Mar 23, 2012How do I place object lines on a general plane that was converted from a 3d station? I'm currently operating acad Mechanical.

View 6 RepliesI am not a regular user of the Inventor General Table. I can make and edit the table with no problems. I want to eliminate the lines from one of the columns while leaving the lines in the remaining columns. I tried to set up the column before inserting it but could not find the column format that would allow me to do that in the Style Editor.
How to do this. I need to also remove the (read only) from the Style Editor.
In the programming I found an example to place an ifeature on a face.I've modified it to place it on a face without selectset but with features. faces. item(1)
how to place it on that face with a vertex from that face or a workpoint that lies on that face.I've tried to adapt other code on this forum but can't find it.
Is there a way that will allow me to place a component into an assembly where it automatically creates a constrain between the components xz plane and the assembly xz plane? I tried the Ground and root component, but it does too much, I will need to constrain the component differently on the other component planes.Â

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had this working just fine, then made some changes (including deleting some reference planes) and now I can't get it to work. I need to lock a diagonal reference plane to the intersection of 2 orthogonal reference planes, so that my door (on an angle) will slide toward the fixed corner, instead of the corner moving toward the door. It must be something simple I did the first time that I'm just not thinking of this time around...

If I redraw the drawing in Autocad it works fine. I have a lot of drawings converted from Microstation and I don't need to be redrawing them all.
View 1 Replies View RelatedPossible to change/set the work plane while sketching the path of an in-place model? This guardrail extension is an example of where I would have liked to change the work plane while sketching the path because the path shifted planes. I believe you can do this in the family editor, but I could not get it to work in the in-place modeler. What I ended up doing (as an experiment) was to create masses and picked their edges to get the path I wanted. I would love to be able to have more control over the work plane, like defining the workplane by a face and then being able to move it relative to the face selected.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a very large and complicated file from a civil engineer with way more information in it then I need. I want to pull layers I need out of the civil dwg and into a new dwg.
A few problems with the civil dwg are, all lines not in same x/y plane, everything not at 0,0,0, layers need to be combined, layers need to be purged, etc
Would just copy and pasting the layers I need into a new file be a good way to approach this?
I'm a CAD LT 2005 user and I'm working on a file sent to me by an engineer. I want to chamfer and fillet some lines but I keep getting the message that the lines are non coplaner. I'm not trying to draw in 3-D. I can't!! How can the lines not be on the same plane if I copy one to get the second?
Is this not what coplaner means?
For one of our project, we have a very precise scanner that picks 3 points on a material to generate a plane.
(First point is always (0,0,0))
On autocad, I have to align different object with this plane.
I'd like to know if there is a method to directly align object with this plane?
(I can easily have the normal to this plane, and other informations, if needed)
We already try to calculate angles and make a rotation, but it's not very accurate.
I was wondering whether I can animate an engineering drawing of a vehicle over a longsection (X-Y Plane) of a road without expanding add-ons ($) on Civil 3D package
Senior engineers in our department aren't quite concerned using transparent template over printed plan but I reckon it's primitive and a waste of resources and time.
I've seen videos and forum posts about using scripts but I can't quite see the post I would like to see.
So what I would like to do would sum up as section drawing of a vehicle moving through a drawn polyline. No gimmicks (wheels turning, indicate scrapes) required.
I made a staircase rail made out of splines etc...
Converted the object to edit poly and duplicated + attached all the piece.
So I have this one object that is really long and this is the rail of the whole staircase.
Now I created a spline and once I select the object and add a Path Deform, the object isn't rotating correctly along the spline. At the beginning of the spline its @ 90 degrees and further down it starts to spin.
How do I make it so it's always 90 degrees to the ground?

I have the following image:
This actually started out as a font, and I converted it to an object with paths using apple-shift-o. I'm wanting to get rid of the balloon around the lettering, but am having a real hard time doing so using the convential methods (ie cutting, deleting the anchor points). When I do this, it seems to interfere with the lettering. How I can accomplish this for a piece of text I converted to an object?
I like to attach a .aim or import a inventor DWG into a section and a plan in autocad.
But how do I select the right orientation on import? The default Inventor view is a sideview and won't work on a plan.
Right now it seems like I either have to go into 3D model view and rotate the object or have to change the orientation Inventor for plan and then reorientate it for section...
When I am about insert a object I get that like the mouse arrow and then object I want is not in the same place.

Im trying to place sample lines along a very sinuous alignment and about a third of the way down all of a sudden the little tracking marker jumps to what seems like thousands of kilometers away and starts tracking along some invisible alignment which does not exist?
I have tried everything I can think of from every type of sample line creation option to recreating the alignment and auditing the drawing. Nothing I do creates different results. Is this an alignment issue and being cause by all the tight bends?
I have a scene set up like the picture below but for some reason when I go to render it out, the geometry isn't there for the plane object. I've set it up like that because I have the ball emitting fire and then deflectors along the plane so the particles move across them as if they fire was contained and the particle system reacts in this way but in the final render the geometry for the plane isn't there. I've went through the object properties and renderable is checked.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI need a way for Photoshop to place an object like Illustrator does. Sure, Smart Objects are nice but I need a method where I have a PS file and 1 or more layers in it are referenced. When these references are updated the PS file should update automatically (yes, I will have to have the file open and save ...). Illustrator does this ... page layout apps do this. I need for PS to do this or find a work method that will help do this. Any thoughts? The specific details:We have several hundred images of our app's interface. The images are composites of generic interface and language-specific interface. To make things easier when updating or translating docs we snag the local parts of the interface. We would then place and align the separate images in FrameMaker. We're moving to a new tool and output and we need to put all of the images together in a single image file but want to retain the ability to only update the localized sections. Smart Objects are not smart when trying to do this as they require you to either (essentially) re-import the object (using Replace) or edit the object from the composite image. This obviates the ability to simply replace the target image and have the composite update. So ...
