I need to transform a selection of ranges of grayscale image in colors. For example: using GSM of a gray scale image as a parameter I want to recode pixels from 0 to 20 in red, 21 to 40 in orange, 41 to 60 in yellow and so forth... until pixel valued 256 in GSM.

Because I want to edit the base and put clothes on it and such. I opened the image in gimp and added the lines for the clothes on multiple layers. I went in to color it and the color showed up grey, any color i used turned out to be grey. Then I looked up at where they put the name of the image and it says: (greyscale, 6 layers) I assume that why i cant color it. is their any way to change this so i can add and edit color?

View 9 Replies View Relatedi'm using gimp 2.6.11 on a windows 7 enterprise machine. I made some brushes in rbg mode and saved as gbr, and also converted some ps brushes by exporting an abr as a png in rbg mode then saving as gbr. my goal is to get a gbr brush that i can change the color to the foreground color. I tried changing the mode from rgb to greyscale but when i try to re-save as gbr i get an error message that brushes can only be saved in greyscale or rgba (!).
i've tried saving the gbr as a png, changing the mode to greyscale and then saving as gbr but i get the same error message.
Any good skin texture brushes for gimp that can be used with foreground color? It's for a digital portrait of a male so I need an orangepeel texture and some other skin textures that aren't too airbrushed.
I'm new to GIMP. I've used Adobe Photoshop for years an years and no longer have access to the license. So I've been giving GIMP a test drive for a little while. I'm confused as to why when I apply a filter to my image or layer it changes the color to B/W or grayscale? I'm sure this is a relatively easy fix, but most filters I'm using don't have many options and I can't seem to apply the filter "as is". It always changes my whole graphic to grayscale. View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had gimp for quite awhile now and ive never come across this problem before. im trying to use the layer mask with greyscale and inverted image just as i always have. but when i go to edit my color i get grey! ive always been able to change colors this way! i know that the mode is set to rgb. im on the correct layer. ive closed it. ive restarted my laptop.
If i click on the transparency part i get a big blob of color as i should. but on the mask it does what its supposed to but in shades of grey. i dont understand whats wrong! it always worked perfectly. . .

Why is it easy to turn an alpha channel into a grayscale image but not the reverse?
How do I quickly separate an image's channels into grayscale layers? I'll need to do this frequently, so is there an automated way? If there isn't, can it be done with python scripting? Would it take me a long time to learn how to write such a script assuming I know a bit of Python (as used in Blender), but haven't done any scripting with GIMP?

I have all the swatches in psd files in one directory. I can do them one-by-one but I was wondering if there was a way to automate this process and have it spit out and save the different images automatically based on the saved swatch colors.
My image is in grayscale though it's recognised as RGB. It contains structures in white which I would like to fill with a colour. So basically, I'd like for all the white in the image to show up as e.g. red.
How do I do that? I'm guessing it must be possible to have a red layer and somehow this will then fill the white, but I'm getting confused with background and foreground filling options and I don't know which transparency options I have to choose.

I found all of the javascript on my Expression Web 4 project coding had lost its color coding. All the text was black.It doesn't matter if the code is in a js file or in a html page.I tried, Tools > Page Editor Options... and Color Coding Tab, going to, and changing Display items called "Script ??????". But it doesn't fix it.
The only one that seems to work is "Script Identifier", and that changes all of the script to one color.Later in September I did a bit more.
I went to System Restore and restored my computer to a date two weeks previous.This fixed the problem. Color Coding for JS files in EW4 returned.I then started to install the Windows Updates and Programs that where installed in this period, until the problem came back. (Color Coding for JS files disappeared.)
The problem seemed to come on when I install Corel Paintshop Pro X4 (trial Version).At the same time I installed PSP X4, DirectX was installed. I don't know if PSP X4 had anything to do with the DirectX install.
If I uninstall PSP X4, the problem still remained with EW4.The only way to restore the problem with EW4 was to use System Restore again and restore to the state before the DirectX Install.
Today 20th November I did some more testing.Again my color coding for javascript went back to black.
I've had a couple of Windows 7 updates recently, (KB917607, KB 2607576 and also SP3 for Microsoft Office 2007) not sure if this bought the problem back on.

Today I thought I would do a bit more testing. I reloaded PSPX4 using file PSPP_X4_PF.exe This caused the color coding for javascript to go black.
I thought, what if I reload it again on top of the existing file. BUT I accidentally reloaded Video Studio X4 (File VSX4_Pro_TBYB.exe) Running this file a second time (File VSX4_Pro_TBYB.exe), actually asks if you want to remove Video Studio X4. I said no and cancelled.Now I went back to EW4 and the color coding for Javascript had miraculously re appeared.
When I reboot the PC and go to EW4 javascript, the color coding has gone.When I run Video Studio X4 (File VSX4_Pro_TBYB.exe) a second time and do the cancel, the color coding comes back.
I can do this any amount of times,
Reboot - no color.
Reload VSX4 - color returns.
Reboot - no color.
Reload VSX4 - color returns.
Something seems to get loaded on the initialising of VSX4.
I want to select a specific color from within the image, and change all similar colors within that image to a different color. In other words, after using the Color Picker Tool to select a color from the image, I want to take the selected color (and everything in the image that is equal to or similar in color), and change them all to a different color.
I tried using the Path's Tool to create an outline in the image, and changing colors that way, but it changes all the other colors in the selection I don't want to change. I just want to change all colors in the image/selection that are equal to or similar to the selected color. How do I do this?
The project is a photo montage. It was 4-color, now must become 2 colors. So I've changed each of the original 4-color photos (jpg and eps) into separate psd files (as grayscale/duotone/montage-and assigned it One pantone color)

I have a color picture, and I want to convert it to B&W, and then I want to add another color to it (for example – red). I don’t want to paint some areas in it, I want for example to keep all the red parts of the picture, or only part of the red parts.

I'm attempting to tilt this image for use in a game im writing. I've been using Map Object and rotation (Y) but this then causes pixel color changes on the boundary with the background color. How would I tilt this picture without getting the problem?

I understand how to use the spot color channel but I don't know how to assign tints of my color. When I import the images into InDesign, the color swatches show various instances of my PMS color and when I get ready to package the InDesign file, it shows duplicates of the color. Don't I need all instances of the single PMS color to separate onto one plate, while the black (and its tints) separate to another? I want a two-color end result.

Today I tried to print a B&W line-art document, and it printed in a faint yellow. I tried another B&W doc, and the same thing happened. I exported the documents as both .pdf and .jpeg, and they printed in B&W using the Preview application.

As it happens, all the color carts in my printer are either low or out of ink. Only the pgiment black is full (I put it in yesterday). So I wonder if my B&W docs have been printing from the color carts and not the pigment black cart. Is there any way to get PSE to use the pigment black cart?

I opened a new document for print, specifying cmyk color and now, when I try to choose a color and apply to an object it only comes out in grayscale. What am I not understanding? as this is a first for me. I've looked back into document set up but am missing what ever it is that will not allow me to display or show color in my document.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a complex pattern, that looks brilliant with a color layer. However, it was originally created RGB.
I converted the color to CMYK for print, and all the color disappears! Not that the layer is deleted, but the color layer appears Grayscale. The only area where color shows up are in the pieces that are at 50% transparency (see purple diamond). I have all my color areas set to CMYK including the color pallet.
The color will show if I set the layer to multiply, but it doesn't look the same way as it does when its in RGB mode.
