Is it possible to do such a thing? Everyday I have to change the production number in the label artwork. Can I link this production number in the artwork to an external file such as an Excel datasheet?
View 3 RepliesI am building a big catalog for hundreds of products, and it would be a life savior if i could connect dynamically the (customized) text (fields) in the .cdr file to an external excel file data. For example smth like the text field "Title" to be taking its values from the column "Description" of the excel file, incrementally as each line of the excel file could represent a record. This way also when the excel file changes, (because it will be probably like 10 more versions before it gets final), the content inside the corel draw file will change automatically as well.

I am having an issue with X6's print merge not recognizing a properly formatted numeric filed from my Excel spreadsheet. My first issue was that Corel was adding a decimal point after my numbers. This was when they were still formatted as text fields. (which i still don't understand why, since they were just TEXT fileds)
I know that the fields need to be "numeric" fields.
FYI i have ALREADY COMPLETED MY TASK by using an "added" numeric filed that i added IN CorelDraw and then used the "Numeric Field Options" at the bottom of the page to get my number sequence.
However, that is not my question.... my question is: How do i get corel to RECOGNIZE a numeric field AS a numeric field in the first place.

I really don't know the best way to do this or maybe there is a standard, but here is what I am wanting.
When you put text over a simple vector graphic, the graphics makes it hard to read the Text.
I normally delete the graphic lines touching the text and this works but was wondering if there was another way.
Example: if this is a one color design "White" and it is just an outline of lets say a human, and I want to display text which is "White" also across the human image sometimes the image will interfere with being able to read the text clearly.
I am using X5. I hanve a customer with a business card and wants the artwork enlarged for a t-shirt to about a 8.5 X 11 inches. The logo measures about 1.5I X 2 inches. Is this even possible to make it anything that looks half decent?

I'm not sure if it is a plugin or some other application but I remember several years ago I had a program that ran in the docker that would allow me to pick a color outside of corel using an eye dropper tool and would let me paste it into my corel document.

The symbol is on a layer which is not locked, and the object which has become a symbol was grouped before I made it into a symbol. The boundary marks changed from black to blue.When I try to select Edit/Symbol/Break link, the Break link command is greyed out.
Can I get text in a symbol to change based on file / tab name or other attribute?

I've tried F8 and all that did was delete all my darn preferences. Beyond F8, are there any other options?

I use corel draw to assemble jpeg images I have exported from another application into a presentation which I then publish to pdf.
My problem is that whenever I update the images I have to re-insert and position/scale each one again in the corel presentation.
I've been trying to work out how to do this with linked files or OLE objects, but without success.
Is there a way to link or embed jpegs so that if I update the original jpeg it will update in corel draw?
I've tried to follow corel help but it doesn't work. Inserting an OLE just puts a box with the jpeg filename on the page, and it prints as just a box with a filename as well.
what's the biggest filesize in terms of pages that you people have handled? I have handled a file with 84 pages, it was 122 mb in filesize. I split it into two parts for smooth working.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've created a personalized invoice form in which I integrated a Microsoft Excel from to it. Ever since the version I integrated my Excel forms it has always been an issue.
When I integrate a Microsoft Excel form in CorelDRAW and apply changes to it, the form doesn't retain its size and emplacement. The change VERY slightly, but still ALWAYS change.
I'm having some trouble setting my workflow and I need linking data to corel draw from excel. Basically, what I want to do is to have excel data automatically copy from Excel to Draw and "Paste Special / Paste Link Objects/MS Excel Worksheet is almost what I need.
It would be perfect if only it would copy CONTENT of the Excel file or cells, not their formating (font, size, border etc.) which I want to do in Corel, since separation of the content (excel) and form (draw) would be just natural and functional - don't want my number crunchers to affect design of the Draw document, just as I don't want to have my designer to do the math
So - is there way to link objects (cells from Excel) but to transfer content (text) only or should I revert to VBA?
If I would like to compose a booklet in Corel Draw, how can I insert page numbers ?
I know the use of Master Layer. But contents on it will remain unchanged for all the pages. However the page numbers should auto increase page by page.
Adobe InDesign or pagemaker is useless infront of Corel Draw. But the problem of Footer (page numbering) has to be resolevd. So that Corel Draw will replace InDesign or related book work softwares.

Font Navigator was just finally working properly after giving me hell for the last few months, but now the Hotfix has broken it again. For as long as I can remember it has had a limit of about 64000 fonts in the library. All fonts are listed but once you got to the 64001st font in the list, it showed the preview for the first font in the list. Annoying, but i had about 66000 fonts in total available so it only affected a few fonts beginning with Y and Z.
Since the hotfix, it appears this 'limit' has been halved to around 32000 fonts. Which means I can't install any fonts beginning J - Z using Font Navigator any more, making it near useless. I've attached screenshots to show this.

I would like to make the number (1) to be aligned in the center of the box, so I select all and then (Click+C & E) as in the attached file.
I noted that I got the vertical in the center, but I got the left of horizontal a little bigger. I knew that I could get it centered both horizontally and vertically by converting texts to curves. I, however, don't want to convert it to curves because I need to edit the texts.
I've got CorelDRAW HOME & STUDENT SUITE X5. According to EULA I'm allowed to install it on 3 Computers athome. Actually X5 is installed only once on my Notebook under WinXP.
Now I'm going to upgrade the Notebook to Win7 or Win8 and re-install the CorelDRAW HOME & STUDENT SUITE X5 then. Will this re-installation be registered as a 2nd installation? If yes, how can I de-register the old XP-Installation? I plan to provide the other two installation options to my 2 children and don't want to loose one, therefore.

How would I put an outline around a number with a space between the number and outline?
When setting a URL link to selected text in a text object, the link style (blue w/ underline) is not preserved after save, close & reopening. The url is still set if you select the same text.The biggest issue is when publishing to PDF, those links do not get published as it did in previous versions of CorelDRAW. This breaks thousands of our documents when publishing to pdf since we have upgraded from X3 to X6. This is a show stopper for us using X6.

I highlight the url and remove the address from the url field and click apply and it takes numerous times repeating this process to remove the link. I want to turn it off so it does not automatically create a link.

1) You can't import more than one picture at a time, externally connected simultaneously in the document.
2) If you move the picture within it, in a new folder, there is the possibility of assigning the new path to more 'photos at the same time but only one at a time.
So if I have 100 photos to be updated with the new path I have to do with each photo. While it would be much more logical to assign the same path to more 'selected photos.
When making numbers for the side of a race car for example, you want both the numbers to angle (lean) towards the back of the car. So on the left side of the car, the number is leaning to the right, and on the right side of the car the number is leaning left. How do you change the text to get the number to lean the way you want it too?
