AutoCAD 2010 :: Group Selection Set Unable To Select Individual Elements Within Group
Mar 19, 2013One of my designers running 2012 AutoCAD and 2012 CADWorx, can no longer select individual parts of a GROUP by shift selecting the unwanted elements.
I have tried to modify..
Pickadd
Group
PickStyle
PickAuto
PickDrag
but to no success.
Also fiddled with her Options file, still nothing+

Aug 24, 2011I find it extremely annoying to have to Ungroup named groups and then regroup and rename them in order to do a multiple selection of group members. I find I'm constantly ungrouping and regrouping in order to select/edit.
Note that the multiple items are often not the same type of object (e.g., text, line, shape, etc.).
AutoCAD 2010 :: Multiple Grip Selection Not Working When Pan Or Zoom During Selection
Jul 12, 2011When I select a hatch or polyline or any object with grips for that matter, and hold down shift to select multiple grips on the object or objects and then press my middle mouse button to pan or scroll it to zoom, the grips that I have selected de-select, meaning I have to set up the view so that all the grips I want to move are visible before selecting them.
This is only happening on some drawings (although it is most of them) and only when I use 2012 not 2011. Which system variable it is that has gone screwy that I need to reset? or is it something else?
Revit :: Model Group Selection Not Available In View?
May 3, 2013I have an issue with a view. I am unable to select my model groups with in a specific view. When I go to select a group all that is selected is an item in that group, not the entire group. There must be a setting that is turned off, as other views I can grab entire groups. Currently I have to open a 3-D view and select the group I wish to edit or change, instead of being able to select that same group on the 5th floor of my building. ( I can select the same group on the 4th floor, but I don't see any diference between the two floors?)
We are using Revit 2012
AutoCad :: Group Layer Filter - Drag / Drop Or By Selection
Jul 28, 2012I have determine that my AutoCad 2009 will allow me to drag/drop layers to an existing Group Layer Filter, but it will not allow me to right click on the Group Filter>Select Layers>Add. Once I go to the model space an select layers then "enter" no layers are added to the Filter Group and it gives me an error message that says "unable to modify layers while another command is active".

Jan 23, 2013I routinely add paths to existing Live Paint Groups, by dragging a path that is outside the group, into the LP group. But AI won't let me drag the "selection icon" from a nested layer, into an existing LP Group. Why?
It seems I'm requesting the same action, but AI won't allow the icon to be dragged into the group. I have to either open the layer and drag the objects directly, or drag the objects into the main layer, then into the Live Paint Group. I think this is an interface flaw.
FYI… I realize I could jump into the Live Paint Group using Isolation mode, but that takes extra steps and makes the template less useful.
AutoCad :: Group Layer Filter-adding Layers By Selection Then Enter
Aug 7, 2012I use a lot of Group Layer Filters so I can turn things on/off quickly. My problem is I have been creating my Layer Filter Group by right clicking on the Layer Group Filter>going to Selection>then click Add> then go back to my drawing or Layout tab and select all of the layers I need then click enter. One day my AutoCad would not let me do that anymore, and even after I click on enter it gives me an error message saying the command is still active. Now from my Layer Properties Manager I can select any layer and drag/drop it into any filter and it works, but I really need to be able to select things within the model space or paper of each layout tabs.

Apr 30, 2013I have a problem with selecting a solid hatch in autocad 2014 or 2012. from some reason when I click in random place on top of the hatch it always select it self even if it's not highlighted. It causes a problem when i need to select group of item which are on top of the hatch with the selection box. I did not have this problem in previous version. i also find it very strange that in different drawing in the same autocad version that problem do not exist. is there any variable to be set to solve that issue?

I found a means to access the unnamed group, however I am having trouble creating the list.

What I want to do is to remove a certain entity from the GROUP, then delete the entity.
Repeat until all entities of that type are removed (I can figure this part out...).
How do I create a Selection Set (or LIST) of all entities inside a GROUP?
To access the first GROUP name in the dictionary:

Jul 28, 2013Is there a way to have multiple shapes in one group and "squeeze" that group so that the shapes within the group deform? Just like you would an image in photoshop when using transform tool.

Jul 25, 2013I have a floorplan of a building and am labeling exits of the building for evacuation routes. Each exit label is on its own layer. I need to show the floor plan from different perspectives/orientations and therefore need to rotate the exit labels in place on their own individual axis. So far I have been going in and selecting the image (label) on each layer and rotating it 90 degrees and then repeating the process for the next label. When I group the layers they all rotate on one axis and therefore are not near the exit they are supposed to be near. Is there an easier (quicker) way to rotate the labels as I have to do this for four different perspective for each of four floor plans?

