CorelDRAW X6 :: Power Clip - Zoom To Objects And Guides Visibility
Aug 21, 2012
I am working on a photo layout of new students. This year I'm using X6 and am having some, uh, issues.
I'm using last year’s file (X3), and open it in X6. I click on an old photo and edit with PowerClip, instead of first editing several photos in Photo-Paint. I just drag and drop the new photo into the PowerClip and resize/resample it there. Next, I hold down the Shift key, click on the original photo, press C then E, and the two images are on top of each other. In X3 (and for as long as I can remember using PowerClip), I press F4 to zoom to objects (i.e. the two photos). I can then make any minor adjustments to fit inside my rectangle and delete the old photo before finishing my editing.
Upon pressing F4 in X6, however, it zooms to the entire page’s objects instead of the two selected photos. Is this by design? I now have to click on F2 for the magnify tool, and then click 'n' drag my mouse around the photos in order to get the same thing that took only one key stroke in X3.
Regarding those minor adjustments, the effect I want is to get all of the student heads about the same size: lining up the tops, chins, and eyeballs. In X3 while editing in PowerClip, these guides are visible; I can adjust the size and/or nudge to get things exactly where I want them.
It's different in X6: I can’t see the guidelines! They are BEHIND the PowerClip's photo and useless! If you switch to outline mode you can almost see them (along with the ghost of a photo), but then you have to switch to outline mode and if you don't switch back before getting out of the PowerClip, the photo doesn't show up. And it’s not a stacking order thing in the layers either: it does not matter where the guides layer is relative to my photo layer. Order is irrelevant.
So in X6, in order to use the guides layer I have to edit in the PowerClip, right click > finish editing, assess where I need to resize and/or nudge, then get back in and edit the PowerClip. Repeat until I get the look I want. Or just get it done in X3.
When I have the design ready and it's just busy work, I like to see how much I can do with keystrokes and not touch the mouse. I am so glad I still have X3 loaded on my machine. I want to get these two composites clipped and done. X6 is just not the same.
I am completely baffled by what is happening to my text. I am using a Windows 7, 64 bit computer and CorelDraw X6, and am trying to create a 3" round button graphic. About two weeks ago, I created a photo button and wanted to put white text on top of the button. This worked fine, and I sent the proof to the client.
They wanted to change the text and so I went in to change the text to what they wanted. That's when things went weird... Now, when I retype the text to insert it on the round path, I position it and then when I click off the text, the text is no longer white, but rather it has an orange outline and no fill!
I look at the color boxes and yes, the fill is white with no outline. I am no expert by far, but have been using Corel for many years. I do notice that whenever Windows does their little "updates" my computer gets wonky and they did about two of those updates in the last two weeks.
Today, I did a system restore back to 9/12/12, but it is still happening.
I have Corel Draw 12 on one computer and Corel 5 on my lap top - After following the simple video instructions to place a background image ( imported photo - jpg or tiff) into a set text the message box ...The object you selected is invalid - do you wish to try again pops up.
I have the Corel Draw X5 and I can not power clip a picture. I clicked on the bezier tool and traced the image. I went to power clip and when I clicked on the line I just made with the black arrow it says , the object I selected is invalid.
I often need to move (a group of) objects on a page, but with those objects I also need to move the guidelines that belong to this object. Is there a way I can lock guidelines to an object so that if I move the object, these guidelines move with it?
Draw a rectangle to allign with ellipse's outer dimension by Alignment Guides (not by Align and Distribute command).
Now the aligned side of the Rectangle must be tangent to the ellipse BUT it's not! To verify, try to search an intersection point. Draw a Guideline and snap it to the rectangle's aligned side. It must be intersection point between Guideline and Ellipse but there isn't...
In AI, smart guides indicated "intersection" when I am drawing a path or moving an object to align to the intersection of two guides, when I release the mouse, the object I am moving/drawings jumps slightly off the intended alignment intersection. If I continue to try to move it to align, it jumps to the other side or back to where it was but will mot match the intersection.
I have a number of vertical and horizontal guides to be placed, at different points. Is there a better way of placement rather than zooming up on the ruler area, watching the Nav coordinates and dragging and dropping? I'm really looking for a method which will I can key in the actual placement coordinates in some way, and the guide will jump to this point?
