Alright, so I'm trying to import a checker pattern onto my drawing for clothing decoration. The first time I did it, no problem, but now when I try to import a layer it doesn't work the way I want it to. When I try to erase parts of it, instead of being transparent, it erases away white. (See attachment) How can I fix this?
View 1 RepliesI am deciding to switch over to gimp from pixelmator because of the extra features. However, there is one thing that is making me concerned is some limitations in the filters.
How do I create a checkerboard pattern (using the filter) which has a green color for its primary color and transparency for its secondary color? In pixelmator this is easily done because there are extra color pickers in that filter supports transparency, so no problem. However, this isn't the case in gimp.
I just got a new computer (Windows 7) and I don't like the default "Paint" program that comes with it. I've been using the Windows XP paint program for a long time and Paint.Net was the closest thing I could find to it.
I don't use Paint to edit photos or create super detailed artwork. I use it to draw little things (the image size is usually 50x50 or 100x100 pixels) and zooming in to 400%-800%. I've used paint.net a few times but I was wondering if there was a place in the program that would let me set preferences. It would just save a little time making it more convenient and less frustrating.
These are the things that I would like to change:
1: When moving a selected item it automatically leaves a "checker board" pattern on the image. It's relatively easy to fix with the "Paint Bucket" tool. Though if there was an option to make it only leave the default area white it would be a time saver.
2: When moving a selected item it will automatically replace the image beneath where you place it. In the Windows XP program there was an option to either replace an image or to replace all other colors except white (255green+255red+255green on the custom color spectrum). Is there an option like that in this program?
3: After moving a selected image (using the "rectangle select" tool then the "move selected pixels" tool) is it possible to simply de-select the selected image without having to click on the "rectangle select" tool and right clicking? In other words, being able to move an image, deselect the image, then automatically return the tool to "line" tool?
4: While using the "Line/Curve" tool the 4 click and drag points automatically appear on it to make it "curve-able" so is there a way to just leave it as a solid line without those 4 selectable points appearing?
5: Is there a way that I can make "Line Tool" my default cursor instead of pencil?
When moving images into PE 10 for editing, patterns on clothing get distorted (stripes, checks). These are fine in other programs after downloading from the camera. They are also fine in the PE 10 RAW editor, but distort when moved into the editor. It does not seem to be just a display issue as they also print with the distorted patterns. how to correct or avoid this from happening?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to change the color of some clothing from black to a tan or gray.  I have seen tutuorials that use a hue/saturation layer mask to accomplish this task. But I find that with black clothes nothing happens when I change the hue. I assume this is because of the black? View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to make a hexagonal lattice of circles (1 micron dia, period - 3 microns) and exted it over a square cm in area atleast. The final objective is to make this as a mask pattern for the Laser fabrication/writer. So I create the pattern over a small area and use array command to extend it over a finite area (~500 microns or so). I then combine these points to a single block and then use the mirror command to extend it even further. But as soon as I reach an area of 2.5 mm square, the program seems to slow down and doesnt respond. I assume this is the limitation of my computing power to handle so many objects at once. (I have 4 GB RAM and 97 % is utilized at this time). Is there a way to circumvent this computing limitation, making use of some facility/command within AutoCAD?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to write an external iLogic rule that will export the unfolded model of a sheet metal part in a drawing from a rule triggered in the .idw. These drawings will contain only one model reference. The reason for doing this from the drawing are as follows:
1) The location of the resulting .stp file must be the same directory as the .idw file. our file structure does not co-locate these files so the drawing path is required to locate the .stp file.
2) The current Drawing Rev level is to appended to the .stp file name. We do not populate the Rev iProperty in the part.
I have scabbed together some code from verious deep dark corners on the internet and Have arrived at the code posted below, but It errors during the .stp file creation with the following:

I have a weldment which includes a sheet metal part called sPart. I want to show a detail of the flat pattern of sPart on the weldment drawing and still be able to balloon the flat as the part of the weldment. So I clicked to add base view and selected sPart from the Preparation dropdown list under the Model State tab of the Drawing View dialog box. The problem is I cannot find an option for using the parts flat pattern.

If I export the pattern: somePattern.pat on my desktop. It doesnt appear in the list of patterns(Bucket FIll > Pattern FIll)
If I try to export it(save it) in C:/programfiles/gimp2
It tells me that I don't have the permission to do so. I also tried: C:/programfiles/gimp2/share/gimp/2.0/patterns. Still when I try to save it is telling me that I don't have the permission to save there.

I want to initially take existing clothing and change the colours and add designs. As an example, how would I get this soccer kit to be either all white or white on everything apart from the shorts?
I have managed to get yellow to go white using the hue/saturation tool but dark colours seem like its impossible. I do also want to know how to go from white to a darker colour but maybe I should save that for my next thread.

I downloaded re synthesizer, but I am lost on how to make a repeatable pattern... some website said re synthesizer is used for removing watermarks, I cannot find anything relating to making a repeatable pattern.
