GIMP :: Bringing Down Any Menu On 50 X 40 In 72dpi Causes Instability And Freeze
Dec 30, 2012
it seems to only be doing this on 50 x 0 in 72dpi unnamed (not given an extension yet) pictures!!! every time I have a picture of that size and I bring down ANY menu (such as 'edit') it causes Gimp to be unstable and freeze and I lose EVERYTHING in ALL pictures I have up after closing the nonresponsive process!
I select a component in my assembly, right click to get the context menu, and suddenly my component is no longer selected. I get the generic context menu. I have to select the part from the model tree to get the specific context menu. What did I turn on... or off to get this annoying behavior? Who did I anger... I've been good, I promise!

When working in CS2 about every 10 minutes or so i'll go into my menu bar and it's locked up. No menu's drop down. The toolbox and all the tools and all keyboard shortcuts work but that's it. When I click on file, edit, etc. nothing happens. I have to ctrl+s and close Photoshop. A real pain in the ass. Adobe was no help so I'm reaching out to all you good people. My system is clean is any viruses, spyware and ad ware. I have no other problems of any kind and I'm working with small files (avg. 2 megs) with plenty of RAM (512 MB)
Is it possible to bring different layers to the front in different parts of an image?
I'm working on a project that involves putting together 100x100 pixel squares from different images. I start with one image in each layer and delete 100x100 chunks of different layers until the image I need for that square is visible.
I have installed AutoCAD 2013 student on my Laptop (Win7 32Bit) and want to work now.
But I have the problem that my Menubar always freezes / becomes instabil.
-> When I open ACAD, the menu bar is by default on "Home", when I click on the tab "Insert", the tools of "insert" aren't visible, there are still the tools from "Home" shown (Line, Polyline, Circle etc.)
But when I click on these wrong shown tools, the tools of "Insert" become active. (Only the 'surface' doesn't react)
Well, I see always the Home-tools. All the other tools aren't displayed to me, but they work (if u know where they are, you can guess and click and hope you hit the right one )
Every time I use the drop down menu to select unit to save OR open a file, it freezes and then all the programbecomes not responding (have to force close from windows utility).
I am using Gimp for years now, and few days ago I have updated to latest 2.8 version. However, since the update (more like clean installation than update) to 2.8 I am experiencing extreme slowdown while moving image around with middle mouse button (wheel) or with the button on my tablet's pen. The image gets thorn apart a Gimp freezes for about 10-15 seconds. The thing is, this only happens with 2.8 version (never happened with 2.6) and only while I am using middle mouse button (wheel), or the button on my tablet's pen, for moving around. If I use "Navigate" cross at bottom right, I can move the picture without any tearing and slowdown/freeze.
I keep getting Instability of node errors in my Frame Generator. Specifically type 3 at node 62 in direction RY. I am new to FG results seem reasonable just can't get past this error. I tried deleting the member and inserting a new one in its place. The error then goes to another node?
The application is a steel box frame being lifted by a crane, FWIW. when you create special parts for FG and post them from Iparts, where do they go? I need to go back in and alter some properties.

Crop and straighten tool no longer work correctly in PSE 11, windows 7. Problem surfaced in the last week. Have done a complete reinstall and problem still exists. Appers to be an instability error.
Not sure if this can be done, i have a web development project to start but have been given a lot of PSD files. Normally this would be ok as i would just bounce them to HTML. The problem i have is they are all set to 300dpi. Is there a quick way to convert them to 72dpi? I don't like the idea of have to convert each layer.
I'm trying to open an Illustrator document in Photoshop. It will only open at 72dpi, but I want it to be actual size, at 300dpi. How can I change this?
I'm new to Lightroom so I'm used to being able to simply adjust the dpi of my photos from 300 to 72 (or whatever I need it to be). I can't seem to locate a similar feature in Lightroom. Am I missing something here? How can I change my large 300dpi files into smaller 72dpi?
I have 72dpi image at 18in. I need to go to print. Should I resize to 300dpi at around 4in or just scale down the image? It will go on a business card so I really have enough pixels because it's not very big, just not sure best resize method.
I just started a new job and they gave me a new Macbook Pro with Retina. I'm accustomed to designing all of my website mockups at 72dpi, but when I open any of their already designed files, they're super small on the Retina screen. I have to plug in a non-retina external monitor just to work with the files.
