I need translating the layer from one drawing to another. e.g. I have some standard layers in our drawing template and I want to move the contents of our client's drawing to our default drawing template without their layers. Or may be is there a way to auto convert the layers to match our standard layers?
View 4 RepliesI am 90% into the design of a subdivision and the survey was just updated. The original design was in an arbitrary coordinate system, and the new boundary is in state plane coordinates. I would like to move all of the design information to the new boundary. This would include all of the surfaces (approximately 6).
When I move the surface (any surface), I end up with errors. If I move the surface alone, I cannot move the defining feature lines. If I move the feature lines, I loose all of the edits I have made to the surface.
Is there any clean way to translate a drawing, including all design work, to a new coordinate?
Translating when rendering only seems to use 1 cpu core and takes 90% of the render time, so having a quad core processor running a view that takes 10 min render only gives me a 5% decrease in time over a dual core...
I don't think you can really call Inventor rendering a multi core app?
I am using layer translate to convert from one set of standards to another. I have created a translation file with all the desired settings and everything works fine, except the old layers remain in the drawing after translating. Is there a way to delete all of the old (unused) layers after translation?

When i tried to execute an action created on my pc, running an english (US) Photoshop, i got some errors. As the action tried to change layers it said: 'cannot find layer1' Turns out that, unlike for example M$ Office products (excel, Access, etc), Photoshop handles purely on a name (or text) base. If you'd make a formula in (DUTCH) excel stating 'ALS(b1<B2,b3=1,b3=0)' and you take this worksheet into an english version it'd be automatically read : 'IF(b1<B2,b3=1,b3=0)' (ALS is IF in dutch).
A dutch version creates a 'laag' as opposed to a 'layer', 'layer copy' is 'laag kopie'
So how do I get these 'english' actions to work on a dutch photoshop?
Are there any action editors and/or translators ?
My director friend has seen me color correct images in LR with grace and skill, and wants me to start doing color correction for his films. I have never used Final Cut Pro before, and wondered if the controls in Final Cut were similar to LR, if you could export and import between the two, and generally what the difference was between working with color in each. He has one of the RED cameras, which shoots in RAW, so I assume the different can't be too great.

Now, here's that same frame in After Effects.Both the C4D and AE files are using the same frame rate (24). And if I keep playing the AE timeline, it does add more particles, but nowhere near like it is in the actual C4D file.For reference, I'm running Cinema 4D Studio R14 and AE CC.
I need to copy a layer from one drawing to another, the problem is that one of them is in model and the other one is in paper. The method I tried using was: I used the q select command to copy all objects from one layer on to the clipboard and then tried pasting it in the other drawing (which was in paper) - and nothing got pasted.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an image with 8 layers and i want to draw lines. So I make a new layer. While this layer is selected, i select the line tool and draw a line. Then, as I want to move this line, I select the move tool and try to move it. But instead of moving the line I just drew, photoshop automatically switches to my background layer (although i'm not sure it's defined as "background layer") and moves the entire content of the layer.
To see what actually happened, i hid each layer in the layer palette... And still... here was my line. (with all layers hidden, is it POSSIBLE to have anything?)
I tried to select my line and then, using the move tool, move it, but the message "could not move the selection because the selected area is empty"...
for some reason when i select a layer and draw a line (lets go with blue) it draws a white line, though in layer manager it says i'm drawing a blue line. when you click, then rt click the line, go to properties it says the line is drawn "by block" once i switch it to "by layer" the proper colors come up. I am altering a drawing so its easier for me to draw in a different color to see what i've done and what was already there.

It seems like this particular drawing has issues not seen elsewhere.(besides the fact it was badly drawn) After some time playing with all the settings. We turned on the zero layer and then all the nodes were available as usual.
i've been using AutoCad for 20 years and never seen this. Is this some kind of new feature?Can you control the snaps with a layer? WHY?

Normally i use it for doing for producing panel wiring drawings, the way i normally do this is have a drawing on layer 1 then copy paste for additional layers, though this works ok, when i need to change eg date / site ref i have to change it on every page. I know by doing the basics on the model this then transfers to the other layouts. Plots set up for A4 landscape, on model / layer scale set to 1:1 I do drawing on model then when choose new layer the drawing scales down even though set 1:1 paper size same ect.

PTPUtils.CreateLayer() method creates a new layer in the given DB. However, the code gives me an "eKeyNotFound" exception in the line p.Layer = newLayer.
If I remove the p.Layer line, the code works very well. But the entity only goes to the default layer "0".
I want to change the color of everything in my drawing except for 3 layers. There are hundreds of layers and blocks in this drawing, even after purging. I want to avoid just exploding everything and putting it on one layer.
I want to change everything to grey except for the 3 layers I'm working in. I'm using ACAD LT so I can't create a script to do the job. The only thing I can think of is going into the layer properties window and selecting each layer and changing the color one at a time.
I had an issue using 3D 2010. In my drawing I had a layer for my windows. My windows were nicely put together and design on the window layer. Next thing that happens I turn on my drawing today to come and find my windows are now saved on my viewport layer and the viewport layer took the properties of my window layer. Now last night when I plotted out the drawing I made viewports on a layer for viewports and that was the last layer I had used so it was current. What I want to know is why the hell did the layer dominate my window layer with taking the properties of my window layer. I did not merge them!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a file with an x-ref. The x-ref drawing colours are changed and the objects colours are set to bylayer. I am trying to make a point of my drawing darker than the rest and the other areas just faded grey. I have colours 211-217 set to print at a darker colour and different line weights. For some reason though, even though I have some buildings in my drawing set to 214, it is still coming out cyan in my current drawing.

Now I want to make the layer that I have selected (value) in the combobox the current layer in my drawing.
How can i make it current?
The layer merge command is not working in one particular drawing. But fine in others and new files using the acad.dwt file.Is there a setting that effects the command.
