Photos in folder on hard drive (XP) can't import because 'Photo Already Imported'. I can't find it on LR Catalog (All Photographs), Collections or Folders Local Disk (C:) in LR.
View 2 Replies View RelatedBack in LR1 and LR2, when I tried to import images that were already present in the catalog, I had an option to show me / select the already imported images. This is gone in LR4. How can I find in the library the already imported images without fecthing them one by one ?
View 13 Replies View RelatedI am an old Doshead from way back in the '80's.
One thing that has concerned me and caused me a lot of headaches (and lost hair) over the last few years has been the seemingly erratic nature of file saving in Windows graphics programs.
As a Doshead I know directory structures quite well.
Yet often when I go to save a file in a desired folder they seem to get saved somewhere else and I have to run a search to find them which is a pain.
I received a nice cd from usa with loads of actions and their corresponding filters - the problem comes when I load up the action, run it and it asks for the corresponding filter -
I browse to the filter folder, choose a filter and click ok.
Photoshop then gives me the following error:
Could not place the document because PDFL initialization failed?
This message comes up when I try to import to light room. A box comes up that says "Import Results" then the error message shows with a group of file numbers that wouldn't import.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have LR loaded on my MacBook Pro and everything was alright in terms of LR operation. I use a 5D MKII camera and always shoot in RAW (CR2). I always download images from the Card to the HDD and then import it to LR. However, CR2 Raw files are not getting imported and I am getting the following error message - "The files appear to be unsupported or damaged".
I can still import other files like .tiff and .jpg files.
Lightroom 4 doesn´t show video files from my Nikon D5000.
It crashes: Load Library failed with error 126: Das angegebene Modul wurde nicht gefunden.
I have WIN7 64bit.
After importing folders into LR, are there any issues with going into those folders and moving out .png, .gif, .pdf and other files that LR does not import?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently had a number of old transparencies scanned at a local service bureau and delivered as jpegs on disc. The images import just fine into Lightroom from the disc, but when I try to rename them, I get a dialogue box telling me I can't rename them "...because they are missing or not writable." Thinking, perhaps, that Lightroom was somehow trying unsuccessfully to rename them on the source disc, I tried downloading them to my computer first, ejecting the disc, then importing them into Lightroom. Same result. What am I doing wrong? How do I rename these images?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a foler with just over 5065 images that I am trying to import, but when the imprt dialogue window comes up, it only shows 4995. Have tried unchecking the 'dont import duplicates' and have trried multiple times, but for some reason it only registers 4995 images. Where the other 75 could be hiding? all the other folders in the main folder imported fine..

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using LR 4 on a Mac.I've been an LR user for three years.I few days ago I imported 500+ images from a folder in Apple Finder into LR.The import was successful because I deleted a few photos and made adjustments to a few right after finishing the import.
Today I went back into LR to continue working on the remaining images and the folder I imported them into is not visible. When I search using a filename and Find under Library in LR, I'm told that no Photos match.Trying to re-import the images results in a message that the photos are already in LR!
I just installed Lr4 on my laptop. When I plug in my Nikon D7000 and try to import photos, I just get a message "The following files could not be imported because they could not be read". Then it lists the file names of the various files. Message displays regardless if I try .NEF or .JPEG files. The photos appear in the library module, so I know Lr is pulling them from the correct place (camera). When I plug the camera into my desktop PC where I also have Lr installed, all works fine.

I have an issue with the fact that i spend time setting up my camera for the rite white balance and exposure to get a quality image that might use some spot removal in post but thats about it, to have the images become dark, dull and lifeless in lightroom when imported. when i try to bring the color back its just not the same. why is this happening and how can i fix it. i am glad that i saved the files elsewhere first, the raw images look fine in other software its just lightroom that is doing this. here is an screen shot of the same image side by side the one on the left is raw exactly how it looks in camera with canon software and the one on the right is in lightroom. at first it looked the same but 2 seconds later it was dull and imo ugly.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI imported many files that were tiff & jpeg pairs (with the import preference box checked 'Do Not treat as seprate files when file names are the same') into LR3. Since then, i have been unable to write new metadata, such as captions, keywords, etc., to both the JPG and Tif files. LR3, and now also LR5 both only seem to want to write to the tiff files. How do i get the metadata easily saved onto the jeg files as well? (preferably without re-importing as separate files).
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to crop and straighten my 35mm slide scans. When I imported the scans the average file size was 5mb but after cropping and straightening the scans in lightroom 5 and exporting them, the average file size was 15mb! There is no increase or decrease in quality.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen working in lightroom 3.6 or 4.0 (I have both) use mostly 3.6 if you have finished working with a group of imported files and want to clean up all the libraries in the left column knowing that I would just re-import the photos if I chose to work them again from scratch, HOW DO YOU CLEAN UP the lirary. Most times I work with photos and do not need to save the library or catalog or whatever you call it that stores the settings done to a group of photos imported.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem seeing a file in LR 4.2 when it is in the folder where I want it to be.
I created a composite tiff image from two raw files that reside in two different folders. I had exported the two raw files from LR as tiffs, opened the tiffs in Photoshop CS5, then combined them into a multi-layer tiff to create a 600+MB composite file. That composite was saved in Photoshop under a new file name using "Save As" . I knew the new composite file would not be in the LR catalog until I imported it. When I imported, the image went into a new date-named folder (call it folder "A"). So far, it all made sense to me.
From this point on things got funny. Working within LR, I tried to move the uniquely named composite from folder A into the folder that one of the component files came from (call it folder "B"). The Move failed. Instead, I got an error message saying the file already existed in "B." I could not see the file in "B" using lightroom, but MS Explorer revealed that the file was indeed there. I don't understand how it got there.
Still trying to get my composite in "B" recognized by LR, I first deleted the composite from "B" using explorer, then went into LR and moved the file from "A" (where LR recognized it), into "B". Still no good. LR does not show the file in "B", yet it appears in explorer.
I suppose I could live with this composite file in its own folder, "A," but that is not really where I want it. More importantly, I don't understand why I can't see it in LR in the folder where i want it.
- Is my catalog file damaged?
-Might the XMP files have anything to do with this?
-Is the size of the file (>600MB) a factor?

Had the operating system of my Macbook cleared, then reinstalled my copy of LR3. After first import from Nikon 7000, received message that raw files of this camera are not compatible with my LR. Puzzling, for I have loaded on this computer with this copy of LR3 from this camera thousands of raw files.
View 3 Replies View RelatedHow do I stop LR4 from organizing imported files into a folder by date. Most times when I import files I have already created a folder and sub-folder structure tyat I want to use. I then right click the desired folder and choose import into this folder option. I just noticed yesterday that when I have RAW (DNG) files in my LR5.2 library, I can select the correct lens profile to apply. When I take three of those files and merge them together in Photomatix Pro they come back as a single TIFF file. Now LR only has one lens profile available, and it is the wrong one.
This is happening with my Sony NEX-7 and Tamron 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 XR DI-III VC. With the RAW files, I have a list of Tamron lenses from which to choose, and the correct one is available. For the merged TIFF file, however, only a single Tamron lens is available for selection, and it is not the lens I used.