What can I do to work on the much more beautiful Retina screen? For new files moving forward, should I be setting up my documents at twice the resolution or size?
have never discovered an answer to this one. currently using LR4 and have previously used LR2 and 3 with the same issue.
my PP workflow is essensially for the web, so I save images at 72ppi for web viewing and yet when I create a web gallery with LR it converts each image to a print resolution of 240dpi.
that's right. changes from ppi to dpi. go figure.
even if ppi (points per inch) is exactly the same as dpi (dots per inch), why the heck is LR making the change and how can I prevent that change from occuring?
I was instructed on a video tutorial to be sure to turn off anti-aliasing on this web design/template I am making in Photoshop as they did. But all my text is really bitmapped and on the video it is not bit mapped at all. There is no way to email them to ask so I did some research on my own.
I am on a windows 7 system running Photoshop CS4. My file is an RGB 32 bit, 72dpi 900 x 1000 pixels - pixel aspect ratio is set on square pixels and somewhere I read to turn off the fractional widths in the Character panel which I did but my text is very bitmapped. I don't understand why I would turn off anti-aliasing for such a low resolution file for the web - and why the video tutorial shows their type is absolutely fine.
I am attempting to bring a DEM into Civil 3D using the "create surface from DEM" function. I am successful with this, but the units for the DEM appear to be correct for X-Y and incorrect for elevation. The original DEM has metric X-Y coordinates and English elevations. I would like all to be in English units in the Civil 3D file.
The elevation values and X-Y values have been reduced by a factor of 1/3.208 as I have set the drawing units to English. This is correct for the X-Y, but incorrect for the elevation as the original DEM has metric X-Y coordinates and English elevations.
I am trying to bring in a KML file into CAD. Specificaly, I am trying to bring the contour lines in as polylines/lines. Is there a way to convert KML into DWG/DXF files that can be opened? I can live without the heights being part of it as I can just refer back to my Google Earth to get that information, I just need the lines themselves.
I'm using Photoshop CS2 on XP Media Center Edition. I cannot, for the life of me, find out how set the default dpi of images being brought into Photoshop.
At the moment I'm using an Action but that's pretty time intensive when I have to bring in more than a few photos. Sometimes I have 2 or 3 hundred to do.
I am editing an image to match another completed version of the same image. When I bring in my working copy with some edits to the x/y window to compare, my working copy appears unedited.
recently installed inventor pro 2014 on a school computer for a project we are doing, one problem. when i click 2D sketch nothing happens, so i have no wau to make a sketch.
I took a one-day course on Photoshop with NAPP and the instructor was showing us how to bring a photo closer together where the objects are closer but it doesn't distort the photo.
Just Starting with new Revit LT 2013(The Comparison chart from Autodesk lists the differences between LT and Full Revit as no Massing, Rendering and no multi user collaboration) Everything else should be the same!
I'm using 'LT_USI_Residential-Default' Template for my project. In the Stair Family, I have a few options, but not the '7"max riser 11" tread' stair that is available in other Templates. Is there a way to bring that Stair Family into the Template?
Maybe I don't know the 'workarounds', but none of the Stairs available in the above Template have changeable 'width' parameter under 'Dimensions' in the properties window. No matter what I do, all Stairs are first drawn 4' wide, and then I have to edit the width, but it's a pain since I get bunch of error messages and Landings often can't complete and needed to be manually added later.Even though the Type Properties list all stairs widths as 3' min., they still all draw as 4'.What's wrong with these Stairs?
I am drawing a floor plan in my autocad and if i want the entire floor plan to be moves to the origin how i can do it.
And also if i make the dimension and the text and when i plot and set different scales and different viewports how i can get the same size of the text and dimension on both the viewports on the layout.
My drawing is set in millimeters, the drawing i want to xref (which i only have read-access to and can't modify) should be in millimeters, but the UNITS are set to inches.. so the door appears to be 900 inches instead of 900 mm for example.
is there a way to bring this drawing in at the correct scale? i was looking at INSUNITS but it doesn't really have something that would set up my scale factor to 1/25.4, which i think is what i would need to do this.. is there a way to do this without manually scaling the xref after it's brought in?
I have an image with 2 layers. On one of the layers I have applied a gradient (default). I want to edit the gradient yet when I attempt to move the sliders by clicking and dragging, nothing moves. In addition, when I right click on the gradient window, the gradient editing menu appears but I cannot get it to do anything as the end functions in the menu are grayed out.
Windows XP, adminastrators rights, I have purchased a ACECAD tablet and confirmed that it is working as it should. Now, this tablet has pressure sensitivity.
When I try to add a value in the drop down menu to the pressure tab in the configure input devices window I get the following message when I try to save....
