AutoCad :: Measuring Angle Between Curves / Arcs

Mar 1, 2013

I have two identically-drawn arcs, with their midpoints centered on the same x/y point. One of these arcs has been slightly rotated about that midpoint by some "R degrees".

how do I find out what this angle is? In other words, I want to find some angle "R" so that if I rotate one of the two arcs by it, they will both be perfectly in line.

Seems like there's a simple face palm solution here that I'm not seeing. Angular dimension to measure the angle obviously doesn't work since they are curves.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Draft Face Is Measuring A Different Angle To Input Parameter

Jul 22, 2013

I'm having a real problem with a part I'm trying to develop:

I'm attempting to have a single timber part that has several draft face features within it, so I can control the bevelsa on the part with iLogic at a later date. The problem I'm having is that when the "running bevel" changes direction it throws out the bevels on the ends.  (I've attached the file, it's very difficult to put into words.

But basically: When the running bevel is "forward" the end bevel measures 20degrees (as it should) When I flip the running bevel to "backwards" the same end bevel now measure 19.7degrees while the input parameter still says 20.

AutoCad 2D :: Rotate An Object To Match An Angle Without Knowing The Angle?

Oct 5, 2011

Is there a quick way to rotate an object to match an angle without knowing what the angle is? I am using AutoCAD 2011 now. I was using 2007 and I had an add on command the would rotate an object using a base point and picking the two lines that make up the angle, and it would match the angle you wanted. I can not get that command to load in 2011.

AutoCad :: Rotation Angle Doesn't Match Angle Inquiry

Jul 25, 2012

I have a property line that is N 36d19'52" E but needs to be N 12d52'18" E. The obvious and calculated rotation angle would be 23d27'34" but when I rotate the line by the calculated angle it doesn't rotate to the right angle. It's off by 0d11'10"!? When I draw a line by bearing at N12d52'18" E and inquiry the angle between the property line and the drawn line the angle difference is in fact 23d27'34".

Photoshop :: Craze Curves / Visibility Curves Technique?

Feb 23, 2013

I am preparing a batch of images for test submission, for a stock photo library.Recently a person working for one of the visual effects studios in London happened to tell me that these strict agencies use some set of layers that can separate tonality and color values to check for banding, dirtiness, noise and all those technical flaws that the human eye can't notice on a monitor. He said they perhaps have an action for it so that they can review faster.

He said that it is known as 'Craze Curves' or 'Visibility Curves' technique. He further added that all the studios use it before giving the final files to clients so that there is no issue in printing afterwards. It is sort of a quality control check and has been used by digital and advertising agencies all over the world.

But now his email seems to have changed and I can't get in touch with him to know how to use the technique.

AutoCAD Map 3D :: Measuring Areas In 2012?

I've tried to measure the area of a road layout (that includes curves) and it is giving me a completely unrealistic answer (310,000m2 instead of 41,000m2).  If I de-curve the lines, the area is about right, but the lines MUST remain curved for me to get the most accurate measurment. why curves aren't being measured properly, and is there a setting I can use to make sure this doesn't happen again?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Measuring In An Assembly

Dec 8, 2011

I use the "M" measure command a lot, Is there any other good ways to dimension in assembly?  I often need to know the distance between the edge of a part and another based on a fixed view, which if the two edges are straight and on the same plane works ok but I need to measure the height of two parts which are on different planes or the distance between arcs and curves as these tend to always work from the centers?

I need a command that will basically fix the plane to the current view to get the required dimensions, is there anything available?

AutoCAD LT :: Arcs That Don't Arc

Apr 25, 2013

we used AutoCad LT 98 & hasn't changed when opening the same files in LT 2014.  All curved lines (arcs) that occur in a recently-opened file look like two straight lines with an angle at the mid-point, so that from a distance they still resemble an arc but not at all when zoomed in.  When clicking on the control points, it goes to looking like a proper arc, but the change doesn't hold after the file is saved and reopened. Is there a program-wide setting to change, or do the properties of each arc need to be changed individually?

AutoCAD 2010 :: Measuring Distance In Rotated UCS

Oct 5, 2012

I have a plot plan, that is rotate about 31 degrees off true north. So when I draw inside the plan, I rotate the UCS to be able to follow a "plant" north.

> UCS > point 1 > point 2 (along x axis) > point 3 (along y axis)

> PLAN > enter > enter

Now, I'm trying to measure a distance between 2 points with my drawing rotated along a new UCS. However, it keeps giving me the measurements as if it were still in the WORLD UCS.....so my x and y values are weird numbers instead of the nicely rounded numbers to which I have offset from a certain point.

> DIST > point 1 > point 2

How do I get my distance to show me what the x and y distances are in the UCS that I have rotated to, instead of showing me the x and y distances based on the WORLD UCS?

AutoCad 3D :: Intersections Of 2 Arcs?

Jul 25, 2012

1st let me preface this with the fact that I know zilch, nada, nil about solid modeling. But I think the easiest way to accomplish what I'm trying to do is thru solid modeling and export the end result as (3D) polyline

What I have is 2 intersecting arcs with varying radii and ucs values. I'm guessing these could turned into regions and then subtract 1 from the other in order to find a list of intersecting points or maybe a splined pline. Or maybe they could be joined. Either way, if I DXFOUT the solids in R12 format, they become plines

I have access to R14 thru 2012

AutoCAD 2010 :: Measuring Area Using Override Dimensions?

Jun 13, 2012

I am responsible for populating a database in which one of the fields is the area of individual rooms in a building. The instructions indicated that I was to use polylines to enclose each room / area and to find the area based on these values.

Earlier this year, another student was hired to confirm the measurements on building blueprints. This student took accurate measurements of each room, however instead of correcting the drawings, he simply added override text to the dimensions. Therefore the displayed dimensions are correct but my area values using polylines are inaccurate.

The project that I'm working on includes a number of drawings and close to 1000 rooms. I downloaded a function I found online that allows me to figure out which dimensions were overridden by boxing them in a different colour and I've found that it is a significant ammount.

Is there a way to use these overridden dimensions, without altering the physical nature of the drawing, to find the area of a room?Need to use polylines to calculate area of many rooms. Dimensions have been overridden and are inaccurate. Can i use the overridden dimensions without altering the physical drawing?
