Often I will have a complicated path that took a long time to make, only to lose it by selecting another tool. How can I restore a path after this happens? The undo function does not restore paths.
Also, is there a way so transform (scale, rotate, etc) a path? I know I could turn it onto a selection first, but I usually need to edit the path itself afterwards.
I'm getting the hang of tool "o" & tool "shift o". After I make this selection, is there a way to deselect only part of it?
Especially when the part is not connected to the rest of the selection.
I mainly use GIMP to create or alter memes for Facebook. The default fontfor text in 2.8 is Sans, just as in previous versions. However the type isnot Sans, but something similar to Courier (old typewriter type). Is theresome way to correct this fault and restore Sans as the actual font?

Somehow I changed the bottom to Airbrush tools. I tried resetting tool defaults. No luck I still have only the airbrush tools at the bottom of the left dock.
i play around with a gimp-image. i want to "ERASE" the text in the balls.
Well i guess that this is a bit tricky - since the background of the circles/balls is somewhat different and has sometimes multiple "(!!!) background-colors. So if we try to get the original - color of the circles then this is somewhat tricky.
Why the "Text along path" feature hovers the text so far above the currently active path? (in my case, the space between the path and the text is about 3 times the height of the currently used font!). I've been told that the letters should lie on top of or at least closer to the path instead. How can I move the text closer to the path?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to place text to a "curvy" path. I took some screen shots to show you want I'm talking about.
I created a simple curvy path 1 point on each end. (I noticed I drew in a node in the middle of the curve as well. But that actually doesn't exist in the path. I created the text a reasonable size and clicked "Text Along Path". As you can see, it never starts at the beginning of the path. Ever. I have sized the font up, and it gets a little closer to the beginning, but obviously the end of the address flies off the path. I've sized down the text and it will start even further to the middle of the path.
I have no problem getting my text along a path but I am having trouble getting the text and the path to align so that the center of the text element is centered on the path.
Is this possible or do I have to figure out someway to make my path of a certain length so it ends up that the text fits to it perfectly??
Here is a screenshot of my current problem. You can see that the text and the image below it are centered. I then placed some guide lines to make sure my path was also centered. When I placed that text along the path though, it left justified the text when I want it to be centered instead..

I am trying to create a watermark for my images.
I have followed several tutorials to a point where I am ready to crop my watermark and set as a defined brush.
I select the crop tool, and go to select the text and the text disappears. If I go ahead and retry to select an area...then the crop tool actually works, but my text is gone.
The other thing is, my text is in what I would describe as a "free selection lasso" meaning the text isnt in bold, but rather has a floating edge around it.
I am trying to make an animation for a school project. It is a stickman animation, and I want to move a characters legs without deselecting him. However, I also want to save the image at the same time(to put in Movie Maker). Is there a plugin for this? Or do I have to go through the process of constantly redrawing stickman?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI use [k] to get me into local adjustments, and [z] to zoom in, how I can pan around without deselecting the local adjustments (which loses which local adjustment I have selected). I tried [fn]+[arrow key] without any luck. This is very disruptive for me.

