View 2 Replies View RelatedI searched through all the key short cuts, looked through the user guide and I'm at a loss where you can nudge a clip back and forth by single frames. I saw you can hold 'D" and SLIP the clips one frame at a time, but not move them outright.
So, since nudging is one of the absolute most basic requirements of any editor, I know it's in there. But alas, they hid it too well. here it might be?
Maybe hiding next to a trim mode I don't see where I can see how my slips and slides affect the area around the clip?
This is a daily occurrence. As I go along editing, I inevitably come upon some video clip (or audio clip) on my timeline that is missing it's original audio (or video) counterpart. I've previously deleted the audio portion (or video) at some point earlier in the edit, when it made sense to do so. Now, though, I change my mind, or I need to hear the audio to sync other clips, or just hear the audio for reference, etc.
How do I bring back the corresponding media? I love the new "Join Through Edits" command in Premiere Pro CC, it seems that a companion feature would be something like "Restore Original Linked Audio / Video"
Match Frame seems close to what I need, but involves a few more steps than a right-click, or keyboard shortcut (maybe I don't properly understand how it works). Does any command exist that would do what I'm needing? I can't imagine I'm the only one who would need this function DAILY.
what does exactly mean the red line under a clip in the timeline ?
I noticed the clip with red timeline has red effect, but it doesn't seems to mean i have to render them.
How to hide selected clips in timeline without turn off layer visibility (eye icon) ? i found no hotkey and also there's such option in contextual (RMB) menu.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThere is a shortcut key that I have been using in FCP for years. That is to select the edge of a clip and hit "E" and the clip will extend to where ever the timeline is.
Is there a function like this in smoke 2013?
I recently got a movie file from a client. This file is actually an edited video with straight cut edits. So I dragged this from the bin / media library onto the timeline and proceed to chop up the video according to where the cuts are using ctrl v, like how I usually do in premiere pro. I then selected one of the clips and added color correction to this clip. I found out that all the other clips were being color corrected as well.
I removed every thing and re-started from scratch using the source monitor to mark in and out for every cut. This time it worked properly with just the selected clip being color corrected. Is there any way I can do this like in premiere pro timeline with the razor blade but each clip becomes an individual one?
I have a single frame clip in my library, i want to put this clip into my timeline and i want it to be 10 seconds. I can just easily in/out in timeline and 'overwrite'. i don't like where i'm repeating a single frame and then still need to render it as 10 seconds clip.
This should be done like 'repeat' in the desktop tools. So in timeline when doing 'overwrite' , Smoke has to be smart to detect 1 frame edit so it just need to 'repeat' it not to 'timewarp' it.
And the another BAD thing , i can't have 'repeat' tool inside cfx . why ? so have to repeat the clip outside the cfx and go back into cfx.
There is any simple method to insert/add a clip on timeline without its sound? I know the methods of locking the audio track in the sequence or deleting the audio track of the clip but I'd like to have some simple shortcut like Option+drag or something similar. There is any?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen matching a source clip from the new sequence area it appears that you now have to have the widget on the clip you wish to match rather than just select the clip. Is this a change in the way 'match' works or is it a bug?
It was always nice to just tap the clip and press match rather than now having to scrub your widget to the right layer and clip before pressing match.
I need my audio to reverse with my video clip, doesn't seem like Smoke wants to do that or am I missing something?
View 4 Replies View Relatedi have a clip in layer 1 and i want to move it to layer 2 , i don't want accidentally move in horizontal direction (change edit point), i want to move straight vertically. Using FCP hotkey, i can activate snap (shift key) to constraint it to a cut, but that only works if i got another clip, if there's no other clip , i can't do constraint since there's no reference. In FCP i can still doing it because it can use the current clip's previous position as reference edit. But in Smoke , i can't do that. I think there should be a feature added for this process. The workaround is : do not move the clip but using duplicate, then delete the original one... but seems too complex for that little tiny task.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been using smoke for about 2 weeks now and I keep having audio glitching and skipping on my timeline as well as when I try to export my project to proresHQ. I am working with proresHQ media and a mp3 music track. Sometimes I can restart smoke and it will go away for a while but it always seems to come back and at random places and always shows up when I export. I am unable to export any projects do to this

Any way of locking all the audio tracks at once. I am using Smoke 2013 on Mac with Smoke Classic Keys Set up, I can lock all the video tracks at once by shift-clicking on the Lock icon of any video track, the same doesn't seem to apply to audio track...

