10.7.4. I also upgraded Java from SE6 to 7. Now my cs4 design suite will not open. I click on the Illustrator alias but nothing happens. I get the Rainbow Pinwheel that spins for 2 seconds and then stops. This also happens when I try using Photoshop, InDesign, and Dreamweaver. I've also tried opening using the .app file in the applications folder, but the same thing happens.
A side note: I tried to revert back to Java 6 with no luck. and I do not have a back up of my OS to revert back to 10.7.4. Everything was working great prior to the upgrades.
