Why there is no option to see all image thumbnails when open photo like all other software ( hugin, luminance hdr etc) searching photos in gimp is slow and no i dont want use other software searching them it's should be normal like every one computer software

After getting the hang of that, I figured I could try the same thing with a different image. But instead of opening up both images in different colors, both show up as the color of the first image. Both images are png files, the same file format that I used the first set of images for. I have not changed the size nor made anything transparent.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a large single catalogue of photos. Some of the thumbnails in the library are now appearing greyed out. I think they were all there a few days ago, and since then the only things I have done are upload more images, cull those I did not want and backup the catalogue. I do not recall having this issue with LR3, and they all seemed OK when I upgraded to LR4. I have restarted LR several times, and it makes no difference. My Mac tells me all programs are up to date.

I'm working on a project modifying some existing poster art that already contains a font called Plaza Swash. The originator sent me the font for installation into my (Mac) system, which I did using Font Book. No problem there as Plaza Swash shows up in the list as being perfectly accessible. However, using the text tool in Gimp, this font does not appear in the list. It appears in every other program I have that can access fonts, I just cannot get it to appear in Gimp. I really need to use this font, too. As I said I'm modifying existing work and I need my work to match. This is not the first time I've installed new fonts, it's just the first time I cannot get one to work. It is a true type font and shouldn't present a problem.

View 1 Replies View RelatedToday I shot some more photos and was going to send them to a friend. After I resized them, I tried to save the new file as JPEG and there was no option to do so. I even opened one of yesterday's camera files and tried to save that as a JPEG, and still didn't see the option. All I get is something called .xcf.
I looked at the tutorial, and it said to make sure the mode was set to RGB. It was; I'd never changed this. It seems I've broken something, but I don't know where to look in order to fix it.
I have windows 7.I down loaded the exe pointed to on the main download page.When I ran this I had to decline about 6 offers to install crap on my computer, most annoying.Then it installed on C: without offering where I wanted it, which was D.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have recently installed Gimp 2.8.2, then reinstalled 2.8.4 because the Text Along Path option was missing from the Text Editor options. I was using this tool just fine in an older version so I knew the in's and out's of it then.
As you can see from the attachment, I believe I have all the necessary items in place. In other words, I have a path, which shows in the path dialog. I have text that was created after the path. In the picture, the Text Editor is currently selected while the path is showing in the dialog but the Text Along Path option is missing.
Is there an option to move just a portion of a layer (with the Move, Scale, or Rotate tools, for example) without having to first copy the portion, then delete it, and then paste it as a whole new layer?
For instance, if you have a picture of a house and there's a tree off to the side, and you want to shrink the tree a bit so the house looks bigger. Currently, I would ( a ) copy the tree, ( b ) delete that selection, and ( c ) paste the tree as a new layer....and then finally (d) shrink that.
But could I simply select the tree and shrink it on the same layer?
I now have xscanimage running from a command line. I added a soft link from .gimp-2.6/plug-ins/ to /usr/bin/xcanimage and restarted gimp. In File/ Create the option for xscanimage remains greyed out. What must I do to make it active?

View 3 Replies View RelatedThis is such a common task, there may be cause to have a Resize option bundled with the Export command. Having to always perform them as two separate steps is an annoyance, but the possibility of accidentally saving the wrong resolution back to the XCF file is a danger.
A question that asked late last year as I had a need to resize and keep working on original. That's when I found the save for web had been reinstated as 2.6.
Part of the motivation for the save/export distinction in the firstplace is later being able to introduce such improvements to exportworkflows (as well as other neat things; like being able to choosebetween export presets, multiple named regions - and more). Without aclear conceptual internal seperation - such future improvements willbe much harder.
I see the reverse layers option, I use that when I save and export it as a gif.
The gif becomes all grainy and white when it started out and you can see the layers from before still showing while the other layers are playing.
I have a problem docking the windows. The tool options window somehow detached itself and I just can't figure out how to dock it again.
There are a couple of very light colored lines which are used for docking. I don't see any lines on the "Tool Options" window or any other window for that matter.

When using the rotate option in transform tools a very annoying grid pops up. This has never occurred before. It appears to be useless as it rotates with the image. How can I remove it?
I'd like to outline some text, so I went to the Text tool, entered the words, highlighted them and then looked for the button that would let me create an outline path. It's not there. Plain and simple. There's an empty space between "language: English" and the tool pre-set buttons. I checked under the paths dialog, but the option isn't there, either.
I've never used the text menu before - actually, I've just never used GIMP before. Perhaps I'm missing something obvious? I read a couple of tutorials, but none of them said that you had to do anything other than highlight the text to make the "create path from text" option appear.
I'm using 2.8 and Windows XP.
so under edit pref and input controllers. I edited the scroll button of the mouse to have zoom in and out. works like a charm. Now, i have seleted to edit the ctrl+scroll up and down features to change brush size. Problem is, it works great right after i have selected the brush and type of tool i want, but as soon as i paint on the image and then hit the ctrl button, it now displays the another tool and i think its the color picker. I try to also scroll the mouse wheel and nothin.
I cant seem to find the option that is controlling the color picker or whatever that tool is to come up when the i hit ctrl. I even searched for color picker under keyboard shortcuts.
I have installed both version 2.6.11 and also version 2.4.7 of the Windows version of Gimp that I have downloaded from here [URL]
When I launch Gimp, and select File / Open from the main menu, neither TIF/TIFF nor JPG/JPEG files are listed when "All Images" is selected in the file type drop-down listbox. If I select "All Files", and then select either a TIFF or JPEG file, then an error message appears stating "Unknown file type". The specific types listed in the file type drop down list box include:
GIMP XCF image (*.xcf)
bzip archive (*.xcf.bz2, *.bz2, *.xcfbz2)
Dexktop Link (*.desktop)
G3 fax image (*.g3)
GIF image (*.gif)
gzip archive (*.xcf.gz, *.gz, *.xcfgz)
Photoshop image (*.psd)
I have read here: [URL] that, "Some of the file types, such as JPEG and TIFF, require extra libraries (described elsewhere)." I have no idea where "elsewhere" is.
I have completely uninstalled, rebooted, and reinstalled both version 2.6.11 and 2.4.7 with the exact same results each time. The program otherwise works as advertized, with no errors or problems that I am aware of.
Am I missing something here? All indications are that GIMP (Even the Windows version) natively supports TIFF / TIF and JPEG / JPG files, but that is certainly not my experience!
I am specifically interested in opening TIFF / TIF files.
Is there any trick to increase the intensity of the "highlight" option of the crop tool?
