Sep 27, 2012I am completely baffled by what is happening to my text. I am using a Windows 7, 64 bit computer and CorelDraw X6, and am trying to create a 3" round button graphic. About two weeks ago, I created a photo button and wanted to put white text on top of the button. This worked fine, and I sent the proof to the client.
They wanted to change the text and so I went in to change the text to what they wanted. That's when things went weird... Now, when I retype the text to insert it on the round path, I position it and then when I click off the text, the text is no longer white, but rather it has an orange outline and no fill!
I look at the color boxes and yes, the fill is white with no outline. I am no expert by far, but have been using Corel for many years. I do notice that whenever Windows does their little "updates" my computer gets wonky and they did about two of those updates in the last two weeks.
Today, I did a system restore back to 9/12/12, but it is still happening.
CorelDRAW X6 :: Power Clip - Zoom To Objects And Guides Visibility
Aug 21, 2012I am working on a photo layout of new students. This year I'm using X6 and am having some, uh, issues.
I'm using last year’s file (X3), and open it in X6. I click on an old photo and edit with PowerClip, instead of first editing several photos in Photo-Paint. I just drag and drop the new photo into the PowerClip and resize/resample it there. Next, I hold down the Shift key, click on the original photo, press C then E, and the two images are on top of each other. In X3 (and for as long as I can remember using PowerClip), I press F4 to zoom to objects (i.e. the two photos). I can then make any minor adjustments to fit inside my rectangle and delete the old photo before finishing my editing.
Upon pressing F4 in X6, however, it zooms to the entire page’s objects instead of the two selected photos. Is this by design? I now have to click on F2 for the magnify tool, and then click 'n' drag my mouse around the photos in order to get the same thing that took only one key stroke in X3.
Regarding those minor adjustments, the effect I want is to get all of the student heads about the same size: lining up the tops, chins, and eyeballs. In X3 while editing in PowerClip, these guides are visible; I can adjust the size and/or nudge to get things exactly where I want them.
It's different in X6: I can’t see the guidelines! They are BEHIND the PowerClip's photo and useless! If you switch to outline mode you can almost see them (along with the ghost of a photo), but then you have to switch to outline mode and if you don't switch back before getting out of the PowerClip, the photo doesn't show up. And it’s not a stacking order thing in the layers either: it does not matter where the guides layer is relative to my photo layer. Order is irrelevant.
So in X6, in order to use the guides layer I have to edit in the PowerClip, right click > finish editing, assess where I need to resize and/or nudge, then get back in and edit the PowerClip. Repeat until I get the look I want. Or just get it done in X3.
When I have the design ready and it's just busy work, I like to see how much I can do with keystrokes and not touch the mouse. I am so glad I still have X3 loaded on my machine. I want to get these two composites clipped and done. X6 is just not the same.

My symbol manager doesn't work in CorelDRAW X5.
I open the symbol manager and click on local or network symbols, add library and go to c: users/public/ public documents/ Corel/ CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5/ extras/ content/ clipart and click on any of the folders or files and then click on "ok" and I get absolutely nothing.
Nothing appears in the symbol preview at anytime. I think I am doing this according to the instructions. I know the clip art is there because I can navigate to it through windows and open them.
I uninstalled, re-installed, and updated it.

Jan 4, 2013So for the first time in a very long time, I've found a reason to tap into the clip art collection that comes with Draw. Unlike the old days when a big, bound, full color book used to come with the clip art to identify quickly which specific assets I'd like to use I can't seem to figure out a way to quickly browse the collection without dropping the file into a document, then either keeping it on the page or deleting and moving to the next. I also don't seem to have the ability to turn on file thumbnails in windows explorer on Win7 64-bit (couldn't find a support article that fixed this either)

Sep 22, 2011I saved up for several months to buy a full version to replace my student version, however now I have the full version it seems to lack a feature that is vital to the work I am creating.
in student I can right click add node to existing line and right click add a second node to the same line then right click anywhere on the segment and right click delete.......... I can't do this in the full version as delete is grayed out.
I have to repeat step one and two and then right click on each new node and break apart THEN zoom in so I can see the node close up and click on it to delete the segment.....could this really be correct? I have saved and waited so long to get the full version and now it will take me 5 steps to do what only took 3 in the student version....I need this to be simple as this is what I do all day so I can create designs to be laser cut... I need a method to delete segments so I can join others in very very complex organic shapes.

Oct 3, 2013I recently had to buy a new computer and re-install CorelDraw X5. I've been using the software for about 3 years now to run a laser engraver, so I'm not new to dealing with vectors. For some reason though when I draw something like a square, click "convert to curves", then right click the segment I was to delete, the delete option is grayed out and the only thing I can do is add a node. I'm not too sure what I'm doing wrong or if it's a setting somewhere they didn't get checked off when I installed the software.

Oct 24, 2012A customer brought me some DWG plans, five files' worth. He wants pricing on cutting it out of wood. The cutting part won't take long, but fixing the file will. I could see that there were multiple lines because some lines were thicker.When I select one of the thicker lines and delete it, it's gone. So I knew there wasn't a second line below it. Then I tried Ctrl-K, to break apart the curve. Wow, some of the lines had 23 copies! So I would hold Ctrl, de-select one of the lines, then hit the Delete key to erase the other 22. This will take a lot of time to clean up like this. Do you know of an easier way to remove these excess curves?

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X6 :: Macro Doesn't Seem To Work
Apr 6, 2012I have been upgrading to X6 from X5. I wanted to install a CorelDRAW macro called "Function Plotter", written by Alex Vakulenko, into X6. When upgrading from X4 to X5 I just manually placed a certain file (Plotter14.gms) into the Draw GMS folder in the program directory. Then back in CorelDRAW X5 I choose Tools > Options > Customization > Commands in order to place an icon in the toolbar, making access to the macro. It worked back then. However when I try the same procedure in X6 it doesn't work. I can see the file under "Commands" and place an icon, but nothing happens when I press the button. Maybe it has something to do with 64 bit, which from what I can see in this Forum causes a lot of trouble (scanner drivers, plugins, etc)?
This macro is extremely important for me. I have tried contacting Alex, but with no success so far. In the meanwhile I need to install X5 again..

Here are the steps to reproduce:
Create a new image and select, say, 5 frames for the image. Add some imagery to each of the frames (and don't forget to flatten the object hierarchy as PhotoPAINT doesn't deal with graphic objects for animated images.) Open the Film tool window and hit the [Play] button. Result: The image does not get animated.
