Oct 24, 2011Is there a button anywhere to measure a distance for 3 or more points. Not using the dist, area or measure commands. Similar to dist but with extra points?

AutoCad :: Plot Points - Using Distances From Two Known Points?
Jul 31, 2011I have two locations marked by steel stakes on my land that are also shown on a CAD drawing. The CAD drawing is two dimensional; however, contours are shown. I have physically measured distances between these two known points and numerous other locations that I wish to plot on the CAD drawing. I could always print the CAD drawing to scale and plot the new points on the CAD printout by using the two known locations, a compass to draw arcs and locating the new points by where the arcs intersect. I am sure there is a much more efficient way to plot these new points within the CAD program itself. I have just started to use CAD;

Sep 25, 2012I am aware of creating a polyline and using .AddVertexAt() to give the points, my question is if I want to create a polyline in acad I generally will pick a point and then type out @10.5<0 or something similar of that nature to pick my next point. Is it possible to add vertices to a polyline in .Net giving it the distance and angle of one point2d to the next point2d?
Example:
acPoly.AddVertexAt(0, New Point2d(0,0),0,0,0)
acPoly.AddvertexAt(0, New Point2d(1,0),0,0,0)
but instead?
acPoly.AddVertexAt(0, New Point2d(0,0),0,0,0)
acPoly.AddVertex ( use code equivalent of New Point2d = @10.5<0 from point at 0 index)

Currently working on monitoring surveys and have to show the movement of beams for the shoring walls.
The crew sets the benchmarks and every week goes back ties them in. I am currently measuring the horizontal, lateral, and vertical movement manually and then taking the numbers and typing them in excel.
is there a way to select the 2 points and it automatically insert the difference in a table?

Feb 7, 2012I am trying to draw a parcel map using AutoCAD MAP 3D, using distances and bearings that were added by to the original hand-made drawing by the surveyor. The parcels don't quite close perfectly... what the acceptable tolerances are for parcels of say 1 acre and under, 1-5 acres, and 5-20 acre sites?

Mar 22, 2011When using dimensions in paperspace i get the paperspace distances. Not those of the object i've drawn in model space.
f.e.: if i draw a line of 100 mm in model, and my zoom e on it in a viewport of 420, I'll get the distance 420. Like the dimension is not interacting with the model, see? Thought it would have something to do with the snapping, but can't find the link.

Sometimes i need to reverse them. Is there a command in AutoCAD 2012 where you can reverse a hole heap of distances and bearings all at once? Mirror make them up side down. I want them to swop sides of the line they refer to.

Feb 10, 2013I have a form for adjusting center distances between several posts, up to a total of 20 posts. The number of posts is adjustable depending on how many I need. If there is 10 active posts there will be 10 suppressed post. When there are 10 suppressed post, I don`t need them in the form. Is it possible to hide the center distances I don`t need?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Entering Bearings - Distances And Curves
Jul 19, 2013I haven't used Autodesk directly since Land Development 2i. I remeber being able to draw lines by distances and bearings with the numeric keypad. The bearing quadrant / DMS input was a fast way to draw parcels from an existing map. When I got to a curve, I remember being able to input radius and Delta angle. I've been trying to find those functions for months now. I found the Line by Bearing command and that works well as long as I don't run into a curve.
How do you draw a curve that's tangent to the previous line with the radius and delta angle? I've been going back to AutoCAD version 12 methods. That is, offset the previous line. draw a circle from the end of the offset. draw a line between the center of the curve and the end of the previous line. Rotate that line with the 12d34'56" format. trim the curve and erase the extra lines.
I've gone through all the curve drawing options in the home menu.I found the CoGo editor in the survey menu but it doesn't draw curves. It just draws a line from the beginning of the curve to the center and continues the traverse from the radius point of the curve. That's obviously either a serious misunderstanding of input or a program bug.

Feb 6, 2013I have an assembly with several parts where I use a pattern to duplicate the parts in the height. I cannot use the pattern sideways due to different center distances between the parts. I could get this distance by using several patterns, but I rather not if there is another way.
I have made a code for suppressing the parts in element 2 if the same part is suppressed in element 1.

AutoCad 2D :: Define Multiple Distances Continuously AFTER Defining Tracking Direction
May 23, 2012I have a problem with polar tracking.Previously it was possible to hover over a point, then define the tracking direction and then specifying the distance. In 2013, the polar and object snap tracking path go away / ends when typing the desired tracking distance. Then the tracking direction has to be defined afterwords, which is new to me.That means that its not possible to define multiple distances continuously AFTER defining the tracking direction.

AutoCAD Map 3D :: Measuring Areas In 2012?
Jul 15, 2011I've tried to measure the area of a road layout (that includes curves) and it is giving me a completely unrealistic answer (310,000m2 instead of 41,000m2). If I de-curve the lines, the area is about right, but the lines MUST remain curved for me to get the most accurate measurment. why curves aren't being measured properly, and is there a setting I can use to make sure this doesn't happen again?

I often need to know the distance between the edge of a part and another based on a fixed view, which if the two edges are straight and on the same plane works ok but I need to measure the height of two parts which are on different planes or the distance between arcs and curves as these tend to always work from the centers?
I need a command that will basically fix the plane to the current view to get the required dimensions, is there anything available?

In the output grapher it is possible to display the force as the cylinder slides around the curve. Oct 5, 2012I have a plot plan, that is rotate about 31 degrees off true north. So when I draw inside the plan, I rotate the UCS to be able to follow a "plant" north.
> UCS > point 1 > point 2 (along x axis) > point 3 (along y axis)
> PLAN > enter > enter
Now, I'm trying to measure a distance between 2 points with my drawing rotated along a new UCS. However, it keeps giving me the measurements as if it were still in the WORLD UCS.....so my x and y values are weird numbers instead of the nicely rounded numbers to which I have offset from a certain point.
> DIST > point 1 > point 2
How do I get my distance to show me what the x and y distances are in the UCS that I have rotated to, instead of showing me the x and y distances based on the WORLD UCS?

What I do is, start the line command, click anywhere on the gril (because it doesn't say where start... so I guess you could click anywhere, although I am not sure about that either). And then I put, @9
AutoCad :: Measuring Angle Between Curves / Arcs
Mar 1, 2013I have two identically-drawn arcs, with their midpoints centered on the same x/y point. One of these arcs has been slightly rotated about that midpoint by some "R degrees".
how do I find out what this angle is? In other words, I want to find some angle "R" so that if I rotate one of the two arcs by it, they will both be perfectly in line.
Seems like there's a simple face palm solution here that I'm not seeing. Angular dimension to measure the angle obviously doesn't work since they are curves.

Jun 13, 2012 I am responsible for populating a database in which one of the fields is the area of individual rooms in a building. The instructions indicated that I was to use polylines to enclose each room / area and to find the area based on these values.
Earlier this year, another student was hired to confirm the measurements on building blueprints. This student took accurate measurements of each room, however instead of correcting the drawings, he simply added override text to the dimensions. Therefore the displayed dimensions are correct but my area values using polylines are inaccurate.
The project that I'm working on includes a number of drawings and close to 1000 rooms. I downloaded a function I found online that allows me to figure out which dimensions were overridden by boxing them in a different colour and I've found that it is a significant ammount.
Is there a way to use these overridden dimensions, without altering the physical nature of the drawing, to find the area of a room?Need to use polylines to calculate area of many rooms. Dimensions have been overridden and are inaccurate. Can i use the overridden dimensions without altering the physical drawing?
