AutoCad 2D :: Changing All Colors In Drawing Regardless Of Layer Block
Feb 20, 2012
I want to change the color of everything in my drawing except for 3 layers. There are hundreds of layers and blocks in this drawing, even after purging. I want to avoid just exploding everything and putting it on one layer.
I want to change everything to grey except for the 3 layers I'm working in. I'm using ACAD LT so I can't create a script to do the job. The only thing I can think of is going into the layer properties window and selecting each layer and changing the color one at a time.

I have noticed when changing colors in the layer manager it does not take the first time and sometimes the second either. It does not seem to matter if creating a new layer or simply modifying existing.

How to edit the string below so that it will ignore all layer names starting with "E-". I want to change all XREF layers in the current dwg. to 161 but ignore all XREFED layer names that start with E- such as E-lighting, E-power etc.

I have a file with an x-ref. The x-ref drawing colours are changed and the objects colours are set to bylayer. I am trying to make a point of my drawing darker than the rest and the other areas just faded grey. I have colours 211-217 set to print at a darker colour and different line weights. For some reason though, even though I have some buildings in my drawing set to 214, it is still coming out cyan in my current drawing.

for some reason when i select a layer and draw a line (lets go with blue) it draws a white line, though in layer manager it says i'm drawing a blue line. when you click, then rt click the line, go to properties it says the line is drawn "by block" once i switch it to "by layer" the proper colors come up. I am altering a drawing so its easier for me to draw in a different color to see what i've done and what was already there.

We are working with a company that will be sending us DWG files. They do not use the same layer colors as us and I am trying to find a lisp that would allow me to set up a table with the layer names and the color I want them to be so that I can quickly change all the layers to our companys color standards.
Example:
Layer 1 = Color 1
Layer 2 = Color 15
Layer 3 = Color 10
Etc.
I don't know a lot about lisp but I figure if I could find a lisp that did this I could plug in my layer/color assignments and it would work.

I've been using Photoshop CS2 for several years to enhance my photographs, but just now have encountered something simple I cannot find out how to do. I have on the background layer a picture of a room interior with the exposure set mostly for the open window, but the rest of the room is very dark. On the only other layer, the upper one, I have the same shot exposed correctly for the room, which overexposes the window area. The upper and lower layers are perfectly superimposed, and the upper layer is at 100% opacity.
I have selected the window on the upper layer and want to change the selected area's opacity to blend properly with the window on the bottom layer without changing opacity of the rest of the layer. No matter what I do, changing opacity seems to affect only the entire layer, and I haven't figured out how to isolate the selected area for the opacity change.
I can cut the selection to reveal the darker window on the bottom layer, but this doesn't give me the flexibility I need to balance the two exposures. An opacity change would be ideal.

I'm trying to change block the definition of an block reference.
I did something like this:
blockreference.BlockTableRecord = newBlock.ObjectId;
In most cases this works well. However I found a case that it not work as well. When I try to change the definition from a new block that I have created in my test DWG, it disappears from the model.

I'm almost done with my elevations! One last thing, though.... When I print it, it comes out all green. Is there anyway for me to change the colors so it's just black and white? Also, when I print it, there's a line between my 1st floor roof, my floor joist, and the floor for my 2nd story. Is there any way I can get rid of that, such as joining the walls? I'm using AutoCAD Architecture 2013.

I'm new to AutoCAD 3D and Rendering. In a model I'm currently working on, the colors I have in the 3D model become different colors when I create a rendering. For instance, in the model I'm working on, in the model, the object is blue, when I render it, it's grey. Is there a setting I need to change?

I want to make a map with 16 different plots (A1 to D4) in AutoCAD. Every plot in this map is connected to an excel file, where is some information listed (area, height, year, type) per plot. This map need to be dynamic, so by chosing what to see (for instance: area), the color of the parcels needs to change according to the value per plot (for instance: 12 m2 = yellow, 24 m2 = orange, 48 m2 = red). The two files I am using are send with it.
how to program this in VBA in AutoCAD. The shape of the plots I want to draw on my own (hatching each plot is also no problem), and somehow I need to name each plot (hatch). But how can I name the plots (hatches) and change the colour per plot (hatch) in VBA? The files I am using have 1600 different plots.

The normal color scheme for xref'd entites is the color gray. Is there a way to change them so that the linework can be more distinguishable? With everything being gray, it is hard to differentiate between contour lines and feature lines.

