CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 :: Misalignment In Dialog Boxes
Aug 5, 2011
Noticed the mis-alignment that occurs in some of Corel's dialog boxes? For example in the New Document dislogs (both Draw and Photo Paint). The Draw dialog looks like this on my machine:
Notice how the labels are out of line with the dialog controls - e.g. the label "Preview Mode" is much higher than the drop-down list it belongs to - way out of alignment. Also, notice how the 'Height' and 'Width' spinners cut off the second 'm'. It's the same situation with Photo Paint too.I mention this because in the Scott Georgeson Video Tutorials, his New Document dialog boxes are not misaligned
currently getting by with v11 on winXP..Having a recent problem which I hope one of you can identify. I undoubtedly caused this problem myself by while trying to set up multiple monitors with different screen resolutions, dpi's, font viewing sizes, etc... but now I don't know exactly what setting caused it or how to get back to normal.
Here's the problem - two dialog boxes are displaying very skewed as shown in the screen-shots below. It's only these two dialogs I seem to have trouble with. It's like their popup windows are wrong proportions. No settings I change in my monitor setups seem to correct the situation.
I have been trying to create artwork for university style hoodies, where text is created to form the shape of a number.
I have successfully converted a number into a text box for this purpose. The text is inside and looks great.
However, I need to convert this number / text box to curves in order to keep its appearance when e-mailing. When I convert it to curves, the text shifts its position to outside of the text box. The strangest part is that it only happens with numbers that have a gap in the middle (4, 6, 8, 9 and 0).
I need to hide the dotted boxes that are now showing in X3 around all paragraph text on maybe 1000 business slides I created 5 to 10 years ago and now want to update.
Changing to artistic text does make the dotted boxes go away but is there a master setting that would make them go away in paragraph text?
Five to ten years ago I created maybe 1000 busness slides in CorelDraw and then moved their images to Powerpoint. Versions used were 11 and X3.
Now when I want to dust them all off and freshen them I find dotted boxes around .
What I do not like is that I draw a rectangle and then add the radius corners and it is fine.
If I then drag the box taller or wider the radius of the corner changes too. But also I have noticed that it does this even if you drag the box to size first then add the radius corners.
example: I make up a rectangle and add start adding text. Then I have to make the box bigger so I do that, finish adding my text. Now go to add in the radius corner and they are all skewed out of shape. This seems to be because I have dragged that rectangle bigger that what it was when I first dragged it into place.
Is there a way around this so that I can make my rectangle say 250 wide by 50 tall. Then later on change it's size and add radius corners and make it so the corners are all even and not all out of proportions?
A colleague of mine has problems when moving a textbox. She grab the textbox with the mouse, the complete work area change to a white background, so she doesn't see, where she has to drop the mouse cursor. After she drop the mouse cursor, the background change to the graphic again.
The hardware she uses is new and included the following components:HP Z200 i7-870 Workstation2,93 GHz, 6 GB 1333MHz DDR3, ATI FirePro V3800 with 512MB RAM, Windows7 Prof 64bit
How can I stop new text boxes being rotated? When I make a new text box (or start typing artistic text) using the text tool, the box (or artistic text) is rotated 90° clockwise. The tabs also show on the left hand ruler instead of the top one. I have looked at all the options in the Tools menu but there does not seem to a way of changing this. I have attached a CorelDraw file as an example.
I am using CorelDraw 14.0.0.701 from Graphics Suite 4. My PC is running Windows XP Pro, Service Pack build 2600.
Transitioning to CD X6 while try to get work done is a chore. I just loaded the real CD X6 box version. It deleted the downloaded test version. But now I made a new poster and I am using Ctrl-E to export it and there is no Export Dialog box. It just saves the JPG in what it thinks I need!! How do I get the Export Dialog box back to control the parameters of my Export?
We have CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 installed on a Windows XP SP3 32-bit machine and when attempting to export a CorelDRAW file to anything (i.e. JPG), the applications crashes after the export dialog box opens. This happens for any file we try to export.
We have reset the workspace using F8, but it did not resolve the issue.
Exporting the same file in CorelDRAW X4 or even X3 works perfectly, this is only an issue with X5.
CorelDraw X5 (German Version 15.0.2.0695):I've installed Corel X5 under Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit.
When I try to set up my ppd-file in the printer dialog window, I can chose the ppd-file but the OK-button (öffnen) doesn't work. Clicking by mouse or by Enter button at the keyboard: nothing happens, the ppd-file won't be accepted. It seams the OK-button is out of any function in this window.
I print spot color separations using CorelDraw a lot. Just ungraded from X3 to X5. One problem I am having is in the printing dialog. When a file has, say, 4 colors showing up in the separations section I may only want to print 2 or three of them. I deselect the ones I don't want - but all 4 seps come out. I am wasting a lot of expensive separations.
How do I go about saving the settings on the open dialog box? It keeps moving to different locations and it keeps changing the Name / Date modified / Type / Size columns very narrow where it only shows the name and nothing else.
I do have the dialog box very large across so it can accommodate what I want including the preview.
When exporting a file to jpeg the dialog box that normally appears and lets you select the quality of the jpeg is not popping up but the files saves but I now have no options in saving the file.
I am having trouble resizing text boxes with text in them, so that the text scales with the box.If I convert the text box the curves, it messes up the formatting when I add an outline to the curve because the text box itself is given a outline.
After finally getting X6 to be stable and usable I have two things I'd like to mention..
First, I've been using a 3rd party file manager called Ztree for years and one of its most wonderful capabilities is to copy paths to the clipboard which alleviates opening/saving frustrations with the typical Windoze Explorer dialogs. Anyway, one of the first problems I noticed with X6 is that Paste no longer works in the Open Drawing dialog, while it worked just fine in X5 and as far as I can remember, all previous versions. I sure would like to get that back.
