Apr 20, 2012I was sent a detailed map in dwg format that shows a river in the country. The model has a layer called sheets that has 17 rectangles in many orientations which overlap and cover the data i wish to print. There is a layout tab called "Sheet 2 to 17" which show page 17 with a tempalte when the pointer is over the tab similar to Windows 7 Aero, but if you open the layout the page space is blank. I'm not familiar with the use of a layer to break the drawing into multpile overlapping sheets and my end goal is to print the model as the 17 defined sheets on 11 x 17 paper.

Oct 14, 2012I have multiple layout pages (58 pages) and would like to print them in a printer at once. How do I do that?
Currently, I open 1 layout at a time then print it 1 by 1, in which its killing me specially if I do have lots of drawings.
Publish does saving in DWF, PDF... But does not print in the printer.

May 23, 2013Adobe Colour Management Print defaults seems to be assigning RGB meta to B&W pages and incurring Colour Print charges for B&W prints.I can manually change the print colour management to Printer managed on a per print basis instead of the default adobe colour managed which "cures" the issue but I do not seem to be able to save that setting as the default.

Sep 20, 2012Is there any way to control the priority of what information Inventor displays "on top" in a drawing when you have two elements that overlap?
My specific situation is I have a text note whose boundary (where the text 'box' would be if that was turned on) overlaps a detail of a section view and seems to be preventing the display of the hatch layer in one of my section views.
I have attached 3 pictures to show this problem. The pictures show the section view in 3 slightly different positions relative to the text box. I selected the text box before taking the screen capture so you can reference the green "handles" to know where the boundary of the text box would be. Notice how the hatching of the welds, flanges, and pipe as well as a portion of the extension line and arrow for the 3/16 dimension are 'covered' by the boundary of the text box.
Is there a way to control the priority in which different layers are displayed, or is there a function similar to the "Bring Forward/Send Backward" options in Microsoft Word?
FYI, I am running Inventor 2013 RTM build 138.

Jan 28, 2014I have a DesignJet T1100ps and a DesignJet Z5400. I have a PDF from a client that has 2 pages that are ARCH D size and 3 pages that are 11x17. All pages in the PDF came from AutoCAD 2013 paper spaces. The plotters are in offices 50 miles apart.
When I print to the T1100 and state pick page size by PDF page size and choose the option actual size the plot print correctly. The plotter will nest the pages and print to scale. I get 2 Arch D pages and 3 11x17 pages.
When I print to the Z5400 the pages get changed to ANSI D pages and get cut off because there are 2 inches of paper missing. If I shrink the plot I can print them so they are not to scale but fit inside the ANSI D size page. This doesn't work when we need scale drawings. The Z5400 and the previous DesignJet 800 both have this issue.
Due to the distance of the printers I can not plot at one office for use at the other. I would like to try and solve the issue via software if possible. So far my only work around is to pick ARCH D in the plotter driver and print all pages to ARCH D by shutting off the option to print pages by PDF page size. This wastes a lot of paper because we print actual size. I can also print one page at a time.
We asked for the drawing and were able to get an original copy but it is GSA and they typically do not provide the originals. If I print form the drawing directly to the plotter from AutoCAD everything comes out the right size. AutoCAD also generates the PDF file correctly according to the page properties.
What might cause Adobe to change our CAD prints in a PDF from the ARCH D size to ANSI D size for this Z5400 plotter?

Feb 1, 2013I work on Mac and would like to print a design over multiple pages. The recurring problem however is that the printed sheets have a thin unprinted, blank border. I've tried various options in the print dialogue box, including all the borderless page setup options. This 2mm border keeps appearing in my prints. This is for silkscreening, so even though its only a 2mm border, this gap prevents me from putting all the printed sheets together as one design. The design, via the print dialogue box, is being saved as a PostScript file due to doing colour separations.

Apr 17, 2013I am hoping to link text items between pages and items in the drawing such as elevations?
So, ideally, I would have a front page to my drawing set, and this would have a 'Contents' type table on it, with the title name of each drawing in one column, then the drawing number in the next column. This is the tricky bit, someone must know: If i was to change the name / number of any item in this table, could it change also (linked to) the following items:
Drawing title (as a text idem on the layout sheet that that drawing relates to)
Drawing number (as a text idem on the layout sheet that that drawing relates to)
Elevation call-out (on the plan view)
And possibly:
Excel reference cell
Drawing layout tab title (this might be pushing it!!)
Perhaps this could be done by linking to an external Excel spreadsheet with these titles modified in there? I'm not sure. This would be ideal as typing into excel is a lot easier than the triple click text modify method required currently.
I waste a lot of time renaming and updating sheet names / titles / numbers. Are there standard templates for drawing sets that may have this built in available anywhere that I could try?

Apr 18, 2013I've written a program that prints the drawings from an assembly. For this print to work, I have to have the drawing open (I've tried printing using the option Set doc = ThisApplication.Documents.Open(DWGName, False) but the print manager will just skip over a file that isn't open.
When I change the code to "True" Inventor wants to know if i want to check out the drawing from vault and this requires user input. Is there a way i can bypass this user input or automate an answer so the user doesn't have to constantly be clicking when batching drawings?

I’m wondering if there is a way to print the drawing in a pdf file such that the drawing scale is kept correct.
For example, I tried to print the drawing shown in the screenshot in 1/100 scale using the Adobe pdf printer, but later, as I printed the pdf file, the printed drawing is not to scale!
Why the pdf file doesn’t keep the scale?
Is there a way to “preserve” the scale while printing the drawing in a pdf file?
