I've got a lot of very simple 2D flat and house plans on paper. i need to get them into autocad. So far i've been re-drawing them by hand, but i was wondering is there a simpler way to do this... Can i simply scan them with my printer and get them into autocad as drawing? is it possible?

But after importing I can't see the map 'ART' anymore. Only the map of the date I made the pictures.

I am having trouble importing a picture into the logo document I am working on. I am designing a logo for a roofing co. and following a logo tutorial on garysimon.net website on 'how to make an awesome logo' using photoshop cs2, but when I follow his steps for importing a picture into the logo document that I am working on, it will import it to a new document screen. From what I can tell by reading his tutorial, it should import it into the same document screen that I already have the company name on so I can create layers and work on the one screen.

The problem is that whenever I add a picture using "Layer -> Import from file" and the imported picture is larger than the canvas the canvas get resized to the size of the imported pictue. Is there a way to prevent that?

View 2 Replies View RelatedIn Civil 3D 2013 I'm attempting to import styles from another drawing. Whenever I select the Import button under Manage > Styles I get a warning box pop up that says "The drawing has unsaved modifications. Please save the drawings and then perform the style import again".
This occurs even after I hit save or reopen the drawing.
I work with Architects who change the background layouts. I need importing the new background to my existing drawing.

Do you have to insert the drawing (which has the desired Styles) into the existing dwg? I tried DesignCenter, but it does not seem to have the ability to import Label Styles or Point Label Styles.

I have a vector drawing of a logo, currently in adobe illustrator format. I'd like to create a 2D sketch in Autodesk Inventor and then insert this drawing into the sketch as a shape that can only be placed and scaled.
The way I'd expect this to work is essentially that I'd get a rectangle X enclosing vector object Y, and that I'd then be able to create a fully constrained Inventor sketch by simply constraining the corners of this rectangle X. Is it possible to do something along those lines, and if so what is the best practice for it?
What I tried, which failed, was this:
1. Converted the AI file to a .DWG file
2. Used the "Insert ACAD" command to place the file in Inventor with the Constrain End Points and Apply geometric constraints boxes checked (other boxes were unchecked)
3. Waited for a surprisingly long time for this operation to complete, maybe 30s on a 16GB 2.6GHz quad machine
The result of this operation is that I now see my imported geometry, BUT all vectors are treated as individual shapes and I have 2637 dimensions needed.
I'm trying to assemble a figure for a publication in a journal. one of the images has been created by the person who generated the data using MS paint.the files he has sent so far have not had resolution above 96 dpi, saved as a png. I need better res files to send to the publisher, I'm hoping we can save it out such that it will be 600dpi?
I'm laying out the final figure in photoshop, and have created a high resolution document in which to import this image from paint with some other images. however, when i check the res on the files that he's given me so far, it's screen res.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWe have generic drawings of assemblies we use in layout drawings as standard details. We insert them as blocks with one or two dimensions that vary (geometry remains the same-these are just representative for information).
We could define these as attribute values so that a user types a length that displays in the drawing but if we wish this to be part of a dimension we would have to explode the dimension to manually replace the mtext dim value with an attribute tag.
This seems unsubtle so I edited the dim value to be a field referencing the attribute value and made the tag invisible. This worked in the drawing-the attached shows the attribute tag ALL THREAD and the resultant dimension text (as a field value) replaced with the default value LENGTH.
When the drawing is inserted as a block it duly prompts for a value for ALLTHREAD and any value can be typed-`1200, 3500, 1672 etc. but the dimension does not update from the default value LENGTH, even after using attsync, regenall. So, if the drawing recognizes the attribute then how come it cant recognize the graphic via a field reference and update it? Is it buried too deep in the database hierarchy for LT to make sense of it maybe?
I dont want to explode the dim but it looks like I may have too if this cannot be made to work.
I've created a Windows form with a Picture box and I wish to display a block drawing in the Picture box, or another Windows control if that is appropriate.
When running the code lines:
Dim oImage As System.Drawing.Image = System.Drawing.Image.FromFile(sDrawingName)
PictureBox1.Image = oImage
I get an "out of Memory" error report.
This code works quite well if I use a GIF file, rather than a DWG file, so I guess I need another approach.
Web searches have proved useless. I did find a C# project at:
[URL]....., but I'm unable to get it to run or to work out which of the C# code is relevant.
I inserted .gif picture to my drawing file. Is it possible to insert the picture into the file that when I open the dwg file on other pc, it doesn't need gif picture from my hard drive? I want to copy dwg ( Do I have to copy all the pictures too?)to the CD and print it in a copy store.

I have drawn a crystal in Photoshop...with seperate layers, there is 2 of them,What I want to do is use a photograph of a proper crystal, and use this to fill the actual drawing.
I have seen this done before I just cant remember how. It adds the actual JPG picture behind the drawing and I can drag the image around in the background of the layer to where I want it .
we use Corel Draw but different versions. Some of us use the X4, some X3 and some even 12 or 11. We have huge problem with the time interval past while importing even a single simple outline drawing. We usually wait from 4 - 7 minutes.
My question is what could be the problem? Different versions of Corel Draw?, bed LAN connection?, or something else?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI´m trying to plot a picture with a hatch marking a area on the picture. I´m making a overview of the picture with the hatched area on it at scale 1:10000. And then i make smaller plots in scale 1:5000.
My problem is that depending on the scale the color changes (it´s darker in 1:10000).
I'm using PSE10 on a Win7 (64bit) OS. When I delete a picture (from catalogue and harddrive) the PSE-Organizer tends to jump down several pictures (Haven't been able to determine a fixed number), so I have to go up again and browse through the same pics a couple of times.

So that the picture displayed on my form will change depending on the parameter value.Here comes the trick. Only text parameters can be used!On the form editor only 'Text parameter' can be selected to drive the picture selection. I actually need an integer, so that i can use my User/Excel parameters from Inventor.
I can work this around with an iLogic rule to equal the value of my string Picture Parameter with the relevant integer Inventor parameter, but the rules need to be run before the pic and the form updates (by pressing the 'Apply' button at the bottom of the form and then the assy updates too. So this takes a couple of minutes)... whereas if it was an option on the form editor then the update would be instant without waiting for everything to update...
Is there a particular reason why the Picture Parameter only can be a text parameter?
when i go into the editor and pull up a picture and blue background appears behind the picture and circle enters the screen. how do i get out of this?
