GIMP :: Multiple Character Positioning?

Jul 14, 2012

I am a graphic designer and I have used mostly PS and have just barely used GIMP for its control over polar coordinates and a few other little things so I am pretty much new to it and I am having trouble figuring out how to position things in an image and I am having a little trouble understanding the process. use the program and I came across this tut here which has each text character in a seperate layer and I need to align them, but I want to be precise. I'm sure I can do it with the guides, but the person mentions in the tutorial to use the positioning tool and after hovering over everything I didn't see anything called the positioning tool. Should I just stick with aligning them by measuring and using guides or is there a more effecient way?

GIMP :: Positioning Text Along Paths

Aug 24, 2012

I've worked out how to use paths, so I can make text appear along a curve which is great. My problem is that I have a logo and I want text curving around the top of it, and then some text curving around the bottom (curving upwards). There is more text on the top curve so it fills the entire path, but the text at the bottom is shorter and so it doesn't reach the end, it justifies to the left of the path. How do I position it so that it aligned to the centre of the path (it doesn't necessarily have to take up the entire length of the path, I just want it to be central to the logo above it.

3ds Max Animation :: How To Skin Multiple Objects For Character

Feb 1, 2012

Is it at all a good idea to go about to skin multiple objects for your character?...or is it better to make it a single mesh?

if its practicable whats are the "things to do" to go about it in the right direction. ..instanced skin modifier? OR unique skin for each objects?

does it make any difference if i attach the objects? or keeping them separate as far as instanced skin modifier is concerned? (not making single mesh by welding vertices)

specifically speaking about the character i am working on ...it has:

a. head mesh
b. a scarf mesh
c. hand mesh (till their elbows)
d. body/ trenchcoat mesh
e. trousers
f. shoes mesh
g. shoelaces and eyehole rings mesh

NOTE:
i at least need the trenchcoat to be a seperate mesh as i want to apply APEX on it later. (the APEX tut on youtube indicates the trenchcoat is a seperate mesh.)

PROBLEM:
i tried to use a instanced skin modifier, however the scarf head and trenchcoat and the head where they should be together gets messed up when i check with some basic check poses.

3ds Max Animation :: Multiple Takes For Character Different Animations?

Apr 26, 2011

I read in the 3DS Max help files that it is possible to have multiple takes on one scene. It said only a few file formats (such as FBX) support exporting of more than one take and that if exporter to another format only the currently selected take will be exported, however I have been unable to find out how to switch to another take in the first place.

I would prefer to have several takes for my character's different animations instead of putting different animations at keyframe intervals.

Photoshop :: Selecting Multiple Type Layers Causes Character Palette

Aug 15, 2012

Select one type layer, as you can see below, the character panel reflects the setting correctly:

Select TWO type layers, with the exact same character attributes.. what happens?

It should say in the image above 36px/52px, not 12.16px (.16 px? Really?) and 17.56.I haven't the foggiest idea where that even comes from.

But the result for all photoshop users is that they have to individually change all the layers individually..I was hoping character styles would work, i have yet to figure out how it even works, i've tried multiple times, it just doesn't do anything to the selected type.

Illustrator :: Maintaining Fill Colors In Character Styles Across Multiple AI Documents

Feb 17, 2013

I'm having a lot of trouble understanding how Adobe Illustrator (CS6) manages character styles imported from different ai documents. If I create all character styles in a single .ai document and only use them in in that document, everything works as expected--colors, fonts, and typography settings are maintained in the character style, and newly added text can be quickly styled with the character style.

My trouble starts when i want to re-use those character styles in a new .ai document. From the character style menu I use the option to import the character styles from another document, and they import correctly--all of the styles work and style text as expected. But then i save & close the document and re-open it to find that the character style entries are there, but the fills and strokes are all messed up--fonts, sizes, typography settings are maintained, but styles with a blue fill are suddenly filed with black, or some other color.

This happens even if the swatches associated with the character styles are imported to the new document as well. I've read that all character styles are based off of the 'normal' character style.

Photoshop :: CS5 How To Set Relative Positioning To 0

Jun 4, 2012

I've created a new smart object via copy, and then I try and position it 25 pixels below the original (i visually place the new object so the borders touch). Using the transform controls, I click the triangle, but instead of the Y position being 0, it's an arbitrary number that corresponds with the objects height. This eliminates the use of the relative positioning function, because then I'm forced to go back and do math, which I could just do with absolute positioning.

