My Lightroom catalogue crashed, and i started a too old backup version. By importing new files, lightroom does show the older files in the importfield, are they still there? I desperately need them back,
View 4 RepliesWhen I import CR2 files (Canon RAW) that have XMP files alongside them into my Lightroom 4 catalog, Lightroom correctly reads image adjustments from XMP files and assigns them as Develop settings for the newly imported photos. This is how I expected it to be. Lightroom assigns older process version to these files, as it should be.
One quick question I have though: once I imported all these CR2 files into my collection, is it safe to delete all those XMP sidecar files immediately? I assume that Lightroom stores all Develop settings in the catalog file at the moment of the import and that XMP sidecars are no longer necessary. Is that correct? Or do I have to enter the Develop mode with each imported file first, before deleting the XMP in order to make old settings to "stick"?
is there anyway of opening old files from previous edition of autocad on the newer version, have a file from a few years ago and it wont open now on the new one?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI installed Photoshop Elements 11 today on to my new Windows 7 computer, but have been unable to access the photos, categories and slideshows which I had created in Elements 5 on my old Windows XP computer. The Elements 5 ones were copied from my old hard disk to the new one - without using any version of Photoshop in the copying process. I believe that all the Adobe folders and files were copied, but I cannot work out which folder contains the photos.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently discovered a 'change' to my 'Source Panel' window when I try to Import new files from my CF cards. I have 4.2 installed. All that is available on the left hand side of this window is the 'Other Source' pull down box and never any file source like my hard drives or CF cards or anything that used to be there prior to about a month ago. I reinstalled this program twice without any changes. Have I shut something off by accident? My buddy has the same program and he cannot find any reason my should be any different than his but it is.

Set-up: Leica M9-P (firmware v1.194); Summicron f2 50mm; LR 5.2;
Image capture WB value set to 5000k; ISO 160; DNG file capture
Everytime I import the DNG files it sets the WB value to the last value I had the slider set to and not the value I have set on my camera.
I have tried reloading the firmware on the camera just in case it wasn't saving the value in the file but this has not worked.
I use LR on two separate MacBook Pro laptops using a common catalogue and image library stored on a single external hard drive. The problem occurs on both computers.
It's hugely frustrating. I want to be able to adjust the value on the camera depending on the local light situation at the time of taking the shot and have this setting transfer into LR5.2 at time of imort. At the moment I am having to keep a manual note of the image number and setting so that I can recreate it in LR once imported.
i have files generated with photoshop 2.0 running on Mac OS 6.0.4. How can I use these files with a more recent version of Photoshop?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to a new Macbook Pro and have been trying to transfer over my old LR4 files to the new computer. I reinstalled LR4 on the new Mac and imported my old photo Catalouge from my External Drive. But when the folders, and pictures appear in the new LR none of my edits/presets/or information is shown. They are just the RAW files.
This cataloug was the same cataloug that I was using on my old computer. On that computer all edits and information came up correctly.
All of the pictures that I import from my blackberry show as a broken file in my elements organiser. They apear normal in my hard drive but I cannot view them in Adobe Elements.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI cannot see any GPS data on my jpeg photos in Lightroom 4.4 (was the same in 4.3), I add the data on the computor using JOBO photoGPS softwear, lightroom works fine with RAW files GPS data but not that added to jpegs, post capture. I shoot Raw files and jpegs with both a Pentax K-x and a Sigma DP1 then add GPS data recorded at the time with a JOBO GPS unit attached to the hotshoe.
If I use my new Pentax K-30 with a Pentax GPS unit which adds GPS data in camera, there is no problem, Lightroom shows this, RAW and jpegs.
The JOBO unit software give better additional metadata information, addresses etc than the Pentax unit, though it does take more work to use.This issue effects uploads to flickr as there is no GPS location then shown there.
I use Windows7.
My catalog backed up to DropBox and all my photos are now shown as offline.

This would be very tedious to do manually. My next idea is to re-import them with MOVE option, but I would lose all the editing. Is there any way to re-import these while preserving the edit steps?
I imported some photos to develop. I did not finish developing them and imported another set. Now I want to go back to that previous import to deveop and edit, but I can't find those photos. They are grayed out in the import and I can not import again, when I click on one of them it says they are already in the catalog, but I can't find them any where in light room. Previous import does not work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 28,485 photos in one Lightroom catalogue, but it appears to have lost them all. Everything has a question mark on it. I have not moved the photos and what it tells me is the last location is still the location - nothing has changed. If I go through the 'find missiong photos' routine, it will find them again. However, it only does that one folder at a time, even with the 'find nearby photos' ticked, and there are hundreds of folders. I can't go through all of them manually, and don't understand why it has done this when I haven't moved any of the photos. I have other catalogues that are working normally, and I don't want to start again because of losing all my selections and collections.

What can I do to save my photoshop file as an older version? I know that you can do it with illustrator.

As I have done for years I shoot in RAW and use Nikon transfer to load images from the card to my laptop and external drive. AFter I sort the images by subject I import them to Lightroom for the final touches. Not so with Lightroom 4.2 and Nikon D600..Adobe says if yousue transfer than 4.2 will not recognize the files and too bad ...as a company they are going downhill..I hope they correct the problem so I can import the 1500 images into Lightroom for final conversions.

I've been importing photos etc. Anyway, on the left hand navigation pane there was always my photos (which I imported and were stored on my hard drive) and also collections. Easy access. These have all disappeared! I'm in a panic and have been searching for hours and hours. The left hand pane now has snapshot, history, presets etc OR cataloug and collections, but none of mine are there. have i mis hit something OR have they gone for some reason?

I am currently using autocad 2002. An engineering firm has sent me a dwg file that was created using a much newer version of autocad. I asked them to save it back to version 2000, so I can open it. Well, I can open the file, but I'm getting this command "ARXERROR: eNotThatKindOfClass.. whenever I do a basic command??
