Lightroom :: Converting 72dpi Images To 240dpi When Creating A Web Gallery
Mar 3, 2013
have never discovered an answer to this one. currently using LR4 and have previously used LR2 and 3 with the same issue.
my PP workflow is essensially for the web, so I save images at 72ppi for web viewing and yet when I create a web gallery with LR it converts each image to a print resolution of 240dpi.
that's right. changes from ppi to dpi. go figure.
even if ppi (points per inch) is exactly the same as dpi (dots per inch), why the heck is LR making the change and how can I prevent that change from occuring?
I would like to be able to send my customer with a link to web gallery with my first picks of the photo shooting for their selection.
Customer would be able to select, from the web gallery their favorites.
The service /plugin should be able to then, send me some sort of information that would allow me to automate the creation of another Collection only with their picks in LighRoom 4.
Presently, all of my images are stored on windows photo gallery. I have them organized into folders& subfolders. would the same folders and sub folders be exported into lrm as labeled. I know you do this under import mode and add from others. Would it behove me to make sure all of my gallery folders are properly labeled tagged etc. before i do this transfer. When i do the transfer can i rename the folders,re-tag them etc.
The color space on the selected images appears to be changing when I use the Lightroom flash gallery in the web module of LR4.1. This stays the same when the gallery is uploaded. In previous version of LR I have seen color changes in the web module but they have been corrected (and correct) when the gallery is uploaded to the 'net.
I have read that this was (previously) a problem with the flash gallery specifically becuase it was not colour magaded, but I understood that this had been corrected for LR4. As far as my use is concerned it's actually more problematic now than it has been previously.
I'm new to Lightroom so I'm used to being able to simply adjust the dpi of my photos from 300 to 72 (or whatever I need it to be). I can't seem to locate a similar feature in Lightroom. Am I missing something here? How can I change my large 300dpi files into smaller 72dpi?
My lightroom 4.2 installation just started automatically converting all my images to b&w on import. It looks like is applying a preset, but the develop settings are set to none. I can open the image with the canon raw file tools, and with Picasa in full color no problem.
While working in LR 4, after several hundred edits for no reason it started converting the images to B/W? Seems to be some sort of glitch, they are color then change to B/W?
in photoshop one can create mirror edges manually or by using an action. the mirror is to cover the visible edge of a canvas wrapped on a stretcher bar. is there a way to do this using corel?
I've selected around 300 images from an intial shoot of 1200. I've assigned a star to the selected 300 and developed a colour image of each. Now, I need to make a BW version of each of the 300 images
What is the simplest way to do this? I have tried to make virtual copies of the selected 300 and assign 2 stars to enable me to keep the original 300 in colour and work on the soon to be BW versions, but when I do this I can only make a single virtual copy at a time. I'm sure it must be possible to select all 300 at once, and make 300 virtual copies somehow.
Is there a simple video demonstrating this workflow somewhere?
I have created a couple of collections but when I go into slide show the images are not visible for creating a slide show. Works ok with some collections but not all. Presumably there is a linkage problem. Using v4.4 on a Mac.
I'm wondering if it's possible to create smart previews for images that were imported into the catalog in a prior version of LR. As my catalog continues to increase in size, I'm considering relocating my images to an external drive (currently on the hard drive). I'm obviously concerned about doing any unintended damage to the catalog and workflow.
In CS2, when you use the Web Photo Gallery from Bridge Photoshop tools, Is there any way to make the thumbnails and the larger images so that they cannot be "saved as" on someones computer and then printed?
Do I have to upgrade to Elements 11 in order to add additional images to my gallery that was moved to Adobe Revel? I'm currently running Elements 10 and my new images don't seem to be uploading.
Adobe informed me that web gallery creation is no longer available in Bridge CC. I was told to download Lightroom for this capability. When I tried to do that, I was told that my operating system 10.6.8 is not compatible. I use 10.6.8 to use third party software. Will Adobe return this feature to Bridge?
If so, add a watermark feature (such as the one that Dr. Russell Brown created for CS6) Also, include more html5 galleries or galleries that will appear on multiple kinds of devices.
I have created a media pack application but need to find a way for users save some images to disc from within the application? The images are in a gallery and I want to avoid opening another browser window and using the R click > save image as.
Is there a method to move gallery tabs so that Page & Layer Gallery tab is first in line (at the top) of docked gallery tabs at the right of the screen? I can move gallery tabs, but cannot make Page & Layer gallery tab move to the top.
Using Win7 64bit + PS CS6 64 bit ext on a 16GB PC. In which folder do I find the web gallery templates for Bridge CS6? Is there info available on how the programming/ configuration works with the info passed by Bridge - filename, contact info, copyrights, description/title, email, etc.
I've had a great time using the Web Photo Galleries in Photoshop CS and CS2, especially since I'm fairly deft with HTML and a total Flash dunce, so the Web Photo Gallery Flash 1 and Flash 2 templates have served me well and allowed me to make fun Flash stuff without having to learn. But, with learn-by-doing, there often comes a point of confusion, and I think I've found mine.
I noticed that (when using the gallery "Flash 1"), if I click the little ? in the bottom right, the file name will come on and stay on throughout all the pictures. This is exactly what I want since that's where I do all my captioning and it really adds something for me to be able to see that. My question: how in the world do I get it to do this by default? I'm always telling friends/family, "oh, click the little ? in the bottom right and it'll show the captions," but am certain there must be some way to do this by default.
I fiddled in the galleryconfig.xml file, but there's only this line
HTML Code: <var symboltype="boolean" name="showHelpButton" value="true" /> which actually just tells the button to be displayed, but not for the thing that happens as a result of pushing the button to stay displayed.
Not sure if this can be done, i have a web development project to start but have been given a lot of PSD files. Normally this would be ok as i would just bounce them to HTML. The problem i have is they are all set to 300dpi. Is there a quick way to convert them to 72dpi? I don't like the idea of have to convert each layer.
I'm trying to open an Illustrator document in Photoshop. It will only open at 72dpi, but I want it to be actual size, at 300dpi. How can I change this?
I have 72dpi image at 18in. I need to go to print. Should I resize to 300dpi at around 4in or just scale down the image? It will go on a business card so I really have enough pixels because it's not very big, just not sure best resize method.
I just started a new job and they gave me a new Macbook Pro with Retina. I'm accustomed to designing all of my website mockups at 72dpi, but when I open any of their already designed files, they're super small on the Retina screen. I have to plug in a non-retina external monitor just to work with the files.
What can I do to work on the much more beautiful Retina screen? For new files moving forward, should I be setting up my documents at twice the resolution or size?
it seems to only be doing this on 50 x 0 in 72dpi unnamed (not given an extension yet) pictures!!! every time I have a picture of that size and I bring down ANY menu (such as 'edit') it causes Gimp to be unstable and freeze and I lose EVERYTHING in ALL pictures I have up after closing the nonresponsive process!
I have been given the task of figuring out a way to have etching placed on our parts to show the part number of the part. The end goal is to get the parts laser cut but have the part number etched into the part.Is there a way to convert text (i.e. 12345) to a sketched symbol that the punch feature would recognize and then add it to the library? Right now we are using 2012 but will be upgraded to 2014 within the next 6 months.
I import a gallery into LR 5. It shows up on the list on the left side. I click on the folder. The folder opens but the thumbs are dimmed. I can't undim them. I can open a single file but can't Develop it or do anything with it. I can't even Delete the folder so I can try again.
This happens over and over again. Yes, I'm new to LR but this is ridiculous.