I'm having a lively discussion within my department over the use of Power-Clips within multi-page files. We are working with X3 on systems running Win 7. Some believe that files containing images that have been placed in containers become corrupt, leading to exceptionally slow file-open and PDF-publishing times (up to 5 minutes). Is this a culprit?
Do they always need to be Converted to Bitmap after clipping?
I hope I can get this explained where it can be understood. I create and box with an outline of 4pt's. Then I want to snap the outline to the very edge of the outline and the guide, but it does not work this way. when the box snapped to the guide it goes to the middle of the outline. How to get this corrected or changed?
X4 user here that upgraded to X6 a few weeks ago. One thing that's blowing my gord is having my dimensions "lock" to guidelines and/or objects -- My dimensions aren't locked in the classic sense, i understand how to lock a dimension in corel. What i mean every time i create a dimension with master guides, and then try to move my guides, my dimension moves with it.
The worst of it is that i'm mostly getting them linked to master guidelines, so when i create a new page, say page 2, and want to move a master guide, i go back to page 1, and it has messed up all my dimensions.
And no, i do not want to break my dimension apart, I need it to stay as a working dimension!
Why the multileader on the left is not visible in the viewport while it's exploded twin is? There are no layers frozen in viewport, and I can't see any variables under properties that would affect visibility. It's part of a file from a subcontractor. I don't know how it was authored. I'm using LT 2012.
I've created a family for an exterior canopy system that has many variations (see attachment). It works for all options except the final request from the intended users. When the canopy is very short, the interior outriggers do not need cable tiebacks to the exterior wall.
Currently, the outrigger family, which is nested and arrayed in the host family, is composed of multiple objects, four of which comprise the cable support that needs to be able to be turned off, and one that is the outrigger that is always visible. I've tried several ways of getting the cable assembly to turn off while leaving the outrigger visible, but all without success. I've tried editing the array and mapping the cable assembly components' visibility parameter to a Cable Option Yes/No parameter. I've tried making the cable assembly its own family and nesting that first in the outrigger family and then mapping its arrayed instance to a Cable Option parameter. I've tried various combinations of Instance versus type parameters in both the Outrigger and host Canopy families, all to no avail.
Given the way the family is now designed, can this be done or must the cable assembly be its own family and arrayed separately? Note that there are parameters to control the cable assembly size.
I have a blown out detail on one of my Inventor drawings, I would like to toggle the visibility of some parts in this detail view however when I RHMB these under the browser I can't turn off the visibility
Autodesk Inventor Professional 2013 SP2 64-Bit Edition Windows 7 HP Z400, Intel Xeon W3550 3.07GHz 12.0GB RAM, ATI FirePro V4800 (FireGL)
I'm working with objects big from 10 to 100 centimeters. When i use ctrl+alt+mmb to zoom, or the magnifying glass, it's too sensitive and hard to zoom in/out. How to solve this?
With Visibility States there appears to be only 4 options:
Hide for current state.Show for current state.Hide for all statesShow for all states.
I need a 5th option... Do not change visibility when this state is set current.
So, in other words, I'd like to turn objects on or off independently from each other... so lets say I have two sets of objects... I want to toggle on only the 3rd item in set A and only the 5th item set B... but each set would function separately from the other set.
I have a problem. When zooming, 3D shaded objects fade away (everything except 2D Wireframe) and it is almost impossible to continue work (see attachment no1). If I manage to draw something on such a faded object (eg, a circle on the side of the box), only part of the screen / object has normal visibility (see attachment no2). Re zooming again cause fading.
Unwanted objects showing through your printed output (and print preview), but not showing up in the paperspace display, when using 3dclip in Acad 2011 (mechanical) ?
I'm trying to set up a script that will grab a group of objects and turn them into a compound path, then apply a clipping mask to the compound path and the next group in the layer.
I'm new to After Effects and struggling just a bit. I tried searching this forum but found no obvious reference to my question. I have figured out how 3d Tracking works for a single object, but don't know how to handle multiple tracked objects on the same video clip. How do I go about tracking more than one object or Text Object in the same clip?
I have a block which I want 2 visibility states. VS1 and VS2 share some objects and not others. I have a linear parameter in each which I want to do a stretch action on. The stretch action in each visibility state acts upon entities both shared and unshared between VS1 and VS2. This doesn't seem to work..