I know this can be done using InDesign by linking an Illustrator file and making subsequent updates to that Illustrator file. But I do not want to use InDesign, I want to use Illustrator. What I want is much like creating Symbols in Flash, updating one will cascade throughout the file.
Illustrator :: Applying Live Rotate / Multiple Copy Effect On A Group Of Paths?
Oct 16, 2012I'm intermediate (at best) with Illustrator. I'm using CS6 on a 2009 iMac. How to make Illustrator ignore stroke weight/cap/join settings when I'm applying a live rotate/multiple copy effect on a group of paths? Currently, Illustrator sets the rotation point to the outermost part of my stroke (figuring in the strokes atrributes), but I only want it to calculate the from the path's structure: the coordinates of my designated anchor point.
Here's the top/right group of paths with a rotate/ 3 copies effect of 90 degrees. Looks problem-free at this view.
Here's that top/right group of paths with the addition of a reflect/ 1 copy effect of X-axis. Still no apparent problems.
But here's a close up of the misalignment of corner points. As shown, the Transform effect is based off the strokes attributes (the tip of its corner), not the actual location of the corner point.
It does not apply different cap/corner styles or stroke alignments; that only slightly nudges the pivot point to the center.
Plus, this one point stroke is somewhat arbitrary. I only set it so in order to see my dynamic effects.
Tweaking the vertical/horizontal moves effects of the rotated/copied elements won't support because this art will later undergo lots of alteration, mostly changes in stroke weight (maybe even variable stroke width).
I need the skeleton of my structure to snap together precisely.
Any solution, no matter how roundabout, would save this project!
CorelDRAW X6 :: UnGroup A Control Group?
Jan 17, 2013I have a dwg showing both sides of a dinette. One side ("Left Booth") was grouped & then duplicated. The duplicate ("Right Booth") was mirrored and moved to the other side. I "UnGrouped" the duplicate ("Right Booth" - not shown in the attached clip), but I can not UnGroup the original "Left Booth" grouping. The original grouping has NO special effects (drop shadow, etc.), simply a group of lines, curves and rectangles. I can't find any "attachment" between the two.
How can I ungroup the "Left Booth" group?

Jul 20, 2011Cloning usually applies to a single object. For example if I take a square and make a clone of it, make any changes to the original, the clone will change.
However, if there's a group of a square, a text saying HELLO, and a circle. I make a clone of this group. Then if I squeeze the only the circle in the original [thereby making it an ellipse], the clone won't change. Is there a way to do this?

After making the branch consisting of symbol needles (just a bunch of needles, grouped or not), it is not possible to use envelope on the branch and bend it. It can only be rotated or sized. Is it normal? How to create varieties?

Sep 1, 2011I have this script that basically makes a shape expand by adding an outline, conveting the outline to an object, and then welding the whole thing together.
I have the script set to execute with hotkey ctrl+numpad+
The odd thing is, when I run it once, it seems to work fine and only one object is left, but when I hold down ctrl and press numoad+ over and over again, it seems to produce a new copy of the object everytime.
I'm not sure why this is happening, but I need to get it to stop.

I've asked this in the X5 board before, gave up, and it's still bugging me with X6.

So I group a few objects, apply drop shadow to the group, and now I want to select one of the object in the group (to move it or resize it, etc).
I just can't find an effective way to do this without discarding the drop shadow, edit, and reapply the drop shadow. There have been many suggestion that seems to work for certain people, i.e. Ctrl+Click, Ctrl+Alt+Click, Ctrl+Alt+Shift+Click, but none works as desire.
In the attached example, I try to select the red square. If I Ctrl+Click, it selects the whole group. If I Ctrl+Alt+Click, it either selects the yellow circle, or edits the drop shadow.
If I Ctrl+Alt+Shift+Click, the result is random. It either selects the blue background square, or selects the yellow circle, or edits the drop shadow, and once in a blue moon successfully selects the red square.

Jun 1, 2011if I have a group of areas that I want filled... I can select uniform, fountain, and postscript... but why doesn't pattern work for a group? This would be useful and seems like a bug. Why would I have to apply the fill to each part of the group? Groups are supposed to be useful for manipulating multiple objects in this way.

We used to have this feature on a product called Vinyl Master. It is really good, but I don't want to run 2 systems for my artwork. We mostly do digital output, but have the requirement to cut vinyl too, mainly for mining vehicles.
It would save a heap of work if we could group all alike colours, then copy to another page, ready for output. Even better if they were nested.
