Photoshop :: Resizing A Large Number Of Photos

Feb 25, 2008

Is there a way to re-size heaps of photos at once? Instead of having to go into the menu and changing the size, photo by photo? For example: If I download pics from my camera how do I change them all. Also, does anyone know how to make a folder name and it automatically updates all your .jpg file names for you? For example, a folder could be Jack's 21st and all pics become jack's21st001.jp jack's21st002.jpg etc.

Photoshop :: How To Edit Batches Of Similar Photos Of One Shoot In CS4

Feb 23, 2011

How to edit a whole group of shots in CS4. Like 300 surfing shots at basically the same aperture, lens magnification...time of day. Of course, toss a bunch that have no punch...leaves several hundred files to be edited. At 3 frames per second, I am overwhelmed (but secretly loving my new Canon sports camera)

Most of my shots the surfer is "dead center" and in focus..but too far removed at 400mm even! So I painstakingly crop it up a bunch...surfers like to see their faces....is that me? or is that Kelly Slater! Then a "ton" of adjustments to each file....but....mostly the exact same edits?

Here is an edited surf photo...done, one by one.

Also, I have not been able to register my product (I purchased it about a week ago.  There is no serial number on the box or on the envelope the disc came in nor is it on the disc itself.  I've tried contacting support but when I click on the link that tells me there is an agent available, nothing happens.

Photoshop :: Resizing Large PSD Files

Jun 27, 2013

I currently work for a fashion company whom do lots of designs using photoshop and the rest of the adobe applications.

When they save PSD files they're about 1GB in size.

Storage on the server seems to be getting very low now and we need to do something about it. We have several options in place for extra storage but would like your advice on down sizing the PSD files?

For example:

1) Are there add-ins to downsize?
2) Are they saving the files wrong?
3) Are they using wrong effects. layers etc?
4) Is it normal to have 1GB PSD files?
5) What can they do to have smaller PSD files?

Photoshop :: Resizing Large Images

Aug 7, 2012

This is probably a basic one for most people, but I'm pretty clueless... I've got a fairly large image (3000px) that I need to scale down to 500-ish px. How do I best go about doing this without getting that awful 'halo' effect? I've tried gradually scaling down without much success.

Photoshop :: Resizing Images For Large LCD Screens

May 18, 2009

I want to output jpg  files as a slide show (not video) to various large LCD screens. Can someone advise me of the best image pixel dimensions and ppi for this? I have tried 4256 x 2835 at 300 ppi as generated by the psd file and it looks dreadful on a large screen. I don't have ready access to large screens, so I am not able to experiment myself. Also, when resizing images (both increase and decrease) is it best to have the "resample" box in "image size" ticked or not?

Photoshop :: Automatically Resizing Large PDF Images Upon Open

Aug 27, 2012

I have a very large PDF that I need to open in Photoshop (It is a template image). The size of the image is 125.9843" x 91.5354".

However, when  I open in Photoshop the image is automatically resized to about 106" x 79". I have tried to manually input the dimensions upon opening the file, however, when I open the file and check "Image Size" the dimensions are 106" x 79" again.

I can open the image in Illustrator at the correct dimensions automatically, and the PDF file itself is at the correct dimensions.

[I am using Photoshop CS5.1]

Lightroom :: Resizing Large Images

Jan 28, 2014

I'd like to resize a large batch of images to a more manageable size. I shoot a lot of weddings and find when shooting with my Nikon D800, the files are enormous when shooting Raw. Until now I would export all my vertical images first to a folder and then the horizontal ones and then resize in photoshop to say 11x17. Is there a way to resize ALL my images before I even bring them into photoshop? I'd like to resize them all (both vert and horizontal images) at  one time. If I select the batch of images I'd like to resize, and them click export, it takes me to a menu which gives me the option to resize. I just don't know what settings I should use? Can I just click width and height and punch in say 11x17 and leave it at 300dpi? I want to preserve the aulaity for print purposes but reduce the file size so it's manageable for both my client and me when I then go into Photoshop to edit.

Photoshop :: Resizing Photos

Oct 26, 2006

I sometimes need to resize photos to a required height and width in inches. I've been doing it by going first to image size, and setting the height that I need. Then I used the crop tool to cut some off the sides to make it the correct width. When I am doing the cropping, is there a way to see what the width is as I am cropping it? Right now, I do the crop then go to Image Size to see the result. Or is there an easier way to do this, without stretching or distorting the image?