since you were asking for feedback on the editor UI from Mac users...
a) is there a cut button that allows to cut a clip into two at the current marker positions? (e.g. to repeat certain elements)
b) is there an easy way to add extra frames at the beginning or the end of the clip by holding the first or last frame? (very important, but cannot find how to do this). Ideally this would just require dragging the beginning or end of the clip somehow...
c) There should be an easy option to add frames by extending the last or first frame in the case of transitions. Is there one? On Premiere, there's an option for this, makes it much faster to add transitions if there is limited movement in the source material
d) is there a way to auto stretch a clip on insert into the timeline to the selected region? time warp and frame-hold options (beginning, end, both)?
e) why is it not possible to drag clips back into the media hub on the left? (e.g. imported an AAF with a bunch of clips, now want to store some of the clips for later re-use in another timeline or part instead of having to keep it on the timeline)
f) the zooming into the timeline is cumbersome - is there a way to draw a rectangle to auto-zoom into that area? Premiere has a little scroller at the boom to select the zoom level. very useful.
g) for timeline zooming, could you support gestures on the MacBook touch pad? If you push two fingers apart, the timeline should horizontally zoom in. Two fingers together should allow to zoom out. This is actually not just for the timeline. We need this in all views in Connect FX, Action etc. Would make working so much quicker. And it's really standard Mac stuff. (Two fingers without pushing apart could enable panning? And/or space + mouse movement to pan?)
I'm trying to get my source audio to patch to tracks 3 and 4 in my record timeline. It looks like I should be able to drag on the source clips patch to change it from A1.L and A1.R to A2.L/A2.R.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI imported an AAF from Premiere Pro and the media came in separately from the video. So I have a video clip and a separate audio clip instead of the two together. Is this because I chose "Save Sources Separately"?

I quit smoke, changed to coreaudio in the smoke setup, hit apply, and then quit the app. when I restart smoke it tells me that it is disabling the audio output due to an audio / video mismatch.
Below I have three screen shots. The error message, my system sound panel, and the smoke setup window. Why I am geting this error?

New update seems to have caused any QT with audio and video to be locked together....ie if I lift the video, it'll lift the audio, or if I apply an effect to audio, the video becomes unrendered, where previously it wasn't. Used to be able to modify or edit without V&A locked together.....

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have recently upgraded my old VideoStudio 12.00 to VideoStudio Pro X4 and have only just started using the program again after a couple of years of absence so I am still on a learning curve.
Can I extract the audio from a video clip and if so how and how can I convert it, if necessary into an Audio Interchange File Format, so that I can export it to a program such as Audacity for removing background wind noise before importing the Audio back into the videoStudio project.
I have tried using all the audio filter functions in VS to remove the background noise, to no avail.
I have a composition which has two pieces of VO. Each has an associated text block.I want to play the first VO when the first text is clicked. Then, when the VO ends, I want the first text block to fade out, the second to fade in and play the second VO when tapped.
I have the timeline set up with labels to play through the transitions at the end of the first VO. No issues there.I have the audio playing when I click on the text blocks. All good. However, I do not know how to make the timeline wait for the audio clip to end before playing. This is the code for the first text block:
sym.$("RUP01_Nar_1")[0].play();
sym.play('Nar2');
This plays the audio but also plays the timeline instantly (so the text blocks fade from one to the other as soon as the audio starts).
I figure I need some sort of code in between which says, essentially, 'wait until the audio finishes then [play timeline]'. But as much i have searched I cannot find anything to do that.
The Pro X3 help file says I can extract audio from a video file, but doesn't say how. What I would like to do is extract a segment of audio music from an MPEG2 video file using PRO X3 and add it to the Library for use in another PRO X3 project.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a sequence that I only want to export a segment of, from my marked in-point to out-point.
Where is the option like in FCP & Avid, to just export that segment? I would really like to have to not create a subclip each time I just want to export a segment.
I trimmed a wav audio file with the little yellow markers in the clip by placing the markers where I want them and using the scissors, then saved it, but when I drag it down to the timeline it comes down as the original long file.

As you can see I'm just playing around w/ the effect/amounts etc.
I had to manually apply this effect at every frame in the Photoshop's Timeline, which takes a to long... I would love to do it to whole clips. What's the best workflow for that?
A way I tried w little success before was to split the clip into individual frames, (forget how to do that) & then apply a batch command to all the pics, I remember trying this method & it not working w/ Oil Paint effect.
1. I put a clip in a timeline , then i put a cfx clip on top of the first clip. Add axis clip to cfx clip, set transparancy to 100% (fully transparent) , when hit render , this cfx is still calculated.
2. if i have stack of cfx clips, the clips are solid (no matte or transparancy ). one clip is on top of the other. In the top layer , i add a axis fx and cut a very small hole. We can see even a very small hole ( that will exposed small part of the bg ) will trigger smoke to render both of the clip full frame. Actually i only will see small part of the BG so i'm expecting smoke to render only that visible pixel. How to control this ? In some case i will waste my time waiting smoke to render part that i don't need.
