I have created a symbol in CorelDraw X5 on a Mac using parallels.
The symbol is on a layer which is not locked, and the object which has become a symbol was grouped before I made it into a symbol. The boundary marks changed from black to blue.When I try to select Edit/Symbol/Break link, the Break link command is greyed out.
If I right click on a symbol instance, I get a menu item, "Break link to symbol." How can I do that same thing in Javascript?
1) That is, how do I use Javascript to break the link between a SymbolItem and the Symbol it represents? (i.e. without deleting the Symbol?)
2) Once the link is broken, how do I locate the Layer that was created when the link was broken? That is, once the link is broken, it is no longer a SymbolItem; it becomes a Layer instead. How do I locate that Layer?
3) How do I convert the Layer to a GroupItem?

So in this script Shapes(2) is the contoured object that I want to change the outline of. Im guessing however it is only called shapes(2) because there was only 2 objects in the document when I wrote this script, (starting with one). In fact, if i start with a document with more than just one object, the outline change doesnt work.
I need to either leanr how to get a count of all objects in the document and assume the highest number will be the last created object and will thus be the one I need, or perhaps there is a way to instantiate the contuored shape when i call ActiveSelection.Seperate. something like
dim myContouredObject as shape
OriginalSelection + myContouredObject = ActiveSelection.Seperate
I'm sure the above wont work, just trying to be a bit more explicit about what im trying to do.
So, basically, how do i get the name of one or all of the objects resulting from a break apart?
when I switch tab once at the end of the line sits the line break outside of the paragraph text frame..The background color so then runs out of the frame.A wish at left line intent (or right) it should be possible to fill these also with the background color and a function that assigns every second line is a background color..
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe imported file is probably from Illustrator. The vector element in question is text converted to curves with a CMYK bit map fill. CorelDraw X5 seems unable to extract the bitmap fill from the vectors. What's up with this, is there anyway to extract the bitmap fill?

My symbol manager doesn't work in CorelDRAW X5.
I open the symbol manager and click on local or network symbols, add library and go to c: users/public/ public documents/ Corel/ CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5/ extras/ content/ clipart and click on any of the folders or files and then click on "ok" and I get absolutely nothing.
Nothing appears in the symbol preview at anytime. I think I am doing this according to the instructions. I know the clip art is there because I can navigate to it through windows and open them.
I uninstalled, re-installed, and updated it.
Just a guess but with 64 bit Coreldraw maybe we would be able to Print Merge large files without crashing or having to break it into digestible bits.

Computer memory is no longer the issue - 32 bit computer programs are.Until then I will stay with X4. run in Windows 7, 64 bit with 12 Gigs RAM.
Can I get text in a symbol to change based on file / tab name or other attribute?
View 2 Replies View RelatedDraw froze yesterday and I had to force close it. When I started working today, I noticed that the 'Edit bitmap' link in the tool bar and drop down menu is grayed out. I've tried F8 and all that did was delete all my darn preferences. Beyond F8, are there any other options?

I use corel draw to assemble jpeg images I have exported from another application into a presentation which I then publish to pdf.
My problem is that whenever I update the images I have to re-insert and position/scale each one again in the corel presentation.
I've been trying to work out how to do this with linked files or OLE objects, but without success.
Is there a way to link or embed jpegs so that if I update the original jpeg it will update in corel draw?
I've tried to follow corel help but it doesn't work. Inserting an OLE just puts a box with the jpeg filename on the page, and it prints as just a box with a filename as well.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen setting a URL link to selected text in a text object, the link style (blue w/ underline) is not preserved after save, close & reopening. The url is still set if you select the same text.The biggest issue is when publishing to PDF, those links do not get published as it did in previous versions of CorelDRAW. This breaks thousands of our documents when publishing to pdf since we have upgraded from X3 to X6. This is a show stopper for us using X6.

a really simplen example would be several instances of the same button graphic but with different labels.
I know these things are possible in Fireworks, but couldn't find a way to make it happen in Illustrator.
In cs6 when I break a link to a symbol, the symbol group becomes a sublayer and the layers panel gets expanded showing all the objects in that layer. I then have to collapse the menu. every time I select any object that was part of the symbol, my layers panel expands. this is very frustrating. so avoided it, when I break a symbol, I have to select the objects from the menu panel and move them out of the sublayer. this is not very fun to do when I have a lot of symbols to deal with.
so is this a new behavior in cs6, is there a way for a symbol to break into a group and not a sublayer (ithink that's what's happening not sure)?
I am experiencing trouble with the simplify function. When I create a shrinkwrap / simplified part, it always keeps the link to the original assembly. Therefore I cannot move the shrinkwrap to other folders or treat it as an individual ipt file in any way. When I try to break the link I can't, the "link" button is greyed out:

