We have a few drawings where the line weights between paper space and model space vary on plots.i.e a line on Layer 1 in model space plots heavier/darker than a line on Layer 1 in paper space.

In model space I set the units form my dwg (cm), draw a line (100units). Next i go to paper space, create a viewport. When the viewport scale is set to 1:1 the ploted line is 100mm in length (not 100cm). Why is this so? How should I correct this? Changing of units in model space does not effect the length of the line in paper space.
I am a landscape architect trying to xref in civil backgrounds. I have noticed twice now from two different civil firms that some of the civil symbols (dynamic blocks) are having visibility issues in paper space. No the viewport layers are not turned off or frozen. No the views weren't placed using the sheet set manager. Yes the blocks are created on layer zero and yes the associated layer is not off or frozen. I don't believe these blocks are annotative blocks. They appear, as expected, perfectly clear in model space. I just toggel over to paper space and "poof" they've disappeared.

I have changed the line weight in the layer properties, in the Profile properties and tried changed the line weight in the pen style. Everywhere I could think I try to make the line thicker but when I plot, the line is still the same and difficult to distinguish from the grid blocks of the profile view.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm having a very annoying problem where the color and lineweight of my alignment in a viewport is not what it's set to be. I have an alignment with a style that sets all the linework components to a layer named C-STRM-CNTR-N, the color is set to BYLAYER, the linetype set to Continuous, and lineweight set to .80mm (see style_and_layer_screenshots.png). The layer C-STRM-CNTR-N has Cyan as the color, which shows in the Alignment Style dialog box (see style_and_layer_screenshots.png). In the model space everything looks fine (see c3d_model_space_screenshot.png). But in my layout, the alignment is a different color and lineweight (see c3d_layout_screenshot.png).
At first I thought maybe the alignment wasn't on the correct layer, but I checked and it's set correctly. Then I checked to see if the layer C-STRM-CNTR-N had a different color set for the viewport through the layer manager, but it's set to Cyan just like it's supposed to be. I went to the model space and noticed the color is correct. Frustrated and at a loss, I closed C3D, then reopened it and the problem is still there.
Why I can't change the lineweight nor the color of the alignment in this viewport? If I change either of those two settings in the Alignment Style Dialog box nothing changes, but the linetype does change.

How I would change both the model and paper space thickness of a line in AutoCAD 2004? I've tried changing "line thickness" and "line weight" in the properties dialog box but it doesn't seem to matter whether it's 0 or 9,999,999 or any number, it just looks the same, in both the model space and paper space views.
I have a drawing someone else did that uses polylines of different thickness so I have tried to figure out how they did it. Again, looking at the properties dialog box it seems to make no difference what I set the "line thickness" or "line weight" properties to...the line just stays the same size regardless.
I want to change line thicknesses because I'm designing a surface water pipe layout...I want the pipes to be a lot thicker than the lines that represent the actual building so that they will stand out when I plot the drawing.
line width does not display in either model or paper space, is there a way to make it display without going to print preview?

If I zoom out or zoom in the screen,the dimension still remains in the same place and it's not scalling. What can I do to clear that dimension?

View 7 Replies View Relatedjust wondering if any of you know the command that I can use in order to align my text in papr space. I'm running 2011 and 2013 C3D. I have several callouts that are in a row, and I COULD draw a line straight down and just move them all to it, but that's a very inefficient way of getting this done. At the last company I worked, we had a command in the system simply called LINEUP that would align any text we wanted either horizontally or vertically. If this is a button I can create with code or whatever, I could try to do that too, if necessary. Just might take me a while to do the code, but I know there's a more efficient way of performing this task.

I've made them very tiny in Model space but they still end up huge in Layout.

Have tried recovering... moving the geometry is not an option. Have also tried toggling "Projection" on and off as suggested in other threads
This seems to have been a long standing issue and its surprising there yet seems to be a fix. Have made the same post in an AutoCAD 2011 as a reply to a board on the same issue.

My question is when you Create Reference Grid, it seems to default the text and grid to black in color (I work with a black background in C3D), so its pretty tough to see. Where do you control the color and text size of this Grid?

I think it is a mm/m problem but can't seem to find a solution in the properties of the station label group. If I type a piece of mtext it works fine.

why is it that simple commands in paperspace like editing text/mtext, moving a single line or erasing objects so slow. it seems like it takes way to long to do simple editing. Makes me what to go back to model space sheet set up. I already did the changes to settings that someone posed "NEW Autocad Performance Tips". I notice a small performance enhancement but still very slow compared to paper space. this happened in files with one layout tab or 10.

I am using Civil3D 2011 and I am working on 1:1 model space scale. When I go to paperspace and open a scaled viewport, the texts and linetype scales change. What can i o to make them look the same as in model space?

I'm having trouble with paper space labels. When i zoom in and out to adjust my viewport, the scale looks fine. Then when i go to plot preview all text are enlarged. Then when I cancel I go to paperspace and labels remain large.

I often, and I mean 9/10 times get one or more fata errors when try to do so.
For clarification I am grabbing the wheel in the top right corner between N and E and rotating the view. When I release the drawing is not in view. Then the program crashes.

I know I am not running a quadro but I should still be able to handle this type of task.
When I use a layout size such as A3 in paper space, the section view label text size is the same as it is in model space (when both annotative scales are the same). However, when I choose 11x17 as a layout size, the section view label text size is exetremly small.

Take a look at this DWG. Elements in The Alignment Style are colour: ACI 1 (red).
The CTB plot style (in the attached zip) returns ACI 1 as black (layout page-setup: display using plot style)
BUT ... The Alignment elements are grey in the paper space viewport !!!
I have a pipe network that I am showing in a drainage plan. I want to show the Structure table in paper space. It seems I can only creaate the table in model spcae. I'm ok with that. I made a viewport in my paper space tab to see the table but it keps scaling to full size regardless of what the viewport scale is set to. The table is too big to fit in my drawing. I tried making a smaller viewport but the table keeps scaling to be actuall paper size. How can i get it to stop scaling so I can shrink it to fit on my sheet?
If Civil3D can't do it can I export the tbale to a data linked Spread Sheet then import that (and link it) to my paper space tab so that I can control the size of the table?