Photoshop :: Resizing Photos In Website Thumbnails?

Aug 1, 2013

I have in the homepage of themes portfolio, thumbnails which after a lot of pixel adjusting have become perfect for fitting the featured image, but the problem is in when you go the blog section, the thumbnails there are big size and the featured image in not fitting in the box correctly no matter what i do. .the only way i can fit the photo in the box is by enlarging the actual canvas of the photo (which is not professional), and then i would have a problem with the thumbnails in the homepage. Again i tried to match the size proportions of the big thumbnails in the blog to match the ones in the homepage, but with no success.

Paint.NET :: Batch Resizing Photos?

Feb 28, 2011

Is there a way to Batch-Resize photos?

I have 160+ photos of different sizes (but mostly 1600 x 1200). I'm running them in a loop for my screensaver. I transferred them to my cellphone, to be used as wallpaper, but they're too big to fit the screen. I can only see a portion of the image. So I'd like to reduce the size for them all, without having to do each one individually (and tediously).

Is there a way to set a default sizing on import if I can't prevent this bug from happening?

I have exhausted all the trouble shooting info I can find online and have tried the reconnecting procedures, optimized the catalog, repaired the catalog, rebuilt the thumbnails and uninstalled and reinstalled elements 7 all to no avail. The missing files, a mix of jpeg and nef totaling 272, are grouped in one block starting from the first photos I ever downloaded two years ago except for one which is a recent download. Photoshop :: Batches In One Action

Jul 6, 2004

I'm a photographer and would like to do 3 batches for 3 folders
(I do photokit creative sharpening so I have 3 folders for the different sharpenings each)

I'm also a bit lazy and would like Photoshop CS to do these batches automatically without me having to go through the menu each time to select the "new" folders that should be batched.

For this purpose I wanted to define the 3 batches into one action.
Problem: It didn't work

When I click on stop recording the action after the batch is done the action is not recorded

I also tried with an action in a new set, is there some special magic to be done to get this working ?

Photoshop :: Batches, Droplets And Automations

Jun 13, 2004

I have several hundred JPEG images in a folder that I want to change to PDF's. There is something about the particular JPEGS that I have obtained that won't let me import them into Final Cut Pro. However, I can open them in Adobe Photoshop 7 (for MAC), and then resave them as JPEG's or PDF's, and once I've done that, they import fine for me into Final Cut Pro. Since I'm working with several hundred images at a time, (and do this process alot) and have to convert them all, I've tried automating the process by creating a BATCH or DROPLET Instruction. I tell the dialog boxes what folder I want the images to be taken from, I tell it I want to turn them into PDF's with the same names, and I tell it what folder I want those new files saved to.

The problem is that when using either a BATCH or DROPLET, Photoshop opens all the images, but it won't go any further. It prompts ME to SAVE the photo's and pick the size compression and tell it what folder to save them to even though I've already made those selections in the automation process.

While it saves me a little time to have it open all the files for me, I thought
the idea of a BATCH or DROPLET was that you didn't have to actually TOUCH or Manually save anything,....that photoshop does the whole process for you.

Photoshop :: Saving Files In JPEG In Batches

Jan 16, 2004

I try to save a few files in JPEG format in batches:

1. First, under Action, I open a file and include what functions to perform

2. then I save it in JPEG format which prompted a dialog box that asked for quality.

3. after I'm done creating the Action, I run the Action in batch mode.

But for each file, Photoshop generates that JPEG save dialog box for quality. this means that I have to click or press enter for every single file even while Photoshop is processing in batches!

So how do I supress that dialog box when running in batch mode and let photoshop save everything in JPEG format without pausing and at the quality I have determined when I created the Action?

I'm using Photoshop 7.01 on windows

Photoshop :: Shrinking File Size In Batches

Dec 12, 2008

I've got a number of images that are 300dpi which I need to save for the web. I've been able to take one image and change the dpi to 72 and then go into Image Ready and shrink the size some more. I've tried to automate the process but after I run a batch I actually get the files back double their original size. What might I be doing wrong here? I'm using PS 7 and, while in no way a professional, I can get by... except for this bit obviously! So, what's the best way to automate the process of turning my files into nice, lean web-ready images?
