I used the Array command many years ago in college but have never needed it since.
However yesterday I was required to copy a block at even spaces 12 times along a straight line.
I done this manually but then realised that the array tool could do this.
how to space something along a line at equal distances using the array command.

I now want to copy it a couple of times on the same artboard by holding down alt + shift and dragging beneath it to create new copies of the word with the goal of printing this artboard and using a paper cutter to make evenly cut labels.
1. How do I create a consistent amount of space between each label when I drag each copy down?
2. If I already have the labels on an artboard, how can I space them out so that there is an even amount of space between them?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a line that i would ideally like to divide into 3 equal segments. The divide command places points along the line, but I can't snap to them.
I know that I can place a block at each point which I could snap to, but is there a way of doing it without creating a block? Also is there a command that actually splits a line into 3 equal-length lines?
The lines apear with different width, but they have the same properties (layers, pen , thickness etc...). AND THERE s NO supperposed lines. The only thing different is one have vertex z, and the other only x and y.
Have tried following solutions:
match properties,
flatten image (all z with 0),
repair archive with audit, regen
copies past theses line in a new archive,
print with different printers...
nothing change.
Something more strange there, when i draw line they are with x and y vertex. When i draw circle it have also z vertex, wich made another apprarence... .

In model space I set the units form my dwg (cm), draw a line (100units). Next i go to paper space, create a viewport. When the viewport scale is set to 1:1 the ploted line is 100mm in length (not 100cm). Why is this so? How should I correct this? Changing of units in model space does not effect the length of the line in paper space.
How can I divide a line into equal segments in Illustrator? This is computer software, right? Shouldn't a computer be able to figure how to segment an arbitrary line? I tried turning the line into a sliced object and dividing that, but it didn't seem to work. Pathfinder only works on two or more objects.

No chance to point the "first point". It is either 0,0,0 or the last coordinate.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI need to change the text line width in model space, not the overall text width or the text line width/weight in paper space. Our mold maker wants to measure that on screen and he wants to set the text line width to 0.060”, while the overall text width fixed.
For example, the text “REMOVE FROM BOAT” is 3” wide total from first letter R to last letter T and height 0.4”. That is easy to do. The hard part is that he wants the line in each letter to be 0.060” (1.5mm) wide. I practiced the true type text which is measurable in model space, but that is fixed with for a certain font with a certain size. I can change from one font to the other and get different thickness but cannot change the width freely to 1.5mm as requested.

I've changed the properties from extruded to free form, and then selected the boundaries (floor slab, ceiling slabs & walls), then hit "G" to generate the space. I've tried changing "line thickness" and "line weight" in the properties dialog box but it doesn't seem to matter whether it's 0 or 9,999,999 or any number, it just looks the same, in both the model space and paper space views.
I have a drawing someone else did that uses polylines of different thickness so I have tried to figure out how they did it. Again, looking at the properties dialog box it seems to make no difference what I set the "line thickness" or "line weight" properties to...the line just stays the same size regardless.
I want to change line thicknesses because I'm designing a surface water pipe layout...I want the pipes to be a lot thicker than the lines that represent the actual building so that they will stand out when I plot the drawing.
line width does not display in either model or paper space, is there a way to make it display without going to print preview?

But the line space distance is the one thing I can't seem to edit. The only solution I know of and use is exploding the dimension and then the text turns to mtext and the option becomes available. But then if the section changes to a shorter/longer area, i have to go through several steps with the exploded lines. how to edit the line space distance for the annotation in the dimensions. i have also attached a pic of my issue as well.

I use IN MODEL SPACE command:
view/ viewports/ two viewports (horizontal or vertical)
just ordinary split window in model space.
I found out that is missing line between viewports. I am looking in options but there is nothing.
Which command or system variable it is???
I need changing the line weights.I was given an AutoCAD 2009 file that already had the drawing created. In the Model space, the drawing has been created on Layer 0. Some of the other lines have a different layer - but most of it is created on Layer 0.My manager has asked me to simply make some of the lines bold and leave the rest as is.
When I turn on the LWT button at the bottom of my program, the line weight is extremely bold (shows "By Layer" for the line weight). I have gone back to each layer to select a thinner line weight and saved the drawing. However, when I go to print, the line weight defaults back to the “By Layer” line weight.
do I need to be in Layout space to make these changes permanent?
I have then created a new layer (with a new colour) and selected my preferred line weight – and changed the lines that I want to be thicker, to the new layer I created. When I go to print, I went into my printer settings and insured that the new layer I created and colour has the preferred line weight I want. However, when I preview my drawing, it has made all the other layers thicker, and the ones I want thinner.
Should I follow the previous forums and threads using the pline and pline edit?
My "center" line shows up fine in model space, but just solid lines in paper space.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen using dimensions in paperspace i get the paperspace distances. Not those of the object i've drawn in model space.
f.e.: if i draw a line of 100 mm in model, and my zoom e on it in a viewport of 420, I'll get the distance 420. Like the dimension is not interacting with the model, see? Thought it would have something to do with the snapping, but can't find the link.
