Photoshop :: Batches In One Action
Jul 6, 2004I'm a photographer and would like to do 3 batches for 3 folders
(I do photokit creative sharpening so I have 3 folders for the different sharpenings each)
I'm also a bit lazy and would like Photoshop CS to do these batches automatically without me having to go through the menu each time to select the "new" folders that should be batched.
For this purpose I wanted to define the 3 batches into one action.
Problem: It didn't work
When I click on stop recording the action after the batch is done the action is not recorded
I also tried with an action in a new set, is there some special magic to be done to get this working ?

Dec 10, 2011I am not able to save the changes that I make to the starting position of my scenes thumbnails when I use a Thumbnail Menu to create my DVD. I am using Video Studio X4 with Service Packs 1 and 2 installed running on Windows XP Home, SP 2 with all updates installed and DirectX 9.0. The scene changes work fine when I Preview them but they are not saved when I close the Create Disk sub-menu. When I return to the “Menu and Preview” section of the Create Disk sub-menu, the Main Menu scene change is present as is the Chapter 1 scene change but the other chapter scene changes are gone. What can I do to correct this?

Jun 13, 2004I have several hundred JPEG images in a folder that I want to change to PDF's. There is something about the particular JPEGS that I have obtained that won't let me import them into Final Cut Pro. However, I can open them in Adobe Photoshop 7 (for MAC), and then resave them as JPEG's or PDF's, and once I've done that, they import fine for me into Final Cut Pro. Since I'm working with several hundred images at a time, (and do this process alot) and have to convert them all, I've tried automating the process by creating a BATCH or DROPLET Instruction. I tell the dialog boxes what folder I want the images to be taken from, I tell it I want to turn them into PDF's with the same names, and I tell it what folder I want those new files saved to.
The problem is that when using either a BATCH or DROPLET, Photoshop opens all the images, but it won't go any further. It prompts ME to SAVE the photo's and pick the size compression and tell it what folder to save them to even though I've already made those selections in the automation process.
While it saves me a little time to have it open all the files for me, I thought
the idea of a BATCH or DROPLET was that you didn't have to actually TOUCH or Manually save anything,....that photoshop does the whole process for you.
Photoshop :: Saving Files In JPEG In Batches
Jan 16, 2004I try to save a few files in JPEG format in batches:
1. First, under Action, I open a file and include what functions to perform
2. then I save it in JPEG format which prompted a dialog box that asked for quality.
3. after I'm done creating the Action, I run the Action in batch mode.
But for each file, Photoshop generates that JPEG save dialog box for quality. this means that I have to click or press enter for every single file even while Photoshop is processing in batches!
So how do I supress that dialog box when running in batch mode and let photoshop save everything in JPEG format without pausing and at the quality I have determined when I created the Action?
I'm using Photoshop 7.01 on windows
Photoshop :: Shrinking File Size In Batches
Dec 12, 2008I've got a number of images that are 300dpi which I need to save for the web. I've been able to take one image and change the dpi to 72 and then go into Image Ready and shrink the size some more. I've tried to automate the process but after I run a batch I actually get the files back double their original size. What might I be doing wrong here? I'm using PS 7 and, while in no way a professional, I can get by... except for this bit obviously! So, what's the best way to automate the process of turning my files into nice, lean web-ready images?

Feb 23, 2011How to edit a whole group of shots in CS4. Like 300 surfing shots at basically the same aperture, lens magnification...time of day. Of course, toss a bunch that have no punch...leaves several hundred files to be edited. At 3 frames per second, I am overwhelmed (but secretly loving my new Canon sports camera)
Most of my shots the surfer is "dead center" and in focus..but too far removed at 400mm even! So I painstakingly crop it up a bunch...surfers like to see their faces....is that me? or is that Kelly Slater! Then a "ton" of adjustments to each file....but....mostly the exact same edits?
Here is an edited surf photo...done, one by one.

Dec 7, 2012I have many photo albums on Facebook. Using Organizer 10/Share I was able to upload several "batches" of pics to an existing album even though the dropdown list of existing albums only showed 2, one of them was the one I wanted so all was good. Then on about the fifth load the target FB album disappeared from the list leaving only the FB Wall album. Seems like a bug to me.

Nov 21, 2013I'm converting batches of my EPS files to JPEG. I've created a keyboard shortcut, but still need to select JPEG in Format (default is PNG), then select 'Use artboards', then image type, resolution, etc.
Although it's quite quick to do, it's very repetitive and I don't want to miss a step if I lose concentration.
I've seen a script that does a batch conversion, but that has to have the file type that you're opening and the location. I still want to open each file individually and use a keyboard shortcut to execute that script.
If no ready script, how can I change the default from PNG to JPEG?