How on earth do I set the relative position of a new smart object via copy to 0, so I can simply type "25" instead of having to add? May seem easy to add, but again, each shape is getting adjusted slightly, and as such, I have to add every time, which means I have to figure out the height of the object every time, which essentially makes this option totally useless.

Photoshop :: Text Positioning

Apr 19, 2009

Being a newbie to Photoshop I have spent three days trying to track down an answer to my problem with no luck. I am attempting to create a some "embossed" text for web page buttons and each time I attempt to add a text layer to my background layer, the text seems to "glue" itself to the top edge of the text box no matter how I position it. This is not a problem with plain text, but when I add the embossing effect, several rows of pixels for the embossing go "above" the text box boundary. These pixels then disappear when I change to a different layer or try to save the image. When I am actively working in the text layer everything looks fine, but as soon as I switch out of text mode the top of the text gets chopped off. Am I missing something?

CorelDRAW X6 :: Positioning Imported Items

Jul 3, 2013

When I import items, I get a "tool tip" near the mouse stating that I can press enter to center on the page. Or I can press the Space Bar to use the original position. I have a lot of templates set up that I use to go off of, and like to use the space bar for a different quick key.

Is it possible to switch the import quick buttons around somewhere? for example: to have the enter button place the file I'm importing to the original position?

VideoStudio :: Titles Not Positioning Correctly

Mar 17, 2011

I have VideoStudio Pro X2 and the trial version of X4

I have the same problem in both versions: Titles do not position accurately and the positioning of titles varies wildly depending on output format.

Rendering to .avi seems to do the best but the output is HUGE. Whereas the .flv would me 8 _megs_ ... the .avi is 4.5 _GIGS_. Again, this happens on X2 (on Vista 64) and X4 (Windows 7 64)

How can I get the output to render EXACTLY as I see the preview screen?

It does not seem to matter if I put the titles in the title safe area ... they still move.

Is this a known issue?

AutoCAD Map 3D :: Positioning Texts From Styles

Nov 29, 2005

The goal is to prepare maps of a water supply network. The pipes are polylines with parameters on OD Tabels. On Display Manager, i'm creating a style based on text in order to display the diameter of each pipe.So far so good. The problem is to find out how to place the text entities in a more intuitive position, that is, near the middle point of the polyline, with the correct angle.

On the "Position" and "Rotation" properties of the text style, what should i define in order tho achieve this? The ".labelpt, .Center, .X1Y1..." options do not produce the desired results.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Add-in For Derived Part Positioning?

Apr 11, 2006

We have written an add-in that allows you to specify position and non-uniform scaling while creating a derived part.

[URL]

Some potential uses of this add-in include:

1.. To simulate an iFeature where you add or remove material - use Sculpt to add and Split to remove material. Unlike iFeature you could edit the source and make the changes be reflected in the derived part.

2.. To simulate an iFeature that places a sketch - useful for designing frames.

3.. To design a progressive die - you might want to place, with relative displacements, multiple parts representing different stages (or configurations) of a formed sheet metal part

4.. To realign (rotate) a part - sometimes skeletally driven parts (for example, four-bar linkage members) are not aligned with their "natural" coordinate system, causing skewed drawing views

5.. To derive a part with different scaling factors in X, Y and Z directions, which is useful in mold design

6.. To integrate two skeleton systems that do not share the same coordinate system

7.. To create scaled sketches (this should become useable after R11 SP1)

I know it is easy to tile objects using the Transformation - positioning and then click on the "relative position" and choose the direction.

But if I want to only shift it half the width to create something that may looks like bricks tiles.

One way to do it is to look up the width and height of the object, bringing up the calculator and divide it with 2 and then enter the result into the positioning manually.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Positioning Of Points On Angled Plane

Oct 18, 2011

I need to accurately position a point on an angled plane, but the question is how?

I've generated the required planes, the axis to revolve the angled plane around, and of course, the angled plane itself. (See attacment)

I now need to position the point coincident to the generated axis/plane and the angled plane. I have nothing to refer to so I can't project any geometry from any face. (The vee-shaped recess is generated after the slot is extruded and its position is the resut of the breakout against the OD).

How can I do this???
