View 1 RepliesI'm drawing a blank here...anyway, I just got a new laptop (mac), and am loving it. I've gone and put XDP6 into fullscreen mode (by mistake) and can't figure out how to get out of it.
Of course I don't have a keypad, and I've not figured out how to customize the shortcut away from numpad 8.
For some reason while in text mode, all letters stay locked in Cap mode. My cap lock key is not on?

View 3 Replies View RelatedIn CS6, full screen mode, the image keeps moving up, down or to the side if my cursor gets too close to the edge of the screen. sometimes I'm not even at the edge of the screen but in the middle of the screen, I move the cursor right, the document goes to the left. In the old days the window stayed put unless you used the handtool to move it around. Is it possible to go back to this mode?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am unable to print from PSE11 editor. i receive an error message stating 'photoshop cannnot print this document'. I can print standard photos from the organizer but any edits I make in editor are unable to be printed. I have checked the printer, it works fine for every other application. I have uninstalled and re-installed PSE11 but still no luck. The problem appears to have started since I installed a new printer (Epson XP). Photoshop is recognising the new printer from the print screen.
I have also tried saving my works in other formats (e.g. PDF) and saved to my desktop. I can print these but the quality is quite poor.
I have two layers. Upper most with text is locked.Bottom layer is an image I have applied a transparency/gradient mask for the raster image. Now, seems my layers palette is stuck in a mode called 'Layers (Opacity Mask)'.Not seen this before, but this is CS6. How do I get out to the main, root level of the layers palette?

The 'Save Current Settings as Default' is not useful.
Any ini setting which will set the Freeform Gizmo to the default?

I just clean-installed PS CS6, previously coming from heavy PS CS4 experience. I extensively use tab to go to full screen for optimal viewing conditions, and I also used alt+key combinations to access the menus via keyboard and edit while in full screen. CS6 no longer allows me to do this. Is this a new limitation of CS6? Is there a way to make ALT+key menu access work again? since the tab fullscreen view is something I use very very often for undistracted analysis of my work.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMaybe I am just missing something but I am only able to record when I play any game when it is in a windowed mode, no matter the size, but does not record any game that is in a full screen mode. No matter if I select a specific part of the screen it or default full screen to record it will just record the background not the game. Also if I try to force the screen capture to the game specific it will try to switch to it then back to the screen capture menu with nothing recorded or changed.

I've an Intel i7 with 4 cores, 3.6 GHz and enabled Hyperthreading. Also I've 24 GB RAM. My monitor has a resultion of 2560x1400 pixel. I configured in Lightroom 5 to have a standard preview size of 2880 pixel. During the import I let Lightroom generate all preview in standard size.
So some days later I wanted to review my picture in full screen mode. At first I saw just a blur picture, after 2-3 seconds it was a little bit sharper and after additional 2 seconds it was sharp. So I've to wait 4-5 seconds per picture, before I can see a sharp image.
I've only ever used gimp sparingly and for simple stuff. I now need to set the palette of a 8-bit png to a specified palette, but I can't find any in gimp or online about how to load a palette. I need the palette to contain colors that may not be in the image if thats possible as these images are sprites of under 40 colors, but I need a full 256 color palette. Also is there any simple way to convert a string of numbers into a gimp palette? If not Ill probably just look at how they are saved and just write a simple script, but I thought i would ask.

Is there a way to have more than 12 colors contained in my color palette in GIMP?
In the image seen below, I see that it can remember 12 colors in the main palette on the left, but with the color dialog palette on the right, there seems to be no way to add or change colors there, but it has more room than for 12 colors.
Is there a plug-in that allows GIMP to remember more than 12 colors? I did a search in the plug-in registry but I didn't find one.
I've been working on scenery tiles to serve as ground textures for an X-Plane airport. To get seamless transitions between the tiles I work on four tiles at the time and subsequently copy this large image to four smaller ones. Before I started out I ensured that all images were converted to full color (millions of colors) since they came with a limited 256 color palette in the first place. Still, during some copy and paste operations I've got tiles with a drab hue. So, it evidently takes the palette of the image I paste it unto which would make perfect sense if that palette was limited. However, it shouldn't be!
I've got around the problem by pasting problem tiles unto other images or started from scratch with a white canvas. It seems that any existing palette is limited and will skew the hues of a layer being pasted unto it. I work with *.xcf, then *bmp and finally *png in case this makes a difference. So, does a "full color" *.png still have a limited palette? Further, is there a way to ensure that a selection will retain its hues beyond starting out with a global choice of millions of colors?
I have a picture of 200 or so colors. I can create a palette of it by going to indexed mode. No problem there.
My problem is when I load a different image, and if I try to recolor it to this new palette, GIMP is choosing the new colors according to the luminosity values, not what the colors actually look like.
Is there a plug-in or something that makes GIMP choose the closest-looking color?
I have an image which I want to display using only a limited set of specific colours which I have defined in a colour palette. I am aware of the colour map plugin, but from what I can gather from the documentation it simply uses each pixels luminosity as an index. I want to to map each pixel to the colour in my palette that most closely represents the original colour. How do I do this?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to make a slideshow GIF with about 12 pictures. The problem is that when I convert the image from RGB to indexed, the quality of the pictures are horrible (dithering didn't work). I tried isolating 1 picture from the other 11 layers, and converting it to indexed had great quality.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the problem is that the color palette is too generic, since the palette has to include all colors needed for all 12 pictures
According to wikipedia, the GIF "allows a separate palette of 256 colors for each frame".
Is it possible to create GIFs with separate color palettes for each frame?
is there a way to take an image opened in Gimp and display the palette of colors in the image or convert the image itself into a palette of colors that are in the image?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a great picture of Jet Jaguar. I'm interested in pixel art, so I reduced the colors to an indexed 16 colors.
I want to save the 16 colors in this pic to a palette for later, but how? I've been looking in vain through the menus for a way to save this color map as a palette. Maybe there's a script or plugin somewhere, but it is hard for me to believe there isn't a built-in way to do this.
I love single window mode in the new 2.7 series. I currently have my preferences such that the main tool palette is locked to the upper-left side of the single window.
However, I can't move it. How to replicate this on a new install (since by default the tool palette is on the upper-right and can't be moved).
I'm guessing I missed a setting / preference somewhere. How do I move the main tool palette?