I have a shrinkwrap part of a conveyor that I want to use in a plant layout. I have it just the way I want it now. However, I want to do a break link on it so I can copy it off to another project workspace. When I do a break link my derive settings change to some funky default and my model gets all messed up. The one that's giving me the biggest problem is the remove parts by size. On my long conveyors its removing my motor, reducer, drive chain guards, support legs, and other miscellanea that I need shown in my layout.

I have a table linked to an Excel spreadsheet, I unlock the cells and then right click but the Data Link sub-menu is greyed out and not available. Cannot delete the link in the data link manager becasue it is in use. Had to open the drawing in 2011 and detach the data link. 2008 also detached the link no problem.

why (sometimes) when I export text or graphics as .eps files to my cutter it cuts the same outline up to four to five times and ends up cutting right through the backing paper. I have been using postcut with various corel editions since 1997 with no problems until recently. It also cuts random lines through lines of text which is such an expensive pain in the ass.
I started to use the production manager in flexi sign to cut my designs and same thing happens, except for the random lines but it will make up to five cuts on some objects. All text and graphics are exported the same. Has something in corel newer versions changed in relation to this?
We are having a big problem with dropping lines of text or parts of graphics. It is happening on 3 different laser systems and 2 different printers.
View 14 Replies View RelatedOften whatever I'm working on in X4 disappears off the document page when I zoom in or out. It's still there (I can see it in the print preview)and I can print it, but I can't see it no matter what view (e.g., normal, draft, etc.) I select. If I select the entire page I can see the graphic and text handles, but nothing else. The only way I can see my work again is to save it, close the program, and then re-open the file. My computer is a Dell Precision Work Station T3400 running Vista Ultimate with an Intel Core2 Quad CPU, 4GB RAM, and my graphics card is an NVIDIA Quadro FX 570 256MB. All my software and drivers are up to date. The problem occurs no matter what screen resolution or refresh rate I'm using.

I made a graphic project which is quite large (2,6m x 2,0m @ 300dpi) and including raster grahics. The CDR file itself has about 400MB. When I tried to export this graphic to the png or jpg at the current size Corel X5 always crashes. I tried almost everything on many computers but always the same problem.
It looks like the project is too large for export. At this moment I desperately need to export the file to jpg or png at full resolution. Maybe X6 is more stable when exports or I have to simplify the project somehow but...

I have a 900 x 500 px image in Adobe Illustrator, which overlaps a bit the canvas on the left side.
When I open this file with Corel, it adjusts my graphics so that it's centered on the screen. The AI file is centered on another point. Also, the canvas Corel creates is A4 sized. I always have to resize the canvas and then manually adjust the position of my graphics.
Question: How can I save an AI file so that when I open it at Corel, the position and size of the canvas will be exactly the same?
Entire Corel suite freezes on start up - I cannot do anything. Reinstalling also does not work - suddenly buttons on the installer dissapeared - there is no text on them and when I click them nothing happens.
A week ago I have installed service pack 3 and everything worked fine. It has all gone wrong again. And installation of the latest patches does not work anymore.
I am running Windows 7 64-bit and I've got a feeling that is must have something to do with system updates.
I often create graphics in CorelDRAW export it and inserting it into my MS Word documents and finally convert my documents to pdf. When it is vector graphics, exporting as EPS works fine: The increase in file size is small and lines are displayed perfect independant of how much you zoom in the final pdf document. When I handle bitmaps, I usually export as JPG (or PNG), which works well too. My problem arise when I have a mixed vector and bitmap image. I have imported a bitmap into CorelDRAW and created some lines on top of it. I want to export it as a whole. If I export as EPS, the final result is fine, but filesize has increased considerable. If I choose to export as jpg, the filesize is fine, but the lines are getting slightly blurry. Is there a way to get the best of both Worlds - resonable filesize and perfect lines? Maybe settings in some dialog??