I am going through an architectural background, converted over from Revit. I have to go through and routinely burst the object, then qselect, choose what is not equal to bylayer, and change to bylayer.
I don't want to burst everything, making a monster out of the file, but going into every individual block to change the colors within the block to bylayer is also extremely time consuming.
Is there an easier way? maybe a wishlist item for ACAD 2014 to include objects within blocks, when using QSE?

I'm working with Autodesk Inventor 2009. I have several parts colored in gray, black and red.
The grey color is the basic part color/material.The black color is feature color styles.The red color is face color styles. I need to change all the face color styles (red) to the original part color/material (gray/default). I can do this by right-clicking on a surface > properties > face properties.
My problem is that I have a lot of surfaces (mostly due to fillets). I can choose multiple ones with ctrl + click, but even that would take forever.
Is there an easier way to change all the face colors at once?

I have a title block that when inserted in the drawing 1st time all is well, colours are correct, close the drawing down & re-open & all the colours are redefined to the layer it's inserted on.!
Now, if i press U (undo) 3 times it reverts back to it's orginal state, colours etc. find attached F2 info:
Redefining colors for block: _a0_J .undo Current settings: Auto = On, Control = All, Combine = Yes, Layer = Yes Enter the number of operations to undo or [Auto/Control/BEgin/End/Mark/Back] <1>: end .regen Regenerating layout. Command: Autodesk DWG. This file is a TrustedDWG last saved by an Autodesk application
or Autodesk licensed application.
Now if I do the same thing in MEP2012 all is well! !

Is it possible to edit a block name? I am trying to nam the block to JIM like this...
BlkId = doc.Database.Insert(dwgName, db, true);
BlockTable bt = (BlockTable)tr.GetObject(doc.Database.BlockTableId, OpenMode.ForRead, true);
BlockTableRecord btr = (BlockTableRecord)tr.GetObject(bt[BlockTableRecord.ModelSpace], OpenMode.ForWrite);
BlockReference bref = new BlockReference(new Autodesk.AutoCAD.Geometry.Point3d(0, 0, 0), BlkId);
bref.BlockName = "JIM";
I am getting an error:
"Autodesk.AutoCAD.DatabaseServices.Entity.BlockName' cannot be assigned to -- it is read only"

I have a road construction ahead sign where I have hatched the background orange (color 30) as a mask since I am using an air photo for the drawing background. The block is fine until I try to use it in a multi leader, then the hatch color switches to block and I can't read the text. The block was created on the same layer as it is inserted. How do I get the orange hatch to show as orange in the multi leader block? See the attached screen shot.

I use two different measuring system IMPERIAL and METRIC.
What I want is to be able tell at a glance, by having different color border and Title-block Text is which one of the system of units I'm using
So what I'm wanting to do is create a Metric Sheet template with on color, Border, Title Block Text and a different color for the Imperial.
I've tried changing the color using the Style Center but that affects both templates, I've tried editing the title-block text saving the template but on opening it has changed back to the defaults set in the style settings and dose not hold those that I set.
What I don't what to be doing is changing them after opening, as at some stage I'll forget.

I have a block. All work inside the block is set to layer 0 and color properties are set to 'By Layer'.
When I try to give the block a custom color in model space, e.g. 251, the block remains the same color as the layer color. I have been able to change block colors in this way before.

Windows 7 64-bit / CorelDraw X4 Educational Version with Service Pack 2 installed
I was working on a file last night and had objects Powerclipped into an object. Next thing I know, the colors are all completely off. They just changed on their own. I don't know if I saved the file and it just did this, or if it just did it on its own. But it always seems to be related to the Powerclip. This isn't the first time I've lost information using X4's Powerclip.
The scarier part is that it seems to be affecting multiple documents of mine that have used the same color. We're talking about months of work.
Also, this isn't the first time colors have just changed on me after closing a document and reopening it. I've set colors to RGB black and when I've reopened it at a later time, it changes to R:2 G:2 B:2
Tonight I'm going to try and uninstall X4 and reinstall and see if it remedies the issue. If that doesn't work, I'm going to try a different version, perhaps downloading a trial of X6 and see if it corrects the issue.

I have a picture that I would like to change the color on. Is there a way to sellect all of a given color, say Pantone #150 +-10 points to Pantone 825 +-10 points automatically?
I would like to use the eyedropper tool to pick the color on the picture as the starting color and in the color selection area for the ending color and have Photoshop handle the change for me.
I have used Hue and Saturation as well as Color Balance but the results always look kind of cartoonish.
