I have a large amount of photos to send to a customer and i need to edit them to send by e-mail.
My question is does GIMP have a way to resize a large amount of images in one go instead of doing them one at a time.
Is there a way to re-size heaps of photos at once? Instead of having to go into the menu and changing the size, photo by photo? For example: If I download pics from my camera how do I change them all. Also, does anyone know how to make a folder name and it automatically updates all your .jpg file names for you? For example, a folder could be Jack's 21st and all pics become jack's21st001.jp jack's21st002.jpg etc.

I can use this and it works great for smaller projects, but crashes every time when I try to export a larg amount of points. The most it has successfully exported was 9000 points but on average it usually will get to 3000 points before i get a fatal error and everything crashes.

I'm currently working on building up a library of 3D models of crane rigging for a new job. Specifically, I'm creating wire rope slings (like this 3/8" wire rope sling) but with less of an emphasis on visual detail and more on precise measurements.
In order to simplify the process a bit, I created an excel file to enter the basic four measurements of a sling (length, rope thickness, eye width, and eye length) which then calculates and displays for me the coordinates and measurements of all the objects needed to make the sling (arcs, lines, circles to sweep along those lines, etc.)
I realize now that I'm really just creating a task of endless copy/paste, and I'm looking for a better way to get through the process. How to make this work as efficiently as possible.
Is there some way that I could point AutoCAD to the Excel file and have it read all the coordinates and measurements to draw everything automatically? I also considered creating a line in Excel that would give output that I could copy and paste into a .scr, but I have never used any scripting in CAD before, so it would be new territory for me.
I have an excel spreadsheet with a lot of coordinates. I know how to insert a large amount of coordinates as an block in my dwg. But what I want is to connect my Excel to my dwg, so if I change my Excel automatically the blocks in my dwg change.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter fairly smooth sailing for using X6 I ran into a problem that's caused me to switch back to X5 for the time being :(
I work in files that have thousands of individual characters in them. In X5 if I wanted to change the color of about 10,000 individual characters it would take about 3 seconds to do so. If I do the same thing in X6 I takes at least 30 minutes (or longer, I just killed it by that time).
Working with large amount of texts is incredibly slow X6, not just 5 or 10% or slower, doing somethings takes up to 10x times as long.....
I know there is a lot of features for text in X6 but this decrease in speed puts a complete block in my workflow. Maybe Corel could have a feature that individual text characters have minimal properties associated with them or something?

I want to create a collage image with numerous large photos, each in it's own layer during editing. In order to fit, all the images need to be scaled down to varying degrees, but when I'm starting out, I'm not sure what scale each image will need to be. With the default, if I shrink them too much then they get pixellated when I try to enlarge them again. Is there a way of enabling gimp to scale each image, but drop this version and reuse the original data on future scale operations (ie a "lossless" scaling operation)?
Currently I'm having to essentially create the collage twice - first time various shrink and expands til all images fit together, then start again but just rescale once to the required size.
I presume I'm correct in thinking there's no record function in GIMP yet, so I can't record my actions to GIMP then just delete redundant steps and replay...
I currently work for a fashion company whom do lots of designs using photoshop and the rest of the adobe applications.
When they save PSD files they're about 1GB in size.
Storage on the server seems to be getting very low now and we need to do something about it. We have several options in place for extra storage but would like your advice on down sizing the PSD files?
For example:
1) Are there add-ins to downsize?
2) Are they saving the files wrong?
3) Are they using wrong effects. layers etc?
4) Is it normal to have 1GB PSD files?
5) What can they do to have smaller PSD files?
This is probably a basic one for most people, but I'm pretty clueless... I've got a fairly large image (3000px) that I need to scale down to 500-ish px. How do I best go about doing this without getting that awful 'halo' effect? I've tried gradually scaling down without much success.

I shoot a lot of weddings and find when shooting with my Nikon D800, the files are enormous when shooting Raw. Until now I would export all my vertical images first to a folder and then the horizontal ones and then resize in photoshop to say 11x17. Is there a way to resize ALL my images before I even bring them into photoshop? I'd like to resize them all (both vert and horizontal images) at one time. If I select the batch of images I'd like to resize, and them click export, it takes me to a menu which gives me the option to resize. I just don't know what settings I should use? Can I just click width and height and punch in say 11x17 and leave it at 300dpi? I want to preserve the aulaity for print purposes but reduce the file size so it's manageable for both my client and me when I then go into Photoshop to edit.

I have tried 4256 x 2835 at 300 ppi as generated by the psd file and it looks dreadful on a large screen. I don't have ready access to large screens, so I am not able to experiment myself. Also, when resizing images (both increase and decrease) is it best to have the "resample" box in "image size" ticked or not?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a very large PDF that I need to open in Photoshop (It is a template image). The size of the image is 125.9843" x 91.5354".
However, when I open in Photoshop the image is automatically resized to about 106" x 79". I have tried to manually input the dimensions upon opening the file, however, when I open the file and check "Image Size" the dimensions are 106" x 79" again.
I can open the image in Illustrator at the correct dimensions automatically, and the PDF file itself is at the correct dimensions.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI sometimes need to resize photos to a required height and width in inches. I've been doing it by going first to image size, and setting the height that I need. Then I used the crop tool to cut some off the sides to make it the correct width. When I am doing the cropping, is there a way to see what the width is as I am cropping it? Right now, I do the crop then go to Image Size to see the result. Or is there an easier way to do this, without stretching or distorting the image?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm running LR 5.2 RC and my RAW are getting resized by one pixel when I import them. My RAW are 3456 x 5184 and need to be this size to be accepted by software I am using. Sometimes they are dropping a pixel from the long edge, sometimes just the short edge.
Is there a way to set a default sizing on import if I can't prevent this bug from happening?
I have in the homepage of themes portfolio, thumbnails which after a lot of pixel adjusting have become perfect for fitting the featured image, but the problem is in when you go the blog section, the thumbnails there are big size and the featured image in not fitting in the box correctly no matter what i do. .the only way i can fit the photo in the box is by enlarging the actual canvas of the photo (which is not professional), and then i would have a problem with the thumbnails in the homepage. Again i tried to match the size proportions of the big thumbnails in the blog to match the ones in the homepage, but with no success.

I have exhausted all the trouble shooting info I can find online and have tried the reconnecting procedures, optimized the catalog, repaired the catalog, rebuilt the thumbnails and uninstalled and reinstalled elements 7 all to no avail. The missing files, a mix of jpeg and nef totaling 272, are grouped in one block starting from the first photos I ever downloaded two years ago except for one which is a recent download.
