I imported some photos to develop. I did not finish developing them and imported another set. Now I want to go back to that previous import to deveop and edit, but I can't find those photos. They are grayed out in the import and I can not import again, when I click on one of them it says they are already in the catalog, but I can't find them any where in light room. Previous import does not work.
View 1 RepliesI have been using Lightroom 5 happily for several months with no problems. A few weeks ago, I started getting the message at the import screen that previews were not available. This was OK, I just guessed on which I needed to import.
Starting last week, I cannot import files from either of my cameras. On the import screen, when it is trying to find files, it just hangs up. Have let it go for half an hour and nothing. When I click "cancel", I get the message that Lightroom has encountered a problem and needs to close.
I have tried purging the cache, though I'm not sure it is working, as I never get any message that the purge has been successfully completed. I click the button and nothing happens. I have tried starting a new catalog in case my other one is too big (approx 14,000 images), but same problem. I have tried installing the beta 5.2 version, still same problem.
I would love a solution to this, as for now I am having to import the NEF files by just dragging them to a folder on my desktop, and then importing the files from that folder into lightroom (when importing from folders on the computer, I have no problems).
When I import CR2 files (Canon RAW) that have XMP files alongside them into my Lightroom 4 catalog, Lightroom correctly reads image adjustments from XMP files and assigns them as Develop settings for the newly imported photos. This is how I expected it to be. Lightroom assigns older process version to these files, as it should be.
One quick question I have though: once I imported all these CR2 files into my collection, is it safe to delete all those XMP sidecar files immediately? I assume that Lightroom stores all Develop settings in the catalog file at the moment of the import and that XMP sidecars are no longer necessary. Is that correct? Or do I have to enter the Develop mode with each imported file first, before deleting the XMP in order to make old settings to "stick"?
As I have done for years I shoot in RAW and use Nikon transfer to load images from the card to my laptop and external drive. AFter I sort the images by subject I import them to Lightroom for the final touches. Not so with Lightroom 4.2 and Nikon D600..Adobe says if yousue transfer than 4.2 will not recognize the files and too bad ...as a company they are going downhill..I hope they correct the problem so I can import the 1500 images into Lightroom for final conversions.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have tried a couple of things to try and get Premiere to see the AVCHD files. I have copied the all the files over from the Canon Xa10 individually and the "Private" folder and then tried to import. Still couldnt see them. It seems like its not a supported file type. PP should be able to do this shouldn't it?

I try to save a few files in JPEG format in batches:
1. First, under Action, I open a file and include what functions to perform
2. then I save it in JPEG format which prompted a dialog box that asked for quality.
3. after I'm done creating the Action, I run the Action in batch mode.
But for each file, Photoshop generates that JPEG save dialog box for quality. this means that I have to click or press enter for every single file even while Photoshop is processing in batches!
So how do I supress that dialog box when running in batch mode and let photoshop save everything in JPEG format without pausing and at the quality I have determined when I created the Action?

I'm converting batches of my EPS files to JPEG. I've created a keyboard shortcut, but still need to select JPEG in Format (default is PNG), then select 'Use artboards', then image type, resolution, etc.
Although it's quite quick to do, it's very repetitive and I don't want to miss a step if I lose concentration.
I've seen a script that does a batch conversion, but that has to have the file type that you're opening and the location. I still want to open each file individually and use a keyboard shortcut to execute that script.
If no ready script, how can I change the default from PNG to JPEG?
I installed Photoshop Elements 11 today on to my new Windows 7 computer, but have been unable to access the photos, categories and slideshows which I had created in Elements 5 on my old Windows XP computer. The Elements 5 ones were copied from my old hard disk to the new one - without using any version of Photoshop in the copying process. I believe that all the Adobe folders and files were copied, but I cannot work out which folder contains the photos.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if there is a way to do batch processing for soft proofing different pictures similar to the sync functionality? I created a customer user preset however it seems to copy over the existing settings vs updating the +/-'s in the different areas. For example, I have a bunch of photos from different scenarios, events, actions, times, etc..
When I am soft proofing to a custom profile, looks like I just need to apply a few universal tweaks to WB (+100), exposure (+20, maybe +30), contrast (+10), blacks (-10), and clarity (+10, maybe +15) to get the soft proof copy to look like the master copy. Then I can quickly go through the soft proof copies and check.
Also, is there a way of creating a soft proof copy of all the pics in the develop module at once?
Just wondering how far back the latest version of CorelDraw will import the CDR files?

I don't use smart collections much. Could that be set up as an attribute? Like the way Itunes has last played in decending order.
I'll have to scroll through 5,000 images now to find it and export to PS for some final work.

What I did was change the folder names in Picasa (and found out I cannot undo folder name changes). I can locate the files in LR3 by keyword, but dont know how to reassosiate the files to their new folder.
Whats the the best way for LR3 to find these files again? I dont want to have to delete and reload the images, but will if its easier
Yesterday I installed LR 4 Beta. I had a folder with 300 images in it on LR 3, obviously all files had names. I imported these photos into LR4 to work with LR4 and they were renamed in the process. Now in my LR3 folder, all the files still have there old names and the "missing photo ?" and I assume that's because the name has been changed and LR3 can't find them.

Recently, whenever I am uploading my photos to Lightroom 5, my photos are changing to .dng files rather than staying in the NEF file. When I go and look back at my previous imports from the past few times, they are in NEF and NOT in .dng. I never use DNG, and am not aware of, and after a lot of searching, cannot find anywhere in the LR4.3 preferences at which I specified DNG conversion. In the Auto0Import dialog there is a File-handling tab that offers one choice: how to spell the dng suffix. The files I want to import will come in as CR2., and testing this with other folder destinations and with Canon's EOS Utility prove that the camera is "sending" CR2 files.
I'm trying out the new Sigma 24-105 DG lens with my 5D M II. The lens profile is not yet in the list of Sigma lenses. I checked and my LR is up to date with the latest version 5.3. Is there a way to find the lens profile to import for LR lens correction function? Or do I just need to wait until LR updates for new lenses?