I'm working on a graphic in which I wish to have some text around a circle. I know, I know, use "Text to Path" ... except that will not work in this case because the text I want to have go around the circle is not from a font, but drawn by me (my other other project; find a program for creating font files that I can afford to make a proper font so "Text to Path" would work).
So, I have a selection (and a path from that selection) that is basically the outline of the text I want to manipulate. I have another selection for the circle the text is supposed to go around. What is the (probably obvious) thing that I'm missing to get the text selection path to be drawn on the circle?
It's a problem occurring frequently If the contents of a specific layer is comprised of thin, short or small objects, brush strokes etc. and I need to move them.
When I try to select them (in order to move them), many times the mouse goes a little to the side of the objects (because they're so thin/small) and clicks on the object(s) on the layer beneath. This also has the unwanted side-effect of automatically deselecting the current layer.
Isn't it possible, once a layer is selected, to click and drag anywhere on the canvas to move its contents without deselecting it, like in Photoshop?
We just installed AutoCAD P&ID 2013 and there is a HUGE problem with deselecting. This problem is not just on one computer, it is a systemic issue in P&ID 2013.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am having an issue that appeared this morning when I woke up and turned my computer on... My AutoCAD 2012 (full) is locking up on certain things:
-When I select something without a command on (free selecting) it selects the items fine, but when I press the ESCAPE button to deselect everything there is a 1-2 second pause and then it deselects everything, instead of it instantly happening as it did for the past, oh I dunno, 10 years.
-If I select the items then type the command, normally it would instantly start that command with the items I had selected. Now, after selection items, when I type the command, it pauses for 1-2 seconds and the runs the command as usual.
-I am trying to edit an AutoCAD table, normally this is as smooth as butter. Now, not only are the same issues mentioned above happening, when I go to edit a cell, the typing has a 1-2 second delay and then starts. Once I start editing one box, it will move to the next cell smoothly. But if I click outside the box to end editing, there is a 1-2 second pause.
Last night, I randomly thought, "Oh, I'll run my McAfee virus scan because I haven't for a long time", literally I don't remember the last time I ran that. I also thought, "Oh, I might as well run the Dell PC Checkup scan", this is a factory program that came on the computer that again, I can not remember the lst time this was ran. Both scans went through Full Scans and found ZERO issues. The PC Checkup found one issue on an external hard drive that I use for BACK UP ONLY, I was not concerned with this because I figured it was either just an issue in the connection or between the 2 softwares. Also I wasn't concerned with it because if it does fail, it's a backup drive only anyway, so I'd just replace it.
Multiple objects are selected, I hold shif and cross-window over objects from right to left, I expect everything I cross to be deselceted. I my testing only one item is deselected.
Is there a variable I am forgetting about here or is something a miss?
After I position a crop on an image it keeps moving up, to the top of the image, after I deselect the image. I did use the upright functionality at first but turn it of to do it manually. Maybe this feature has left some settings in the LR develop settings for this image. I could post some screenshots if that will work.
View 29 Replies View RelatedI'm having troubles using Photoshop CS6 (64-bit) on Windows 7 (x64). After deselecting the move tool, or any tool that has move capabilities, such as the various transform tools, Photoshop crashes to the desktop.
I have reset all preferences by holding CTRL + ALT + SHIFT while starting Photoshop and by manually deleting the preferences files. I've also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Photoshop in its entirety. These attempts to solve the issue didn't change anything regarding the crashing. I am using the latest drivers for my graphics cards.
I have some lines/plines..Pedit - J, then select my line and once I select the second one the first (last) selection is deselected. I cannot find the answer to this myself on google on here, i'm starting to get paranoid at my in ability to recall any of my AutoCAD working memory.

I've finally done it, but it's going along the wrong part of the circle - I want it to go along the top and it's part way round - and I can't seem to find a way to move it along. I've tried several times but it does the same thing each time.
Also the text isn't showing in the right font, although it is in the text box. Am I missing something?

In PS, there is the ability to stroke inside, along the middle, or outside of the path.
How, in GIMP, can I select where the stroking occurs?
I've created a complicated polygon (hundreds of nodes) with the Paths Tool and am trying to fill it. When I select the Bucket Fill Tool, I get a tiny little error message at the bottom that reads: "Cannot modify the pixels of layer groups". Now then, I do have a Layer Group in the Layers tab to collect text items, but this is a Path in the Paths tab (which I thought was separate).
I have tried switching the path from Stroke to Selection, but it doesn't seem to make a difference.
In the past, I've used Fireworks (mainly), Photoshop, and Illustrator with varying degrees of success.
I just downloaded GIMP 2.8 for Max Snow Leopard. I like a lot of the new features, particularly being able to use the one window feature.
I'm having some challenges with Text along path. I found it under the context menu okay. However, when I use it, only part of the words I'm trying to put on the selected path show up. I was using three words that amount to a total of 20 letters. The last half of the last word is getting cut off. I've tried several different things to no avail.
j pgs can contain paths info. In Photoshop you'll be able to get that path.
We use it a lot for packshots, this way we can save a JPG, but with an embedded outline Path, this way you'll always be able to "cut out" the packshot by selecting the path.
It does not work with gimp .
