GIMP :: Open First Image And Then Open Other Two As Layers
Jan 23, 2014I'm using Gimp 2.8.6.Try as I might, I'm still trying to figure out how to effectively 'merge' 3 shots of the same scene taken at 3 different exposures (using the exposure bracketing feature on my camera).The idea is to end up with the equivalent of an HDR image.
I assume that I open the first image and then open the other two as layers . .
GIMP :: Ability To Copy / Cut Image Or Part From One Open Image Into Another
Nov 25, 2013I have been using gimp now for about 2 months and have just upgraded my OS to Mavericks and upgraded Gimp to 2.8.8.
Upon doing this I seem to have lost the ability to copy/cut an image or part thereof from one open image into another... Example:
I have an image window open with a picture a car and I have an image window open with a race track back ground.
I want to copy the car from image 1 into image 2, but for some reason I cannot do this function anymore. When attempting it, once the item is copies to the clipboard and I then swap to the second image, when I paste as a new layer it pastes the clipboard from that image and not the image from the first window...

If all of them take into account the color (asis, without any characteristic like viscosity, nature of a paint - oily oraqueous) and the toools to apply the color (with a stiking inventivenessregarding the brushes !), I have not found any that directly simulate thebehavior of the media on which the color is applied. However, to take justthe example of the watercolor, the paper has a fundamental importance onthe effects that can be applied and on the final rendering.
Of course, with a good expertise - and dexterity - in a particularsoftware, one can, by manipulating the image, achieve a very close if notidentical result. But this is akin to a Grand Chef cooking, with secretrecipes, tricks and tips, subtle dosages...
why the medias are not implemented in the paintingsoftwares ? There is some few basic parameters as the substrate porosity,surface roughness, anisotropy of the porosity and/or roughness, inclinationof the surface of work, and if this is coupled to some parameters of theink, like viscosity, attractive or repulsive power of the ink, you can workreally more intuitively.

1) I have been searching for a way to edit my color pallette indexes in real time (preferrably through a RGB/HSV slider). Is this currently possible through any means?
2) Is there a way to cause a pixelated effect with the gradient tool (or any tool)? This can be used for quick background effects, speeding up a process for a piece.
3) Turn off the dimming from the navigator window when I zoom in.
4) (See attachment) Adjust the status bar to be more useful than just simple tips. I also don't need a scaling indicator if the navigator window forces me to have one. It would be nice to turn this off for the navigator window as well. Being able to maximize the space for that window would be ideal for more detailed previews.
I already use GIMP for stilled pixel art, and would like to maximize my speed and efficiency doing so.
GIMP :: How To Get Images To Print Out Based On Real Life Inches
Oct 14, 2013I am completely new to gimp I have an image that is 8in x 6in. It was previously edited in Photoshop on another computer thats how I know the actual size. When I load it into gimp, the image size is in real life the same, I can take a ruler to the screen and it measures 8in x 6in at 100% zoom. However, according to gimps rulers, the image is over 11in x 7in. So I measured what is one inch on gimps ruler and it is actually 3/8in in real life. When I create a grid to overlay the image, through Filters-Render-Patterns-Grid and I make the settings to be 1in x 1in, it too shows up based on gimps ruler measurements. I have the ruler set up in inches but a gimp inch is not a real life inch, and this shows up when I scale the image to 8in x 6in it actually makes the image 5 1/2in x 3 3/4in in real life when printed out. How can I get gimp to display a real life inch and how can I get my images to print out based on real life inches.

Another way I like to open is to press 'Ctrl O' and then paste the path of a folder and press return This then takes me to that folder and shows me all images inside(The same behaviour will work with any other program on WIndows) With Gimp, this is not possible .There is no path displayed when you first click Ctrl O.I've found how to get the path: click on one of the locations on the left pane and then click on the 'Type Name Field' icon - this then gives you a location in which you can type the path
it only takes a second or two to do, but it would be nice if we just could past the path name or start typing the path name after pressing 'Ctrl O' - like ALL other Windows programs!
GIMP :: How To Pass Info To Cage Tool And Make It Real Rectangle
Mar 21, 2013The new cage tool is fantastic to solve the following problem.
I take a photo with the smartphone of a book page. I need two hands for this. The page does not lies flat (see [URL].... because no more hands available to keep the page flat (and no glass sheet at hand...). Using the cage tool with 3 nodes above and 3 below the text produces an acceptable result see [URL]....
Question: Is there any better method? Any GIMP plugin or even Android app to solve this problem?
I can trace the deformed rectangle that enclose the page text, but then I don't know how to pass this info to the cage tool and ask to make it a real rectangle.

Apr 5, 2012I am trying to open an .AI file, and am having almost success. Instead of loading the whole image, it cuts off about 50% of the image, leaving just the center. I altered the rendering width and height in the Import from PostScript window and it successfully extended the image to include the right side, but the left is still truncated. How can I get this whole image to open?
I can resort to just mirroring the left and right sides to fill in the blanks, but I would really rather not do that if it is possible.
I am running Windows 7 64-bit, with Gimp ver 2.6.11

I have been working on an image file for several hours now, and as a result, there were MANY files open (probably over 30).
I attempted to save the file, and recieved the following error message:
"Could not read the contents of [folder name] Too many open files"
I then closed each of the open files except the file I was trying to save, but got the same results.
The same error message pops up when I try to open a file as well.