My second complaint is the File/Export routine and specifically the presets. I do a lot of exporting to PNG and JPG and use multiple presets for fixed size/print resolution image output in both file formats. During the typical export session, I essentially export multiple different drawings all of which are exactly the same size/resolution in CD and in the past (X4 and prior as I recall,) was able to just hit <Enter> when the Export dialog appeared once the preset was set to the one I needed for that session.
In X6 though (and to some degree in X5,) even though the correct preset is listed, CD doesn't appear to recognize it, i.e., the math for the size/dpi conversion doesn't take place which forces me to waste time selecting "Original" or some other preset first, waiting for CD to render the new version, and THEN selecting the conversion preset that was pre-selected when I first opened the export dialog.
For some reason when I go to use "Save As" either from the dropdown "File" menu or from the keyboard shortcut the dialog box shows up for a split second and then dissappears. If I hit enter it acts as if I told it to write over the currently open file without renaming it and prompts me to verify that's what I want to do.
I can't see the dialog, so I can't rename the file if I want to, or change the location where the file is being saved to. I had my computer re-imaged last week and didn't have any issues once everything hed been reinstalled.
On Monday when I had the Wacom tablet drivers installed as they had been missed the previous week the issue started. I deleted my preferences but nothing changed. I had PS reinstalled as I know in the previous PS editions the software prefered to be reloaded when accessories were attached. This didn't fix the problem, so I had the wacom drivers removed.
It STILL didn't fix anything. When I came in this morning (23 June) neither PS or AI would even open up. I had the entire suite removed (even though Flash, Fireworks and Dreamweaver all operate as intended) and reinstalled. When they were finally done the problem was STILL there!! What other step am I missing?? Why out of the blue would these two, and ONLY these two be acting crazy?
This is probably a really stupid question, but several of my settings dialog boxes aren't showing up. I right click on the buttons at the bottom (at the moment snap and grid show this problem), click on the settings selection so I can modify them, then the autocad window looses windows focus (the bar at the top goes to the pale blue), and I can't do anything in autocad. I hit escape and it goes back to normal.
That looks to me like it is opening the settings window, and my focuse is being set to it, but I don't see it. How do I fix this? Can I reset dialog box starting locations (not like I know how it got moved to a crazy place in the first place, but still)?
Dialog boxes are appearing in various different places rather than a central location on the screen...
For example: the Save dialog appears half off screen towards the lower right section of the display. Various other boxes appear in the top left, upper right. All dialog boxes are moveable, so i can reposition them to the middle but the next time i used appear where they were, not centrally.
I work both on a 13" macook pro seperately and with and a 27" apple display attached. Dialog boxes are visiable on the 27" display but often in odd places.
Is there any way i can reset their position? I have tried reseting all dialogs, trashed the preferences in the preferences in the library folder on the computer but no luck. I am puzzled.
When opening AutoCAD 2010, I get an error message "Unable to load profile...". This happened unexplicably. I have been using AutoCAD several months with no problems. One annoying consequence is that dialog boxes do not display. For example, running DIMSTYLE does not open the Dimension Style dialog box; instead, a list of options such as ANnotative, Save, and Restore appears. How do I get back to normal?
In AutoCad (I am working with ACA 2012) there are several dialog boxes e.g. the "rename" dialog box that always show up in the same (too small) size.
After renaming e.g. a block, the window closes and I have to repeat the command to rename another item.
I would like to size the window and keep the setting and would like to keep renaming things without getting interupted by automatical closeups of the window.
I have a brand new Dell M90 Workstation (1 week old) with Nvidia Quadro Fx2500M Video Card (Certified). Both the context menus and dialog boxes are disappearing off the screen at different times - they are still there because when the mouse is moved across the area parts of the boxes reappear. Dell has replaced the video card, hard drive and motherboard and still the same problem.
why (sometimes) when I export text or graphics as .eps files to my cutter it cuts the same outline up to four to five times and ends up cutting right through the backing paper. I have been using postcut with various corel editions since 1997 with no problems until recently. It also cuts random lines through lines of text which is such an expensive pain in the ass.
I started to use the production manager in flexi sign to cut my designs and same thing happens, except for the random lines but it will make up to five cuts on some objects. All text and graphics are exported the same. Has something in corel newer versions changed in relation to this?
Often whatever I'm working on in X4 disappears off the document page when I zoom in or out. It's still there (I can see it in the print preview)and I can print it, but I can't see it no matter what view (e.g., normal, draft, etc.) I select. If I select the entire page I can see the graphic and text handles, but nothing else. The only way I can see my work again is to save it, close the program, and then re-open the file. My computer is a Dell Precision Work Station T3400 running Vista Ultimate with an Intel Core2 Quad CPU, 4GB RAM, and my graphics card is an NVIDIA Quadro FX 570 256MB. All my software and drivers are up to date. The problem occurs no matter what screen resolution or refresh rate I'm using.
i´m using CRD since X3 so I think i´m quite experienced with all the crashes and uncompatibilities but now I have a problem which I can´t solve.
I made a graphic project which is quite large (2,6m x 2,0m @ 300dpi) and including raster grahics. The CDR file itself has about 400MB. When I tried to export this graphic to the png or jpg at the current size Corel X5 always crashes. I tried almost everything on many computers but always the same problem.
It looks like the project is too large for export. At this moment I desperately need to export the file to jpg or png at full resolution. Maybe X6 is more stable when exports or I have to simplify the project somehow but...
FILE IS UPLOADED here and I need to have it 2,6m x 2,0m: [URL]