Lightroom :: 4 - Soft Proofing Batches Of Unique Pictures?
May 27, 2013I was wondering if there is a way to do batch processing for soft proofing different pictures similar to the sync functionality? I created a customer user preset however it seems to copy over the existing settings vs updating the +/-'s in the different areas. For example, I have a bunch of photos from different scenarios, events, actions, times, etc..
When I am soft proofing to a custom profile, looks like I just need to apply a few universal tweaks to WB (+100), exposure (+20, maybe +30), contrast (+10), blacks (-10), and clarity (+10, maybe +15) to get the soft proof copy to look like the master copy. Then I can quickly go through the soft proof copies and check.
Also, is there a way of creating a soft proof copy of all the pics in the develop module at once?
Lightroom :: How To Find Files From Older Import Batches
Feb 15, 2013I imported some photos to develop. I did not finish developing them and imported another set. Now I want to go back to that previous import to deveop and edit, but I can't find those photos. They are grayed out in the import and I can not import again, when I click on one of them it says they are already in the catalog, but I can't find them any where in light room. Previous import does not work.

One of the smallest but most usable features of previous versions of photoshop has been that when I go to File > open and browse to one of my thousands of image folders Photoshop will display a small thumbnail of whichever image I have selected.
This is essential so that I can tell which images I need rather than by file name which is useless.I'm probably just being thick and just need to find where to switch on the thumbnail preview.
Photoshop :: Thumbnail Previews In OSX?
Oct 25, 2013I'm having alot of issues with thumbnail previews in Finder ever since I updated to Mavericks. Basically, any TIF-files that include layer masks won't show a preview at all in Finder.
I just get the static TIF-file graphics, but no actual preview. I have enabled to maximise compatability in Photoshop CC, and all the files are either 16 or 18 bit files.

Feb 19, 2006I have a picture that was sent to me when the picture is actually opened the original person blacked out parts of it and they do not show but whenever it is sitting in my folder the whole picture shows up as a thumbnail. Is there anyway to remove the black layers or anything to get the whole picture to show since it is all showing as a thumbnail?

Dec 25, 2007I am resizing images for thumbnaills. They need to match existing thumbnails in a little gallery. I sized them exactly like the existing thumbnails, but the image content looks smaller. I looked at every setting I could think of and couldn't figure out how to enlarge the content of the thumbnail. I have attached both images so you can see my problem. May 16, 2013Each time I batch process thumbnails in CS6 v13.1.2x64 I've noticed that the resulting thumbnails do not match the sequence of the original photos the thumbs are batched from.
Is this a fault with CS6 or a lack of communication between my Nikon, Mac and Adobe?
The original full sized photos are JPEG fresh out of the camera and havent been preprocessed. I will add that if I do apply batch filter to the full size photos, they too are pushed out of their original numerical sequence.

If I save the same file in CS5, I get the thumbnail image icon, but with severe pixelation of the thumbnail image. It used to be I would have to periodically reboot the finder or fix permissions to resolve the latter issue, but now even that doesn't work. I'm running Mac OS 10.8.

Aug 28, 2011I'm creating a portfolio page on my website, and a while back I've seen a beautiful effect on someone else's portfolio site.
What they did was create a fairly large thumbnail image about 300 or 400px wide. And they took the home page and a details page screen grabs from their portfolio and combined 2 images into one thumbnail. The images were positioned one to the right one to the left, but angled (I can't figure out how). And one was over the other a little, but you could see the majority of each image, and there was a cool shadow effect behind both. I really wish I could create something like that myself, but no matter what I try I can't get anything that looks like what I remember seeing. I tried perspective, distort, skew, etc. Just can't get it to look cool and keep the images legible.
Photoshop :: Recovering Image From Thumbnail
Jul 13, 2008A rather important piece of digital art from has gone missing, but as it's a couple years old it's unlikely to still be sitting somewhere in the hard drive's free memory. However, I did find an 'Adobe Photoshop file browser metadata cache file' and an 'Adobe Photoshop file browser thumbnail cache file' that have names similar to the original piece of art.
However, can't see a way of opening them. Photoshop tells me it's 'not the right kind of document', and I don't know what other application to use.
So, I ask of you all, do I have any hope of recovering the image?

May 6, 2009When looking at the list of files in My Pictures, is there a way to get the MPG files to show a graphic or snapshot from the movie, similar to the way a thumbnail works with jpg files? They currently display an image of film with "MPEG" at the bottom.
